Maintaining status as an apolitical AFOL is the better choice.
Definitely not responsible for any of that silly business. Especially the Black VIP card. That was all the Marketing/Promotions Department.
Those all look so good together!
1997 I was starting my senior year of high school and taking college classes, I bought very little LEGO in those years until 1999 and Star Wars. Then throughout much of the 00s was my quasi-dark ages where most of the LEGO bought was for my son, not myself (and therefore not in my inventory) - and even those years where I do have something in my inventory, it's often just a single set (I have a grand total of 5 sets in my inventory from 2001-2009). My numbers don't really start picking up until 2012 and forward. My 90s and 80s numbers are also a bit underrepresented because I only include sets in my inventory that I've completely verified as being complete and that I have either assembled or bagged up as a set.
Now, the really odd thing is that, while they look snapped, some just crumbled into little pieces. I also noticed that my other half's electric scent diffuser seemed to have leaked fluid onto the Lego, perhaps when someone moved it. The Lego stank of it. I quickly checked the rest of the set and disassembled anything that looked suspect and dumped the lot into some soapy water for a good wash.
Anyway, this is what some of the bricks looked like:
Thankfully, I've been able to source parts from BL pretty easily, but my poor daughter was in tears when she saw what had happened, as it's her favourite set at the moment. I am hoping we don't find any more breakages!
Other that that, I've added the Light Bluish Grey Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Flower Edge (5 Petals) to my collection (see the "Collecting certain parts only" thread in "Collecting") and am also gathering the parts for another @BenBuildsLego skyline MOC. Not for me this time though! My daughters have so enjoyed the SW: OT and LotR / TH ones that I have built, that they asked me to help them with his Disney Beauty and The Beast skyline, so that's been my latest BL splurge (plus replacements for the above calamity!). Pics to follow soon-ish. :-)
The rest of the set does look okay, so fingers crossed!
You got a begrudging "like" though. They do look nicely done. :-)
Both are better than Captain & Tennille.
(Think TV/computer screens rather than paint!)
I am now bagging up a few sets to clear some space for new builds, as my backlog is getting silly:
#21170-1 The Pig House
#21326-1 Winnie the Pooh
#40450-1 Amelia Earhart Tribute
#71741-1 NINJAGO City Gardens
#10270-1 Bookshop
#21161-1 The Crafting Box 3.0
#40416-1 Ice Skating Rink
#70657-1 NINJAGO City Docks
#10258-1 London Bus
#70620-1 NINJAGO City
#9476-1 The Orc Forge
My priority is to clear enough space on my Lego tables to be able to build #10270 Bookshop and add it to my mini City. To do that, sadly #21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay is going to have to be dismantled next. It's just too big and taking up too much space. I am fully planning to rebuild it as soon as I can, once I have done a lot more organising.
Edit - image won't upload or embed... so: https://flic.kr/p/2kTJNTR
The photo would finally upload for me now.
This display of classic Pirates just continues to give me such absolute joy.
You could post Classic Pirate pics all day and I would still keep liking them 😀
Well, OK...
