42141: McLaren Formula 1 Race Car

I'm stoked, McLaren F1 is my favorite team. I searched for "42141" on this forum and to my surprise nothing came up. I just wanted to see how many others are looking forward to this. Is this a Lego store/online exclusive or will it be sold at Target/Walmart (USA)? I'm wondering if any have been put out for sale a few days too early.

For followers of F1, their 2022 car is beautiful and I love the Gulf livery paint scheme.

I've just finished building it.  It's absolutely gorgeous.  No 'functions' to speak of, but it's a beautiful display piece.  Big too - about two feet long.

Yeah, but that's not the "forum" and isn't searchable. But I do appreciate the link. There are a few dum-dums there. But like @BooTheMightyHamster this is for fans/owners of the car.

I want to share two great photos of this model being enjoyed by the McLaren team. I would hazard a guess that everyone from Zak Brown to the barista in their hospitality motorhome received one. Tomorrow I'm heading the the Lego store to buy one. (Even though i'm TWO modular buildings behind).

To refer back to comments in the original announcement post, I understand the price gripes. This model is most comparable to Porsche 911 (42096). Someone even did a great job at making a B model F1 from that set. (last tangent: That B model is even being sold by Chinese fake Lego companies).

The Porsche is $150 for 1580 pcs. This one is $180 for 1432 pcs. The Porsche surely has more big parts, but the McLaren is 15 cm longer and 7 cm wider. Their powertrains are nearly identical, save for the suspension. Both are licensed by major manufacturers. So my only guess is that the general LEGO price increase happened between these two along with new parts.

Heard a rumor that Lego is releasing a new sticker set. I have no idea what changed (sponsors). I'm currently trying to get more info.

Given the variety of brands on those stickers, I’m betting somebody forgot to get permission to use one or more of them.

Popped up on the teams social media accounts. Ahead of the Australian round of the season and 1:1 scale version of the set has been made!

Do you think this is why it’s still unavailable? I got an order in 3/1 but it still hasn’t shipping.
