As Tyler completes #75903, I struggle through #8063. When he watches any show he has the related LEGO sets/minifigs nearby.

I am gathering the parts to build BL19001 : Löwenstein Castle + Official Expansion.

264 elements short, bricklink'd the remaining 903 pieces for just under $200. I regret not purchasing that set :(

I am starting with the expansion. So far I am impressed and have enjoyed the first dozen or so pages. Can't go any further till my bricklink orders arrive. All the red and white are substitutes.

Built these two over the weekend, interesting  little builds with the flapping wing mechanisms.

I just put #21057 together over the past two evenings. Shown with extra pieces, oddly including four small pink hubcaps of a different design than the four called for in the instructions. Also interesting is that the white building at far right is never named on the box or in the instructions. I guess it’s just supposed to be a random background building.

In anticipation of 10305 Lion King’s Castle 90th Anniversary set I am slowly replacing all my modular buildings with medieval sets. Currently up: Löwenstein Castle with Official Expansion.

My build is stalled as I wait on a few bricklink shipments. So far this build has been fantastic. I highly recommend this build to any castle fan.

I recently built Jerac's new T-65 and T-70 X-wings.  They're incredible models that far surpass all previous custom X-wings I've ever seen, even Jerac's original T-65.  I highly recommend them.

Also finally finished #8063. Ordered the paper manuals from nearby-- I'm done using online PDFs, my eyes don't easily discern darker colors anymore & when I zoom in the graphics get blurry & jagged.

BONUS: seller & I chatted a bit via email & I learned she is selling her vast Technic collection before moving soon & she's sending a list tonight!!!

    Green Grocer?
Yep! Wasn’t sure if the piles of sand green would be enough of a giveaway. Starting Day 2 (and instruction book 2) this morning. I did have one sand green 1x2 hinge break. I didn’t check if it’s available direct from Lego—I doubt it—but I should be able be able to get a used one off Bricklink for 30 cents or so, as long as I can find it somewhere that has other pieces I can use…

    Progress so far:

Green Grocer is one of my most beloved sets. My oldest daughter (now 20) loved this set. She decided to sell it once her dark age started, I paid her fair market value at the time ($270) and kept the set secure. One day she will thank me.

If she wants it back I will have a hole in my modular building collection.

Enjoy the build, it was years ahead in the modular series.

I did very much enjoy building it. It's amazing for its era, for sure! It's also really interesting building it after having built most of the more recent modulars. The line has evolved in some really incredible ways. GG is a classic, and I completely understand the reverence shown to it.

Unfortunately, my "certified complete" set had an inventory issue: It seemed to be missing 2 1x8 LBG bricks. It also had a couple extra parts. Or maybe I messed up a few steps really badly. I don't see anything obvious though, so I think the inventory was just a little off. Good news: I had some sets I could cannibalize for the 1x8 bricks. I also had a couple sand green hinge plates break during assembly. I've already placed a Bricklink order to replace all of those -- and also get started on acquiring track ballast supplies.

Kermit The Frog assembled. It is so satisfying to set him near Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny and know that I can turn him into Luke Skywalker, Superman or Marty McFly. Nothing new for this forum, but Lego is neat!

The silly thing is, those sand green hinge bricks aren't even visible once the set is assembled.  When I bricklinked my first one, I just used DBG hinges and it looked the same.

Similar with the dark blue arches in the Cafe Corner, they're hidden under the stairs, but visible in an alternate build, back when they were thinking these could be 3-in-1 kind of sets.

Completely agree that it's pretty silly that Lego used an "unusual" color for an area that wasn't ever visible. Thankfully the pin only broke on one side of the hinge on both pieces, so I was able to use them anyway while building the set. I almost just swapped in some spare black hinges I had, but I decided to keep the set 100% true to the design, even if it's not visible.

Since I only need 2 replacements, It was something like $0.70 even keeping it sand green. Could have certainly gotten away with much cheaper options in another color like DBG or LBG. I probably could have also found them somewhere with a little savings on the other pieces I ordered, but at this point, we're talking probably a couple bucks extra for a set that Bricklink estimates near $900-$1k value.

One enjoyable part of a giant project is skipping around and building components out of order.  It's a marathon instead of a sprint, and an exercise in organization...and kitchen counter space management. =oD
As with the ISD Eviscerator, I'm mixing the old and new greys on purpose to achieve a 'time in service' appearance.

Well I hate to drag the topic down once again with my paltry builds but I whipped up the monster truck cop car best I could from #8182. Rebrickable says I can do the rest of the cars in that set & I'm considering ordering the sticker sheet.

(If anyone has a spare sheet & wants to trade, LMK)

I mainly build digitally these days, due to time, space, cost and perhaps a little laziness. Though I think I do enjoy the whole creative process of doing the backgrounds etc as well. Here's my latest vintage style design in my favourite castle faction - wolfpack.

The Wolfpack Mountain Pass (It hinges closes down the middle of the arch but I didn't want to insert too many pics).

I have finished the Official Expansion. This build lacks the "finished" feeling of an official set, but that complaint is easily overcome by the wonderful build.

The Löwenstein Castle - Official Expansion has 1627 pieces (left) and the 3-in-1 Creator Castle has 1426 pieces (right). There really is no fair comparison between the two when it comes to the building process and end product.

I do find it interesting how the scale is close to the same between the two. The Löwenstein Castle looks so miniaturized as a standalone product. However, next to the 3-in-1 it holds its own quite well.

Now back to building the BL19001 : Löwenstein Castle...

@lowlead I consider #80020 a spacecraft even though they call it a jet. Either way, it just looks awesome.

As you already know, I only just recently made the connection between your Instagram account and who you are here on the Brickset forums. I really have been loving your content on IG!! Wolfpack is probably my favorite overall Castle faction as well (Forestmen give them a run for their money)!

@pxchris Brickset bros! 😆. Thanks, yeah I setup my insta exclusively for my digital builds. It's fun connecting the dots between people's collecting habits (on here) and moc building elsewhere.

I love building for forestmen as well, but think wolfpack remain my fave faction. Just completed some instructions for a 'big' (biggest I've done) forestmen build so look out for those!

My grand children are in awe of the sets I am building.  Started with a 50 pound box of vintage Legos from my children that has been in storage for the pass 20+ years.  Spent a month just sorting bricks.  4 major themes in the grouping: Space, Pirates, Town and Paradisa sets.  Time frame for the sets are 1970's to 1990's.  Almost finished building all the Paradisa sets so next picture will be of them.
