    Should be 8AM Pacific, 10AM CST, and 11AM EST… which is 5PM (17:00) CET

    Nobody ever wants to post in Mountain Time ;_;
My fingers just got tired!  Also, we go to Colorado several times a year, so my mind already adjusts for Mountain Time…🙂

Also, prices have leaked a bit early according to Stonewars (at least in Euros)…

Here's the link to the sale.  Oddly, it's been removed from the home page for the last 12 hours.
As I recall from last time, we give BrickLink our payment info, one order for any number of different sets, and they charge us a few months later when they're ready to ship.  It worked so well last time, no rush, no server issues.  Let's hope this is even close to that.
The Safe is so clever that I want it even though I don't need it.  The Boat is nice even with the less interesting, new color scheme.  The Castle, of course, I will be ordering.

    Or daylight time apparently.
Hmm… good point. I messed up my original question. I should have asked about EDT, not EST. I also never knew how to correctly refer to daylight savings time in Europe until just now. It’s officially Central European Summer Time, abbreviated CEST!

Those prices look good. (For the US at least)

If we have the normal 1:1 price translations, the prices seem pretty fair. Yes, it's all unlicensed, but production is going to be so different from normal. 150 euros for the castle isn't bad for ~2k pieces, for example.

50 euros for pursuit of flight is a little more than I might have _hoped_ for, but I think the model supports that so it's still on my order list.

The great fishing boat must be a little bigger than I was thinking. 110 euros? And I just looked at the piece count... ~1600 pieces and 20" long... ok, yeah, that's a good size model! I don't know why, but I was thinking more like 10-12" long. Big difference. I might rethink that one. I still really like the model, so maybe I'll throw in for it and see what happens with support!

The safe at 45 euros is a good price. I really like that one, I just don't know that it's my thing. It would be a fun place to store a USB drive or similar small item. Obviously it's not really secure, but it would add a fun sense of mystery and intrigue around the contents of the drive, especially in a household with kids.

Yeah, I'll pay $53 for the safe.  The fact that it works is amazing.  It's one of the most inventive, Ideas-worthy sets in the whole program.
It's going to be an expensive day...

Something to consider is that these are the prices for Germany. The sets are being put together and shipped from Europe (at least that’s what they said they were going to do initially) so they could be more expensive for the US. We also will have shipping to think about.  If there is a direct correlation between the price in euros and the price in dollars that would be amazing, but I’m not holding my breath.

Excellent news!  I hadn’t hoped for them to be that low…They are a bit higher than the price in euros but not too unreasonable

As Il_Buono, designer of the Sheriff's Safe, said, "Whoaaa, hold your horses ...".  They're doing a great job staying in character while interacting with the community.

Choosing which sets would be in each round could be some tricky game theory.  Include a variety of prices and quality to try and give a fair chance to all.  Yet, the Observatory moving to a future round throws that off, giving Round 1 another set to be produced and maybe out-competing one from a future round.
I really hope they surprise us with a Round 4 of all the sets which didn't get funded in earlier rounds.  If the other rounds close out too quickly, not giving a chance to the bottom three, this could be fair.

The prices are better than I'd feared.

Anyway, back to clicking REFRESH like a loon.

Looks like changing the phone number I used for Paypal in the last few months has completely ruined my chance of getting any from this round, at least. Too busy to contact them or try setting up a new account. Ah well.

Seriously though, can't Lego use Cloudflare, Cachefly or some other CDN to deliver this content during usage spikes?  How have they not found a solution to this.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
Even when the page loads, it's not clear how someone is supposed to actually order anything. That's fun. Why is their web IT department so terrible?
  • TheFewTheFew Member Posts: 1,781
    Yay. Got a castle!

As completely expected, the Castle is already out in the lead in pre-orders. The price point is very reasonable, as I mostly expected.

(I too got a gateway error on first load attempt.)

Just went for the safe, quite reasonable price. Not sure if it will make the top 5. It says free shipping but when I went to pay on Lego, it charged for shipping. Hopefully it gets refunded or they only take the amount for the set *shrugs*

    I still can't order.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
Seriously? How do I actually place an order? I don't see any links on the pages for the models themselves or anything obvious on the link for "get more information"
  • bricktuarybricktuary Member Posts: 987
I think I got what I wanted (Kakapo + Castle).

    AWESOME! THANK YOU!!

I think I was able to get in a pre-order for Castle and Flight at least. Still waffling a little on the ship and maybe the safe. I might just wait on those and see what happens with the orders (yes, it's a gamble that they'll sell out but I don't think I'll be super upset if they do).
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,425
How can you tell how many have been pre-ordered?

I went back in for the boat, £100 seems pretty reasonable. Expensive day!

How can you tell how many have been pre-ordered?
    https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/introducing.page

That page seems to be updated with a crude bar for each set that is filling toward "fully funded" and "max pre-order".

Castle is blasting way ahead of the others right now. It will easily make 3k and probably 5k I'll bet by the weekend at the absolute latest. Likely today if I had to bet on it.

Great Fishing Boat is currently in 2nd with a ways to go to get to 3k.

EDIT: Refreshed just now. Castle is fully funded. ORDER NOW IF YOU WANT IT! It will be sold out very shortly.

The castle is almost gone- at least it has a “funded” banner on it— 4000 of 5000

How can you tell how many have been pre-ordered?
For a few minutes it had a red bar showing the progress of funding for each project. That seems to be gone now though.

edit: looks like the progress meter is back

  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
I understand why they didn't green light an Ideas castle set with the 3-in-1 already in development, but they definitely should have good evidence at this point that there's demand for castle and pirates sets. I wish they would do some smaller sets in those themes as well, especially if they have "rivals" for the pirates and Black Falcons.

I went for the Castle and the safe. I got an extra Castle for my son who is a huge fan.  I also supported the particle accelerator but it doesn’t look like it’s going to get funded. The Kakapo and the Bionicle set look like they are neck and neck…

The castle is showing as "This project is sold out in your region." for Ireland. Think it might be popular in Europe. Asia and North America, it's still showing as available for now.
