For those not following, who have forgotten, or don't care...a recap: We moved into a house that has a nice big basement with space dedicated to Lego...so all those modular buildings that I've been buying for nearly 14 years will finally have a home. (As well as my old 1980s stuff, some mid-90s stuff between my two dark ages, and stuff from the last 14 years.) Some of these sets are still new in the box, but others (Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Town Hall, Palace Cinema, and Parisian Restaurant) were built at least once previously. It's interesting to see the change in design and building techniques along the way. I have a toddler and very little free time, so building tends to go slowly. I think I'm averaging about one a month...although I'm building some other stuff (both old and new) in between.
Of all that I've been building or re-building, Fire Brigade was the most frustrating with the dark red tiles that snap in half due to age. As mentioned in an earlier post, some Pet Shop's brown bricks had some cracks and issues as well...but fortunately no complete snaps in two. Grand Emporium had one dark red 1x1 tile that snapped in 2 that I'll need to replace and I'll place an order when I need more than just the 1 brick. I feared some of Town Hall might have cracked, but that went together without any issue...so maybe I'm past the era of problematic brick colors.
Palace Cinema is next and it's not one I've been looking forward to. Partially because I've already built it once, but probably mainly because I found the theater to be lacking. Not a fan of the movie screen, seating, and the general design of the upstairs interior.
However, I'm aware I'm coming up on #10243 Parisian Restaurant. I'm aware that's one of the most popular modulars and was one of the longest available ones, but I'm really not a fan. Never have been. Not sure why. Maybe the side staircase, roof design, or the short size... This is my least favorite (other than #10190 Market Street which was SO unappealing to me that I never bought it and have zero regrets on that!)
After that, everything will be new to me and hasn't been opened or assembled yet. I still need to get #10264 Corner Garage and #10278 Police Station at some point. I've got #80107 Spring Lantern Festival (although not an official modular set) on backorder to help balance out the baseplate-and-a-half taken by Assembly Square.
Looks like you are on a great building spree, enjoy!
Myself - the finished product of the two halves of #10295:
Again, great build - shame TLG don't as standard provide the only 9 extra bricks you need to put together this version.
As a plus, my surname is literally Rabbit in Portuguese (Coelho), so all of these fit perfectly here.
Yes I do, I like it so much (and so does my youngest daughter) that it stayed there for display and occasional play.
The only thing I don't like about that set is the amount of small builds, like the gifts, that have no place to sit on the set itself.
My pair of reindeer arrived from BnP this morning, so I popped them into their own wagon.
Just posted a big city update, hope you like it!
Enjoy....one of my favourite recent builds! My son already asked if we can buy another for his room and if we can get all the body panels in black so that his would "look the coolest in the house" :)
It's gone straight on display for however long I have remaining before we move!
Anyway, here is the completed MOC:
Overall, it's a pretty good approximation, although understandably scaled down somewhat, of an End City Tower, complete with Chorus Plants and some excellent Shulker Boxes, which use the Plate 1 x 1 with 2 Blue and 2 White Squares Pattern (Minecraft Steve Eyes) from #21102 Minecraft Micro World: The Forest to great effect.
The crenellations are cleverly build using SNOT and the End Stone Bricks and Purpur Blocks are well represented, as are the End Rods. I'm really happy with the end result, so many thanks, Veyniac, for another great Minecraft MOC! :-)
