I was in the lounge watching TV instead of in the kitchen. The owls are still there, but will be retiring soon as they've faded and ripped.

My headcanon is that the 2019 City rover is Mark Watney's rover from the movie version of The Martian, and the 2020 Creator rover is his rover from the book version. The Rambling Brick has a nice review of the 2022 City rover with some good comparison photos with the old Classic Space All Terrain Vehicle. It's a pretty good match!

The new space sets are a black hole. If you buy one your not getting out until you buy them all.
    They are way cool!

@iwybs I think #6901 Mobile Lab is a better match: 12 wheels, manipulator arm on the front, radar dish on the roof... Both are awesome!

^ Wasn’t it more of an 80’s status symbol? It was made from 74 to 90.

Valid point... I was just thinking about how often early 90s rappers would throw these cars in their music videos.

I wish this car was red instead.  Shared the image with a few friends who have a casual AFOL interest and they also questioned the color (before I even shared my thoughts on it.)  I think red would have made it easier to avoid the difference in color between the white of the bricks and the windshield.

Building the new Hoth AT-ST, bags 1 and 2 done. I must say that the imperial probe droid is incredibly realistic- it falls apart so easily, it must've had a self destruct!

In reality, like certain parts of the UCS AT-AT build, the clutch strength is really poor in places

I've done the opposite of building and parted out a number of models I'll no longer have space for when my recent orders arrive.

I did manage to put some of the parts to good use though to mod my #75288 AT-AT. I wasn't too keen on the black squint and wanted a red window, so I exchanged the black 2x4 angled plates with grey plates and added 2 red trans plates to the roof tile stack. It's not perfect but I feel it's much better than stock.

Making progress on Mickey and Minnie…

I have to say that I’m really enjoying the build process— lots of unique connections and interesting techniques.  Plus, as a Classic Space fan, Mickey’s nose holds a special place in my heart…

With last years Ferrari #76895 being red, I think they had to use a different color. This years Supra #76901 is yellow so black or white, right?

Glad to hear it's been enjoyable and wasn't just me being an overly geeky Disney fan while I built it!

The helmet nose is a great touch!

^It's no @KungFuKenny tippy-glass, but will do the trick!

I've never built a modular, but I agree that this first step of tiling the baseplate always looks highly appealing and satisfying to me. The closest I've come is some of my Winter Village builds and MOCs.

    Enjoy the build!

I have a VERY strong desire to build lately. But, with a pending move only a couple of months away and a few months in storage beyond that, I find it very difficult to break the seals on anything. Filling my time with part acquisition for more WV MOCs and projects at least.

Ever since I got #76205 Gargantua I have thought the beast looked more like a Kraken and decided to do what I suppose would be called an alternate build of #40487 Sailboat with a Kraken attacking. I have finally started on this ...
with the sailboat mostly build and next would come the Kraken ... any thoughts or ideas are welcome as doing some thing like this is new to me and NOT my strong suit!

    Finally… finished…

I don’t even want to look at this set again for a while. I bought it secondhand, and it arrived completely mixed in several freezer bags. Only missing the statue from the temple, one cell phone, and one leaf.

@GrannyLEGO well you already did the hard part...coming up with a great idea! You could build only half of the gargantua like it was just coming out of the water. Put the lady on the boat in one of his tentacles or just half the lady as he sucks her down into the deep!

Hmmm ... I will have to see how the Kraken part of the build goes, but maybe the lady in the tentacles would work (or half of her). At the moment I am building the Kraken per the Gargantua instructions and will then remove or change what I need to do to put it in the water attacking the boat. I did already choose different heads for the minifigs so the lady is horrified and the man is sweating and anxious at the wheel.

    It looks great!
I downloaded the instructions, I have a partial solution to the grey socket joints: you could switch them to the dark grey ones that have a ball on the other end. You'd have to omit the red 1x2 bricks with studs on the side, to make room for the balls, but I think it would work. I think the dark grey would look a little better than the medium grey. Or, if you're willing to modify (butcher, mutilate, depends how you feel about this) you could cut the balls off the parts. (Let the jokes fly!)

Looks good - maybe try moving a couple of tentacles forward towards the boat.

@560Heliport That idea about using the dark grey ball joint pieces sounds good. I do think my husband would have problems with me cutting the balls off but your suggestion regarding the 1x2 red ones may make that unnecessary.

@Lo1sJess The bigger tentacles might be better closer to the boat, I'll have to try it. I am not happy with what I have to do to attach tentacles and those bigger ones just don't look quite right, maybe there is a way to get them angled a little.

My hats off to all those who can create modulars etc!!!!

With all the rumors around "10305 Lion King’s Castle - 90th Anniversary Set" I had to bring out an old one...
I could not build #6080 without the apposing #6074 nearby. I also had to build #6041 to supply arms to and profit off the conflict.

I am so excited for the reveal of #10305

Well, I had hoped to attend Bricks Cascade, but life interfered. So I built my #6271 Imperial Flagship tonight at this month's meeting of the Minnesota Military Figure Society, a bunch of, mostly, middle-aged guys who build plastic military models- tanks, planes, ships, figures, and other models- we're not too strict about subjects being military, a cool model is a cool model. I often bring LEGO.
I was definitely bummed that you weren't able to make it out, hopefully next year! Excellent choice of model to bring to your club. :-)

I decided to just build some stuff. After a recent purchase from @lessjunkfood, I couldn't hold off any longer.

I've wanted these sets since coming out of my dark ages several years ago. I'm beyond thrilled to finally have them in my collection! I can't wait to get moved and give them the rightful place of honor they deserve!

#5510 from 1986. I love how dense the instructions were back then, but they also included the callouts so you wouldn’t miss a part.

Viewing threads like this is dangerous for my bank balance! Most of my recent builds have been pretty small, but enjoying building #71374 Nintendo Entertainment System just now, couple bags at a time. Just need to find space for it.

This is only of my favorite Model Team sets! It's relatively simple, but I've just always loved it. I agree on the instructions, I actually find them a lot of fun to build from.
