I can't un-see that.
Current status is nothing about LEGO, unfortunately. However, after a couple of years away due to COVID supply chain issues, I finally get to do my annual firework show for my community and church. Pre-COVID, the show pulled about 2500 people. I'm curious where it will end up this year having not done it the last two.
Last night I finished scripting the show and loaded it onto my controller module. Now the leg work of everything else begins. 200+ hours of prep/set up...22:34 seconds of pyro-bliss...100% worth it!
He was asking questions about collecting and about building, so I pointed him here and a few other sites for info and ideas.
It's great!
Mission report soon.
*squeal with joy*
I managed to acquire the set in incomplete condition for well under the current market value. It was missing a number of minifigures (including the expensive Admiral, but thankfully it did include the expensive merchant captain) along with a number of other parts. These missing parts were clearly outlined in the listing, so I knew what I was getting into. Unfortunately upon receipt and inventory, I discovered that it was missing a number of other pieces as well, including a few expensive ones like the large Imperial flag. Thankfully I was able to work it out with the seller to get a partial refund. Bricklink orders already placed for the missing items that I didn't already have in my bulk. When all is said and done, I will still have a complete set for a good bit under the current market.
(The sails need a bit more TLC).
But, while all this was going on, I also have been working on the huge lot that I posted about a couple weeks ago.
I now have been able to get all of the pieces cleaned and sorted out.
All told I was able to get the following sets out of it:
#6285 Black Seas Barracuda (with instructions and box)
#6270 Forbidden Island (with instructions)
#6276 Eldorado Fortress (with instructions and box top)
#6259 Broadside's Brig
#6235 Buried Treasure
#6258 Smuggler's Shanty
#6251 Pirate Minifigures
#6260 Shipwreck Island (incomplete, with instructions)
#6066 Forestmen Camouflaged Outpost
#6103 Castle Minifigures
Between all of those sets there were only a handful of missing pieces, all of which I was able to put easily out of my bulk. There are some broken flag clips unfortunately as well, so I'm still needing to replace all of the red flags on the BSB. The baseplates also have some warping. But otherwise, the pieces were for the most part in exceptional condition. Additionally I have a handful of additional minifigures, accessories, gold pieces, animals, and more miscellaneous pieces left over as well.
It's been a lot of fun going through all of that and getting everything cleaned, sorted, inventoried, and built.
From S@H…
I think I'm supposed to be able to understand them.
Today I finally met @KungFuKenny in person! We shared stories of our Inside Tour experiences, 2018 and 2022 respectively, after first connecting here in the Brickset Forum in November 2019 when he received his Billund golden ticket.
Yeah think the intent was boxes from September 2023, I misunderstood the announcement as well.
I decided to play around with some different lighting conditions trying to see if I could get a bit of a sunset effect using red LEDs. The results were mixed.
But, photography aside, I'm absolutely loving this set! Overall such a good design with a very good utilization of the raised baseplate. The harbor side is fairly sparse, but ripe for additions and play opportunities.
The process has already begun, but I'm really excited to see how well I'm able to capture the whole collection in photos.
I’ve just built the Jurassic World Quetzalcoatlus set #76947 - near the end you make a small sub build to put the tools on to store inside the plane and it’s intended to have a dark blue 1x2 tile on it. I searched through the pieces I’d poured out from the bags and it turned out that I didn’t have that piece at all, but instead had a round 1x1 brick in black which isn’t even in the set inventory. Maybe I can use it as another canister to go with the fire extinguisher build though?
