Today I made a 1x1 plate in my CAD class, which is probably the closest thing to MOCing I will be doing for a while :(
What type of CAD are you learning? What's your career path?

I am a CAD specialist with a heavy focus on mechanical design.

So far, I am planning to get a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Right now I am learning to use SolidWorks, although I will also delve into AutoCAD later in the semester.
Very cool, I hope that you enjoy it! I'm a SolidWorks professional and have trained a number of junior drafters in it. AutoCAD (the OG CAD that I first learned wayyy back) is a completely different monster, but having a foundation in both will serve you well. Most modern mechanical engineering uses some form of 3D parametric modeling software, so at least once you understand the fundamentals you should be able to transfer between software platforms with just a moderate learning curve.

(Sorry for the off-topic... but hey, we can model up LEGO bricks pretty niftily.)

Oh I really should read the rules lol.. good to know!
You never noticed the lack of them?! ;-)
This must be about the only site on the whole internet that isn't plastered with memes. I don't mind the odd meme from time to time, but I find the lack of them here quite refreshing! :-)
I myself enjoy a good meme from time to time, but I agree, the rules prohibiting them here do serve a good purpose (even if I've gotten my hand slapped for trying to slip one in on an off-topic discussion).
But how's everyone's feelings on the lack of emoji in our forum? I do find myself somewhat missing them from time to time, even though it does make me actually think out what I'm writing more.

So far I have found most the knights and some not to bad. Im slowly cleaning them as I dont want to make there stickers worse. The down side is the flag is missing its sticker and the large sticker on the back center keep is missing. I also have only found 1 visor for the knights but i still have more to sort and visors are small and might sit at the bottom I hope. But ya I love castle theme so I am still pretty pumped about the find. Going to add the original knights in my medieval town for a special thing.. Just have to decide how.

There’s no rule about emoji, right? I slip them in from time to time if there’s no equivalent “emoticon” that expresses what I want. But I do appreciate the restraint shown here. I’m on another non-Lego forum where multiple users grossly overuse the animated “clinking beer glasses” emoji, frequently as the only message content, and it’s annoying as hell.

I suppose I mean specifically that there is no insertable emoji with in the forum platform itself. You can use emoji if you're viewing the forum from a mobile device, but from my experience those don't typically show up when viewing the forum on a desktop and inserting emoji from a desktop isn't a very straight-forward process (typically requires a browser add-on that may or may not work all that well).

I have a great idea for a LEGO Mr. Potato Head. Sadly, I can't print on bricks, nor do parts #66858 and #17485  exist in Bright Blue and Nougat respectively.

… we keep things traditional on the Brickset Forum. Less sensory overload I find!

Status wise I’m completing my VIDIYO Boombox at the moment after completing most of the rest of the range. I haven’t been able to find a Robo Hip Hop Car yet but happy to spend the RRP on it (e.g. with VIP points at a Lego Store). Trying to complete the collection so hope the second series of Bandmates appears soon.

Today's status: I have fully inventoried my "extra" sets and noted their approximate value off Bricklink's 6 month sales and current listings. I've also pulled together a list of some of my highest-priority Wanted retired sets (mostly modulars and WV) and their value as well.

I keep putting off a trip down to Atlanta Brick Company (about an hour and a half away with traffic) for a big trade. Now I'm at least a little better prepared for when I do make it. Maybe it'll happen Monday because of the holiday. Maybe this weekend's a bad idea because DragonCon is in town and they could have more customers than normal and less time for negotiation?

You could post some of your wanted list here on the forum? I don’t have any experience with the Atlanta Brick Co. but if it’s a retail place it would seem to be more expensive?

They’ll have higher prices, for sure, but that’ll be offset in a lot of cases by not having shipping. I did post on the Marketplace this morning, at least for the modulars I’m looking for. They’re higher priority for me than WV, but I’d also love to get a couple of the pre-train WV sets.

I found a set I completely forgot I had. Temple of Airjitzu. Very tempted to sell it considering the crazy prices it's going for new which mine is. If it was Star Wars I'd build it but with Home Alone coming and other sets I want maybe selling it would be the best thing in the long run.

Same here - I got mine from click & collect at Smyths but stock levels in so many places are so low it’s going to be hard for people to find them if they leave it any longer. Depends if TLG produced any extra compared to last year.

I feel that my "Bley plate" quotient has increased by a significant amount!

I mean, it's fairly obvious, looking at the set, but now that I'm about 3/4 way through building my Death Star and looking at the large pile of them on my desk, ready for the next stage, it has me pondering Lego things... Can you possibly have too many Bley plates?

    ;-)

@KungFuKenny that Fabuland set was called 'Noisy Neighbours' in the UK. Having spent the last 14 years living in a block of flats where there are many a noisy neighbour I am surprised that Lisa Lamb never wacked Lionel over the head with her carpet beater after listening to him play that accordion for hours on end.

Noisy Neighbours? It’s not at all baby blue, and I see no resemblance to Manchester at all!

Finally got Everyone Is Awesome today, after a friend very kindly helped me buy a copy from the States (due to it being ‘unavailable’ here). Can’t wait to get building!

If it makes you feel better about the box, I, being from and living in the States, got my copy of that set from the States as well, and it was also squished. :P

Hope you enjoy the build!  I quite like the set for what it is. :)

Thanks! I’m not too fussed about the box really, since I’m opening and building it anyway. Always figured the box would get squished somehow while travelling all the way from the States to Asia. At least I have it now. :-)

Despite calling at two Lego stores and not finding the teal Brick suit guy, they weren't completely wasted trips as both stores (Milton Keynes and Bluewater) had a good range of white bricks and plates in, which will help with this year's revamp of my Christmas set up, so as stacking is once again allowed, I filled up three PAB cups at each store.

^That looks to be just about as close to an ideal PAB wall that I've seen in recent years for me and my WV. I would have dropped a bomb filling cups.

I had a trip a couple years back that landed me a ton of 4x6 white plates. I finally used them all with my WV last year and need to replenish! Maybe I'll risk a trip out in hopes of them having what I need!

From what I've seen so far, the US stores haven't gotten any of the teal brick suits yet. So, per usual, we're behind the curve on this side of the pond.

As for a status, I was in the LEGO Store yesterday to pick out a set for my birthday and walked out without picking up either the #76161 Batwing or the #10295 Porsche which were the top two sets on my want list, simply because I have absolutely no idea where I'll display either one of them and I can't entertain the thought of getting a birthday set to just have it sit in a box (sadly even my #76139 Batmobile is even still sitting in a box awaiting building). So I walked away with a smaller set which I know I'll be able to build and enjoy immediately! I think it was the happier decision. (I did also preorder the #10290 Pickup Truck which I actually wanted more than the Porsche anyways).

A couple of the other large sets that have been on my want list I think are pretty much falling off of it: #10279 because after seeing it next to #10220 which is one of my old faves, I just think it's going to look far too out of place. I was initially super excited about the T2, but the more photos and reviews of it I saw the less enthused I was. I've been a big fan of the Creator Expert vehicles for quite a long time, but have definitely found myself getting much more selective in which of them I end up picking up. I do believe that I will still get the Porsche 911 as some point before it retires, because I really do like the look of the build, the T2 I think I can definitely live without. I've also mostly removed the #10283 Shuttle off of my list as well. I still think it's an absolutely gorgeous model, but my biggest concern is that I have no idea where I'd display it and honestly the reflective stickers are a huge turn off for me. I love the Saturn V and Lunar Lander models I have and had every intent of adding the ISS and Shuttle along with them, but alas all of these NASA models are huge display pieces and my space is finite.

Status, I thought I was done with star wars but with the risk of lego focusing on hoth again.... I just bought 2 new AT-AT's at christmas but now there is rumors of AT-ST's and hoth battle packs to go with the UCS AT-AT... Why do they make it soo hard! Empire strikes back is like my kryptonite that will force me to buy it all.. Meanwhile I was about to pick up diagon alley at the lego store when my wife told me she brought me to my happy place for a reason and had news.. My life is about to get vastly more expensive so I passed on diagon alley for now...

My status is "impressed with LEGO customer service". I built the WALL-E that I purchased from @Bumblepants on Saturday. It was a fun build, and he told me before I bought it that he did not have the "neck fix" kit. I'm sure I have the parts around here somewhere, but contacted LEGO to see if the kit was available. LEGO is sending the kit, so in a week I'll be able to fix it. Next up will be adding Power Functions parts.
Ya there customer service is 2nd to none.. I do not need them often (twice in all my memory) and both times they resolved everything beyond my expectations..

Honestly, the stickers for the Space Shuttle aren't that big of a problem. I put mine in by hand, no tools, no liquids to help align them, didn't take a lot of time to get every alignment perfect, in maybe half an hour? And they still look good to me.  It helped that I made sure to do the stickers before building anything else, so I was all enthusiastic about the build instead of waiting until they're one annoying last hurdle at the end before the set is finished.

Yesterday was my birthday and we did our annual trip to Disney World and the Disney Springs LEGO store. My wife wanted me to get the Discovery shuttle but I instead got the SW sets I’ve been wanting. She also surprised me a couple of days earlier with #10281.

We visited Galaxy’s Edge for the first time. It’s a shame that Disney only seems to acknowledge the sequel trilogy. The only trace of TCW, Bad Batch or Mando in all of Disney World are the limited number of sets available at the LEGO store.

Edit to add: I really wanted to buy the 4+ Mickey Plane for my son, but it was out of stock. Same with the 60’s Batmobile, which has been out of stock at every LEGO store I’ve visited.

It's good news, just scary... My 2nd is on the way but super early and there was complications with my 1st which is why he 10 and we still never had another.. It isn't even supposed to be possible statistically soo we are now in the scary "risk period".. 6 weeks in, 6 weeks to go until doctors say we can sigh with relief.. I hope it is a girl!
