Doing a brick-built viking hat would be unmanageable and hurt my neck.  Besides, giving any attention to a fringe bunch of lunatics - even if in ironic ridicule can have a negative overall effect.

Maintaining status as an apolitical AFOL is the better choice.

Ithink we need to workshop that name.  Four syllables is a bit wordy.

We... er... they just rig the Ideas selections, who gets Bat-Pods and VIP coins, and manage the hoard of Darth Revan polys, the list of registered Mr. Golds and what pieces will never appear on the PaB wall...

Definitely not responsible for any of that silly business.  Especially the Black VIP card.  That was all the Marketing/Promotions Department.

So the parts came to finish building #1580 Lunar Scout...
I have that awesome little set as well, though I do need to get a new light gray hose for it.

Those all look so good together!

Looking at my sets on the main site and I saw I have at least one set from every year since 1985 except one: 2004. So I looked at the sets from that year to see why. Wow what an awful year for Lego sets. Yikes. Anyone else have a odd blank spot?

With this addition I have all but one of the trans-green windshield space sets... I’m still missing #1968 , which is rare, has no official set name, and is just too expensive to justify...

    I don't see #6861 or #6901... :)

I have a number brakes in my collection inventory from 1985 onward (I do have a just a few sets from earlier than 85) - 1997, 2004, and 2006-8. I think that's actually a pretty telling data set.

1997 I was starting my senior year of high school and taking college classes, I bought very little LEGO in those years until 1999 and Star Wars. Then throughout much of the 00s was my quasi-dark ages where most of the LEGO bought was for my son, not myself (and therefore not in my inventory) - and even those years where I do have something in my inventory, it's often just a single set (I have a grand total of 5 sets in my inventory from 2001-2009). My numbers don't really start picking up until 2012 and forward. My 90s and 80s numbers are also a bit underrepresented because I only include sets in my inventory that I've completely verified as being complete and that I have either assembled or bagged up as a set.

I pulled mine up and I have sets from every year from 1978-present except for 2003-2007...that  covers my dark age until my kids were old enough to get me back into Lego...

I've got a couple of gaps 1989, 1991-1996, 2000-2004. Apart from that I have sets from 1976 to the present day. Got into D&D and other RPGs in the early 90s, then met me now wife shortly after. Early 2000s I was buying old cars! Might go back and try and fill the gaps, but you're right, 2004 is dire

I have no gaps from 1974. But the only set I bought between January 1989 and June 1990 was #6077 Forestmen's River Fortress, bought the first week of Jan 1989, when the U.S. Army sent me to South Korea. Don't worry, I took it with me, along with a 3-gallon canister (which had contained popcorn) full of LEGO. Once I got home I started filling in the gap- especially Pirates, which were pictured in the catalog in #6077. That was a long year and a half in several ways!

Any UK folks who have girls aged 7 - 12 and they do that thing in the supermarket that goes "pleeeeease can I have a magazine?"....well Girl Talk has a free Vidiyo figure. Plus a load of other freebies. I compromised on buying it (cos I only just bought Jacqueline Wilson magazine like 2 days ago) on the condition I got the Lego. I also got to eat the chewy sweet cos my 12 year old didn't like it !!

I stopped at Target after work and picked up #71746 Jungle Dragon and two CMF 21- Shipwreck Survivor and Pug Costume Guy, but not opened yet so like Schrodinger's cat. So the extra overtime pay is spent a week before I'll get it.😁

I am taking some time today to set up an Instagram account to show off my creations. We will see how it goes, social media platforms have been very hit or miss for me lately. Nothing I put on Flickr or Facebook gets any attention, but if I post the same thing on Reddit it almost always gets showered with upvotes, comments, and awards. Go figure.

Don't worry, @benbacardi, I build for two reasons: 1) for fun, and 2) so that other people can have fun building my creations. Likes, comments, and (rarely) money are just side benefits :)

@samiam391 Thanks so much for the offer! My username is @veyniac540. However, I only have one picture up so far, and I don't want to post all my stuff in one go. I am planning on posting once or twice a day for the next while, so if you could wait about a week before giving the shout-out that would be great :)

Trying to figure out how I'd best add base scenery to a (currently) 4x6 layout. Baseplates? I thought I heard LEGO was moving away from the thin classic ones...Would I want to start with green, maybe 16x16s, like in the Classic box last year? No theme yet, just want to get trains, from the Super Chief, Emerald Night, and beyond running, get the Disney Castle, train station up. Thanks, everybody!

I don't want to press like a story like that but that's awful. Hopefully the whole model is not ruined and it can be salvaged.
I haven't bought Lego in about 3 weeks so the late April releases can't come soon enough.

Thanks, yes, I'm just awaiting a final couple of BL orders which contain the remaining pieces, so all should end well, I hope. Only time will tell whether any further pieces have been damaged, but I'll just replace them as well, as required.
The rest of the set does look okay, so fingers crossed!

I'm not sure if Dremel and Sandpaper is better or worse than Kragle...

Both are better than Captain & Tennille.

I’ve always liked the “brick minifigs”, and have been waiting for more colors to be released...

Whe the first two came out I thought the next one would be Yellow, based on the traditional primary colour wheel, and then they could infill with the combined/opposites of purple, green and orange, and so on... When green brick guy turned up I found out there’s another colour wheel of RBG, so I guess now they need to mix/infill with purple, aquamarine and whatever green/red makes. At some point I presume they all just blend into some sludge brown mix.

I believe the RGB wheel (instead of RYB) is additive instead of subtractive (or something,) so they'd all end up white rather than a brown sludge!

(Think TV/computer screens rather than paint!)

Havn't done much Lego lately due to work and life just being very busy but I did manage to go to the Leicester Square store yesterday. If you spent £150 you got 4 freebies, so decided to pick up the Medevil Blacksmith, which should be a fun build.

On a wimp I thought i'd try JL on Oxford street to see if they still had any of the old roadplates and tucked away in the corner they had a few left so snapped them up.

One of my daughters and I spent a couple of hours sorting and tidying up their Lego table, so that they could calm their mother down and move all their recent sets back off the living room floor and into their playroom. Other daughter, who loves building and playing with Lego, turned up for 5 minutes, whinged for another 5 minutes about sorting being boring and left us to it. Grrrr. ;-)

I am now bagging up a few sets to clear some space for new builds, as my backlog is getting silly:

    #10283-1 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery
    #21170-1 The Pig House
    #21326-1 Winnie the Pooh
    #40450-1 Amelia Earhart Tribute
    #71741-1 NINJAGO City Gardens
    #10270-1 Bookshop
    #21161-1 The Crafting Box 3.0
    #40416-1 Ice Skating Rink
    #70657-1 NINJAGO City Docks
    #10258-1 London Bus
    #70620-1 NINJAGO City
    #9476-1 The Orc Forge

My priority is to clear enough space on my Lego tables to be able to build #10270 Bookshop and add it to my mini City. To do that, sadly #21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay is going to have to be dismantled next. It's just too big and taking up too much space. I am fully planning to rebuild it as soon as I can, once I have done a lot more organising.
I am probably also going to have to dismantle #21318 Tree House, #75288 AT-AT, #75243 Slave I - 20th Anniversary Edition and #75259 Snowspeeder – 20th Anniversary Edition, plus a few small random sets as well.

Sadly, there wasn't much more in this particular lot. However, I have bought several lots from the same person previously, and between all of them I think I now have about 50% of the minifigure parts from the set. I have all of the masks, plus one extra white one, and most of the torsos, legs, chestplates, and conical helmets. Sadly, I am missing most of the shields and weapons, almost all of the classic smiley heads, and every single one of the elusive light grey Classic Space helmets.

I think, maybe my question got buried, will try again. I'm trying to restart a layout, now that we've moved. Is it silly to use a bunch of the LEGO Classic baseplates, if the internet says they may be retiring next February? Green 8x16s are kind of expensive... (Trying to build LEGO scenery for my layout.
