I've also managed to complete BrickLink-ing #6861 X1 Patrol Craft and am very close to completing #6901 Mobile Lab, but the Trans-Green windshield (Slope 33 3 x 6 with Inner Walls) and Trans-Green Brick 1 x 4 without Bottom Tubes are impossible to source in the UK, so I am going to have to venture onto the Continent to get them at some point.
Finally, I bought the #31129 Creator 3-in-1 Majestic Tiger, which was a really great build and I have BL-ed the parts to make JKBrickworks' Swimming Koi Fish mod (https://jkbrickworks.com/swimming-koi-fish/), which I'm looking forward to building shortly.
Tonight I also learned I have a white stickered 2x4 brick from the 'copter in #8196 so I'll whip it up soon.
I also built set #6249 Pirates Ambush earlier this week.
Also finally built #76162 which was in the $31 31-gal haul from this time last year. IDK where the bad guy Taskmaster is; there were A LOT of nibbled/marked up pieces & I trashed whatever parts were chopped up regardless of rarity or value cuz IMO sub-quality parts are cringey.
Upper Left: My child hood favorites King's Castle (6080) and Black Falcon's Fortress (6074) [with 6030 and 6061] are on ether side of my kids first LEGO set, Medieval Market Village (10193)
Upper Center: Mill Village Raid (7189) and Outpost Attack (7948) are the only official sets on display in the center. The Löwenstein Castle (BL19001) with expansion does not fit in a single cubie, so I have the main build in the center and the expansion on the right. I have two more cubbies to swap out in the center and two more medieval sets. King's Castle (7946) and the Medieval Blacksmith (21325) will fill out the center section.
Upper Right: The latest entry into the medieval collection, Creator Medieval Castle (31120) and the unofficial Löwenstein Castle - Official Expansion (rebrickable) MOC fills out two of the last three cubies.
Just three+ months to go.
Also completed the cars from #8197. Man that cop car is sssssexxxxaaayyyyy!!!
Should have #9474 Helm's Deep sorted out over the weekend, maybe even two of them. Finished building #6271 Imperial Flagship from my most recent Saver's bulk lot, just need to find the minifigures. Looks like most of #6273 Rock Island Refuge is in there except for the raised baseplate.
As you can see, the main inspiration is a modern blocky-type building, which happens to be "easy" for a beginner in term of architecture. I've also been inspired by the monochrome collections on here, especially that of the set Everyone is Awesome, for which I've wanted to build a home akin to the Lego House in Billund. It forced me to use some pieces that don't exist in certain colors, but the idea is there.
The building is meant as an apartment building, tiny studios as the minifigs need a place to live. I've tried coming up with some extra accessories for each of them but this is definitely a place I struggle with. If you have ideas and inspiration, go wild and let me know.
On the roof you can see a little community garden, some air-circulation/conditioning, and the all necessary antenna so that the building has wi-fi. I'm a bit disappointed with the antenna, I can't find a way to make it look good, and I'm not sure what pieces to use.
Small common areas are available, with some original designs for activities. Not that they're very complicated... The mailboxes, door frames, windows and beds account for 99% of the color errors I see as they've obviously never been done like this. I'm considering changing the whole building to black/white/greys as you see in real life. The tiling also needs work, but I struggle in creating so many original patterns that keep each rooms' unique color patterns as well.
The little front flower garden was inspired by messy front lawns and also the new succulent set, for a dry-mixed up look. I tried creating a proper tree as it's one of the "non-written" rules about modulars, but those pieces I really struggle with. I added a cactus as failsafe...
So yeah, if you've read this far, know that I'm really proud of my first creation, especially with the work I've put on redoing some of the floors, walls, supports, once I understood the patterns and the overall structure revealed itself to me. But there's a huge lack of architectural details, maybe not as necessary for this more minimalistic style, but as I want to dive into the genre without copying too many techniques from the official modulars, I though it'd be nice to ask the community to comment a little.
You just need a bike rack in back for their color-matched bicycles... ;)
Definitely a bike rack, front or back or even side.
Received them all in a short space of time so was sat there looking at a stack of Star Wars sets to build, couldn't decide which one to go for, so built the Mustang instead.
Then because every good Mustang should be modified (and because the set came with all the bits to do so), this beauty has gone fully super charged.
Really enjoyed building this. I cannot fault the building process (the printing down the side of the car could be slightly less wobbly if I'm going to pick any holes though). Would highly recommend this set to anyone even if you're not really a car person (which I'm not) as it's a fantastic looking set.
I added 70404 and 7093, both from my sorted drawers.
@datsunrobbie it's available for trade toward your Helm's Deep-- check your messages!!
Happy wife, happy life. ...right?
