A question from New Elementary for those of you who it might concern.
Every couple of months Tim publishes a list/table showing sets released with the most new elements:
    https://www.newelementary.com/2021/10/which-lego-sets-have-most-new-parts.html#more
you can view previous reports here too:

The question is, do you find the information useful?

    Simple answer - yes.

I read the monthly new part list every time, love it. The compulsion may be a little fed by really wanting LEGO to release a 27448 in light bluish grey for a detail on a model I've nearly finished, but it's great to quickly see what's new and what possibilities there are.

The "which lego sets have the most new parts list" is interesting but not particularly useful to me. The "new lego parts list", however, is awesome and I pore over every element on the list.

I love love love the New Lego parts list that gets published every month! However, my wallet doesn`t and it costs me so much in new parts each month! I think I am spending more on parts than new sets at the moment! It adds up very quickly......

Yes, I find those lists very useful! It definitely fuels some of my B&P orders.

From #21330 Home Alone (as noted in the Leaks thread, article comments, and elsewhere)

    6 Lite/Pane Door with a Pet Door/Flap

I would have omitted the square panel outline on the bottom half of the door, since the flap is too tall for that outline.  The door is also notable for having 6 lites in the upper half, instead of four (as in the classic door part # 3861 and the current # 60623).  I'm sure we'll see this door used in future Friends and City sets.

27507 tiles with printed train tracks

I wonder if we'll see this in one of the rumored holiday GWPs, as these would be perfect for around a Christmas tree.   (For those wanting a better look, The Brothers Brick review has a close-up photo of the tiles).

And, for fellow trans-yellow enthusiasts, the recently released #60295 Stunt Show Arena introduces a new color of the 39891 windscreen.

While it's great to finally get another type of door, I hope they dont overuse this 6 pane one with the cat flap given that not every house should have a catflap.
The traditional 4 pane door is more versatile so I hope they give us both options.

Sadly Lego has a very annoying habit of introducing new versions of pieces but cancelling the old which sucks because both are useful, and as in this case, often the new part is useful, but less so in certain circumstances.
You wouldnt have a cat flap for a shop for example.
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 976
I like the 6 paned window up top on the new door but would like to see them make this door without the catflap.

^Maybe they could make a glass insert coloured white that fits the hole where the door for the catflap goes?

New 3x3 curved tiles in the new Disney sets, as well as a butterfly.

^I thought that was a new Butterfly mold!

One of the earlier pictures of this set made it almost look like the slope curved 1x1 double pieces on the roof had ridges or texture to them. Bummed they're just the standard bits.

That 3x3 curved tile appeared in #71390 earlier this year, but strangely seems to have passed by without much comment given how useful it could be. Part is https://brickset.com/parts/design-79393

I'm on mobile and can't search easily so I will say it here instead of on the sausage thread: brown (dark orange?) Sausages are here in the CNY sets!

CNY sets also have a penguin being used in a set for the first time, and ice sculpture of a penguin, along with the 1x1 trans red minifig heads with tigers on them

There's some gold parts that look like a rounded 1x2 plate and tile sandwiching two plate-high vertical bars under the dish in the 80108 Lunar New Year Tradition.  They certainly look useful, if that's what they are.

I was looking at that as well but couldn't quite figure out what was going on. I'm inclined to think it's a 1 x 2 version of 20482, as the bar looks moulded where it meets the tile/plate.

    https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=20482

Edit: no... the bar isn't tall enough for that. Maybe it's all one part?

Good point.  I can definitely see how the upper 1x2 rounded plate might be just that while the bottom part is a new separate piece, like you described.  The bars might be a tall enough to connect into the hollow studs in the upper 1x2 plate.

There's black parts clipped onto the inner gold bar.

Yes I wasn't meaning it's a new part, just that there's something there on the new part for it to clip on to :)

Not an actual new part but a proposition for one:

An inverted part 3659 (1x4 arch), or perhaps more useful, that piece but split into two separate pieces that when put together make an inverted 1x4 arch.

    Basically a 1x2 version of part 18653.
  • BrickchapBrickchap Member Posts: 1,357
@Casper_vd_Korf Oh! It already exists! LOL. Thanks for sharing! Pity it's only in the Stratocaster, hopefully it becomes more common soon.

There's a 1x4 version of the 1x1 'hump tile' in the new Singapore Skyline set - in Tan on the side of the right-hand building.

It looks like there are 3 colours: grey, red (well dark orange, it seems to be) and black. The set with the tuk-tuk has the black and red ones, the grey one is in the school set with the bus.

In the fire fighters sets, there are new kitten pieces! I hope those come to B&P, because I'm not in need of those juniorised fire sets....

The teal container at the sardine factory has new doors I think? They fit in the 1*6*5 window frame which debuted a year or two back it looks like.

If I'm not mistaken, there are new Minidoll dress pieces in one of the new Disney Princess sets?

Also cool dome parts in #60350 (trans light blue) and #60351 (white).

Also saw somewhere that minidolls will have dual expression heads starting in 2022. I'll be interested to see how they accomplish this as the head molds usually have a nose and chin fairly defined?

New helicopter cockpit piece (about time) in the police bank set I think it was. Quite modern although I don't like it since it would only work for a helicopter, while the old piece was useful for both aircraft and helicopters. Furthermore, although a tad more realistic, it is so prefabricated that it looks like the entire front of the helicopter is a cheap plastic non Lego helicopter, which doesn't look good.

Speaking of cockpit pieces, I'm not sure why Lego never kept using the new space shuttle cockpit piece with the divided squares windscreen, they used it once in dark blue for a Deep Sea theme flying boat but that's it.

There's also the Ford Trimotor, Junkers trimotor type cockpit piece in white in that one Jungle Exploration set that was never used again, and a windscreen piece was never made for it.

What's with creating specialised pieces that could be used for a wide variety of things, but only using it in a couple of sets and then never again??

Ok I've trawled the sets and found quite a few pieces of note:

Firstly, new kitten and squirrel elements as noted. Both are also in light bluish grey. Squirrel element appears in quite a few sets and I suspect might become quite ubiquitous.

Also note printed acorn 1x1 round tiles, as well as the first new colour for 2022, a Neon Yellow.

Secondly, connector/joint elements. The green one looks ugly.

The orange one looks like it should be a click joint, but isn't. Note also the new chest plate thing with slopes. Both appear in a few new sets, as does the thigh/shoulder guard element, which looks somewhat more useful.

Now there's new dome/windscreen elements. Curiously the rest of the cockpit looks new too, as (I think) are the gold dish things which look like rock bases.

Talking of rocks, this looks new to me. The flame things look new too, and look slightly like they may be some kind of creature.

Next wehave some kind of splat element, used in a few sets. It seems to be able to be fired from the existing 1x4 side firing brick. Oh and the ice cream thing is something which fits over a head and torso.

Now we get into really interesting stuff - finally we get a recolour of the mixels ball joint!

And talking of colours, the new Neon Yellow comes as a torso in a few sets to keep the monochrome minifig collectors happy...

And lastly we have a puzzle. What exactly is the colour of this tooth element...?

There is a biohazard suit in one of the fire fighter sets as well, along with another clown in the hospital set.  Its going to be another expensive parts buy year for me.
