My Wallyworld has been pretty boring since the reset after the new year (which took ages, I think it was a week or so into February before they finally got anything new out). No good sales, nothing special to really speak of, and a lot of those asinine $.01 increases.

Haven't been in Walmart in ages
Found #30578 in a polybags tray. Definitely getting for my LEGO dog collection

Saw #41933 for the LEGO music collection but I don't like the DOTS bracelets at full price, will add to my wishlist

#41443 $15, might get that when it goes on sale
    #11007 clearance $3.20
#31108 at $56 and a few other small rollbacks

swung into the local Walmart to pick up an item for a family dinner. Of course, a trip to the lego aisle is required. They were unloading a cardboard shelf endcap display that had been smashed on one side in the corner. the sets in that space were #76175. I asked if they were gonna mark down the damages ones and they said yes. walked out with one for $39.

Free storage playmat buying a $40+ set at WalMart. Store sign implies 1 big set but online wording indicates multiple sets that add up to $40

#41431 isn't a bad selection but a bit sterp for a brick box with only a couple minis

#41926 I like for all the parts including the cupcake holders and 8x8 round plates

#41443 is something I already considered getting

The list of eligible sets is pretty much everything currently being sold except the newest releases.  There is a list of eligible sets.

What does this “storage playmat” look like?
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 976
It's a round thing with a draw string that you pull to close up the whole thing into a sack.  It has the Lego Masters logo printed on it.  Can't tell what it's made of but if you click the arrows on the banner at the top of the page linked to in KingAlanI's post the pictures of it are there.

It looks quite small actually, compared to the size of the bricks shown.  Assuming they are actually to scale and not just photoshopped together, or course.

Would that be cabinets they sell for storing LEGO, or is your store keeping the LEGO locked up while on display?

My Walmart put out clearance stickers on a ton of sets today. Police boat, hogwarts sets, city garage. A lot of 20-30$ off discounts. Even Shang chi sets were cut down.

Yeah, missed out of Hall of Armor near me on discount. A couple were available for 36 USD but was not going to burn fuel and 30 minutes to find out that the inventory was off and they were not really available any longer.

It is about time! I'm waiting for the next level before I pounce on those. But did get #76176 Escape from the Ten Rings for $19.80. Weird price but I'll take 30% off a new Marvel set.

Picked up Mickey Art, City House and City Garage.  Nothing special noted for Star Wars or HP and didn’t have the Walmart app and they apparently don’t have price scanners anymore.

Yup, the price scanners (if they still existed and worked at all) have been replaced with signs telling you to use the app 😐

I was very happy with Mickey but grabbed the other 2 sets out of an unhealthy obsession with LEGO deals.  Would have liked the Creator Rover or Falcon but price tags didn’t indicate anything.  My Hoth Falcon is nice but might need a replacement.

I was hoping to find a Hall of Armor but had to settle for:
    #60265 Ocean Exploration Base
    #41424 Jungle Rescue Base
    #76157 Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah
and a few Dots Series 3 bags

I only checked one store but don't expect there will be much else I want in the others to pick from.  Two of them have most sets in locked cases so not easy to check prices. They had most of the Vidiyo stuff marked down but as @CaptainRogers said I too will  wait for a bigger markdown on those.  There was some other sets marked down too but I already got the Minions ones I wanted and wasn't interested in much of the others or else I want to see if they make another round of markdowns before I buy.

Wow. The lowest I see is one rural store 50 minutes away at limited stock and $12. A lot of Walmarts clearance the same sets around the same time, but every now and again one can get lucky with steep initial drop.
  • JRBricksJRBricks Member Posts: 58
6 bucks is a great deal, and yeah even though Walmarts tend to discount about the same amount around the same time, you do get lucky sometimes with steep drops.

Also August is approaching and this month, and January, is when you tend to see the biggest discounts as new sets come in, at least that’s been the case in my area. Sets that slip past the 20% + off can get up to 50-75% off if they last that long.

Unfortunately between Walmart's around me apparently purposefully buying less LEGO stock and the increasing number of AFOLs in the area means it is rare to find good deals for me lately, I almost have to stumble across them to find them. Especially when Covid hit and people were buying a lot of LEGO at retail last year.

I've seen the same thing. Your best bet is rural stores. I went on a road trip last October from NC to FL when there happened to be a wave of Walmart clearance. I checked a lot of store prices online and only stopped at stores that had 75% off or greater on clearance: the more out of the way the store, the more stock they had. Filled my trunk completely up: probably spent $400-$500 for 4x-5x that value on Lego. Greatest haul ever.

The Walmarts I've been in recently don't have any such signs. The scanners are gone, but the brackets for them are still on the pillars, and the wires for the signs still hang from the ceiling. But I've seen nothing about using the app.

Now that I think about it, I believe I saw that sign in the Lego aisle of the Burnsville store, but it was turned around so the printing faced the post. Seems odd, unless telling people to use the app was actually upsetting them somehow.

I stopped by my Walmart last night and there were a bunch of sets on sale/clearance. Quite a bit that was unmarked. 40% off was the best I saw on anything, but quite a bit at 20% off. Picked up some stuff mostly for gifts.

The only sets I would want to get (and would need to be at least 30%) would be the 31109 Creator pirate ship set and the 76125 Hall of Armor set.. Unfortunately the Pirate set has not be clearance'd so far around me and the Hall of Armor set is already sold out everywhere.

I've noticed with Brickseek....at least around me....with the helmets, it just shows stores "out of stock" and stores WITH stock aren't listed....yet there's plenty on the shelves in nearby stores.   And when it says "out of stock" (say $45)...I find it in a store and it's full price.

On the topic of scanners, the last time I went to walmart a week ago they still had the physical store scanners. The app when used to scan items to check prices would not show the clearance price, it would show the online price which would differ from what the in-store price scanner would show. The app update seems to have made finding clearance prices more difficult too; in the app the vidiyo beatboxes show as $15 but were actually $10 in store.

I haven’t tested this recently, but the app always used to default to online price. You had to select in-store to see the store price (and have the correct store selected).
