I can confirm the Space Coin was available for certain around midnight, without any April Fools claims or Photoshopping! Mine didn’t have the EMEAJ suffix but it appeared all the same. Like I mentioned before, after you’ve claimed something like the coins, you’re unable to check whether it’s out of stock, so I don’t have a clue whether other people’s claims are true or not regarding stock levels or availability unfortunately.

The colouring sheets have no product names on the UK VIP amusingly.

For some reason I can still see the Octan coin in my VIP section, but it says "Sold out". No sign of Pirates (that I redeemed), Castle or Space.
  • The_RancorThe_Rancor Member Posts: 2,626
^ I can’t see the Pirates or Castle Coins anymore, whilst the Octan and Space ones both displayed but just said ‘redeemed’ - last time I checked.

There was no sign of the Space coin on my VIP Rewards page at midnight, and there still isn't now.

I am so glad I didn't bother trying to collect the coins.

To those in the US who've gotten and framed some of the LEGO prints, what's your best cheap framing option you've found? The prints seem to be kind of an odd size for us.

    @KungFuKenny
I’ve found that the 10x13 frame at Hobby Lobby works well even though that isn’t the exact size of the prints - they have 50% off sales every other week which makes them about $8.99...

Classic Space Coin is still available, but no probe yet (as expected)..

Hadn't planned on getting any of the coins, but now I'm hooked. :)  I figure I'll cash in the code for the space coin in a month or so when the May 4th deals come around (assuming there is anything left to buy then!)

Something I just learned tonight... which has saddened me regarding the 5 other items I purchased last year but never bothered to redeem thinking I would save them for some other time...

Just had a quick chat with customer services who initially told me the coin was out of stock. Had a call back from them about 5 minutes later and they are saying that the coin is yet to go live and will do sometime today. Customer services great as always, website less said the better.....

If the point is to provide rewards for brand loyalty, in exchange for devalued coupons for items worth below the cash-in price for a credit voucher... these items should be perpetually available...
I’m starting to feel like these limited edition VIP redemptions are sometimes less about rewarding loyalty and more about building anticipation and “buzz” for the Lego brand... hopefully that isn’t overshadowed by the frustration fans are feeling when they miss out on Pooh print or a Space coin...

We shouldn't be surprised at this point should we but I can't help felling this was Legos worse one yet. Get people to collect coins they don't want or need and then on coin 4 have it available for a few people but most get a random half hour window that they have no idea what time it will go live. Anyone that has the other 3 coins but missed out on this one should contact Lego are ask for their points back.

Thanks to @brickedin posting here I looked and got it and it even left me feeling upset at Lego so can't image how I would have felt if I missed it. Didn't care too much about the coins but when you have the frame and 3 others already you are kind of in aren't you. Not looking forward to the 5th one now.

Space coin is sold out in the US... I must say I am proud of myself for not going down the coin rabbit hole, even though I am a Classic Space fan.  I had to keep reminding myself that I collect Lego, not coins... now what will I do next month when Lego announces a limited edition VIP Lego stamp collection? 🙂

I don’t have the collectors frame for the coins but I hesitated when I heard about the single coins having their own cases and it didn’t feel essential fortunately, having also missed out anyway.

However I do have all the other coins either right now or in the pipeline as a redemption for a future order and it now feels like I have 1.) been very lucky and 2.) given myself the regular worry of checking the VIP site particularly near the end of the month to get rewards before they sell out.

I do check TLG’s VIP rewards page excessively, and that is no understatement. Possibly triggered by the original Bat Pod furore. It does help acquire some things before they sell out, but not always and it’s probably an unhealthy obsession to have!*

    * Side note - I also kept obsessively refreshing GAME.co.uk’s website last year just after their big global reveal stream. I was one of the lucky few that chanced on the fact that PS5s has suddenly been made available for a 30 minute period just before midnight and got my order in. Hopefully living like this just to make orders for things I really want before they go out of stock (Lego or not) won’t be a permanent habit going forward.

I haven't checked the VIP site this year, and probably won't unless I have an itch to get a purchase voucher.  The only VIP benefit I care about is early access to sets, and that's sometimes useless because even with limited VIP only release, they still sell out online within minutes it seems.  Thankfully I found a Winnie the Pooh set at the Northpark store this past Sunday.

Totally agree.  I was done when the display case was gone in under 5 minutes.

Silliness.  Definitely learned my lesson by paying attention to how the Black VIP card was completely botched.

The worst of it is @SumoLego, I had the opportunity of redeeming all of them but today's, but couldn't be arsed.

When I saw the first coin and 5-way holder, I thought, "What the f**k do I want with that?" and walked on.  Had no idea or cared about the rarity of them, or what would become.

I feel exactly the same. I only really wanted/got this one and the Pirates one. I wouldn't have lost too much sleep if I'd have missed out, but it does just seem like a giant pain in the ass for a lot of people. Plus I would be seriously pissed if I'd got the first three and frame, but missed this one.

I hope this debacle isn't foreshadowing some future promo for a truly desirable set that everyone wants. The seven minute window isn't even the worst part as I guess you could argue that those willing to do the research and being organised enough to set their alarms etc would be successful (as I was getting a PS5 on day one after knowing the day and time they would go on sales months in advance). The worst part is the fact that some people had access to it while most didn't, and also that they became available at a totally random, unpredictable time.

@Brainslugged, my finger has been so far from the button recently, but even I thought I knew what what was going on.  I was refreshing every couple of minutes and never did it appear on my screen until it was sold out.  "IT issues", they said.

This has led me to believe it is down to pot luck and not worth the effort of educating myself or losing sleep over.

Yet another stunt by LEGO's crack marketing team.

I get it, you guys decoded the minds of the Collector...the type of personality that lives for the chase, that feel compelled to acquire the whole set, the type that lines up at the Apple Store 3 days in advance of a new phone model, etc...  I'm not knocking the Collector necessarily, but rather frowning upon the froth and frenzy these scarce collectibles create.

I never regarded my fellow LEGO enthusiasts as crazed 'Beanie Baby' people.  And for the most part, they AREN'T...but dang, it seems like LEGO almost wants this type of furious clamoring.  It reeks of exploitation...now for a cheap pot metal shiny object.

Well, LEGO, I love ya...truly.  But you can take yer coins, put 'em in your hat, poop in your hat, then pull it down tight.  EFF YOU.

    ^^HA!

They sold out of...sales.  Control and manipulation is all this could be.  They're growing tired of loyalty, I guess.
  • PDelahantyPDelahanty Member Posts: 308
HA HA!  Looks like you'll have to settle for 2 $20 and 2 $5 instead.

Seriously though, there's some bad coding happening behind the scenes on Lego's site.  My guess is that marketing makes decisions that these poor coders then have a limited amount of time to implement and that rush results in mistakes
In this case, they likely adapted some system for selling physical goods to sell these digital rewards and put in some crazy limit like "999999".  ...and then someone finally hit that limit.

I've not used the VIP scheme since it changed over from the 'plastic card in your wallet' to this new-fangled system.  I've discovered I've got 12,000 points banked, and so I've like to use them on the Ninjago City Gardens.  Looks like I can get £75 off, as long as you can combine multiple vouchers on a single order.

I can't see anything that suggests you can't, but just wanted to confirm it before I go and redeem a bunch of points.  You can do multiple vouchers on one order, right?

    Ta!
  • CymbelineCymbeline Member Posts: 580
Yes it's possible to use more than one voucher per order and I've done it several times.

Just a quick note to say that money off vouchers have to be entered on the payment page when you get to the payment method, not in the promo code box in your basket. Found that out after a rather embarrassing ten minutes of profanities aimed at S@H for how useless they are only to find out of was actually me.
