I started building my Christmas gift of #75291 Death Star Final Duel, which I'm enjoying.

I've also just kicked off building another one of @BenBuildsLego's Skylines, this time a Star Wars one: A New Hope.

I'm just waiting for a BL order for the last remaining parts to arrive, so that I can continue.

The first 8 sets of bags from the Falcon are finished. 10 hours, 4 minutes so far.

I know an $800 Lego set is expensive but this has my wholehearted recommendation.

You're making pretty good time! IIRC several of the later bag sets go much quicker. I feel like Set 1 was the slowest--so much technic!!

Thanks! Just finished bag group 12. 13 hours, 48 minutes so far. 5 bag groups left to go. My initial guesstimate was 18-20 hours, so I'm well on pace. And for whatever reason Bag 3 took way longer than it should have - I guess it was getting late and I was losing steam that night.

It's not a race you know.... Take your time and enjoy.
Mine was done in 36 hours and let me tell you, you dont want to find a mistake when you are on bag set 16.

Oh, it's not. I just tend to build on the fast side.  Taj Mahal took me 8.5 hours so I was curious how long this would take.

When I worked at Lego we got asked all the time how long the Falcon would take to build. I think average build speed is around 400 parts per hour. I've always built quickly if it's not a MOC. Don't think for one moment though that I'm not taking my time to enjoy this build.  If there's a word I could use to describe the build process for this set, it would probably be "succulent".  Which, admittedly, probably won't make any sense to anyone who hasn't built it.

I always forget when I haven't seen them for awhile just how great the Ninjago City/Ninjago City Docks are.  Makes me even more excited for the Ninjago City Gardens release coming up, because it looks like it will be another amazing addition to Ninjago City.

Yeah, I am really keen to see what the gardens fully look like and how they fit with the city and docks

First off, I need to retract my previous comment about the roof overhanging the edge of the set. It only overhangs if you build it wrong. The frog should face into the set and the pig balloon be on the right. doh.

Secondly, I found a light brick I had ordered on B&P and forgotten about.

So after a bit of tinkering, the chicken/turkey/goose can now be cooked!
It is a small modification, but I am pleased with the integration.

Well, I haven't actually built it yet, but the other day I was looking at the hammerhead shark from #60263 and thought, "Ooh, I should modify #70656 into a hammerhead shark! That would be awesome!" Then I realized a lot of my sand blue parts are already in #70656 and the other Shark Army sets. I'm going to be raiding a lot of sets to get enough sand blue!

That’s a great idea but Garmadon is not an easy set to come by!
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,262
I bought it a week or two after release. It's been built since New Year's 2017/2018.

Just completed @BenBuildsLego's Star Wars: A New Hope skyline:

I did make one small change and added a 2x2 Black tile to the underside of the column holding the Death Star up, as it was prone to falling over. It's still a little unsteady, but much better than before:

I'm starting to gather the parts for the SW:TESB skyline, but it needs 4 of the following, of which there seem to be only 2 used ones available, globally, which doesn't seem right:

    White Slope, Curved 4 x 2 x 2 Triple

Does anyone have any bright ideas about sourcing these parts?

I realise that I don't think I posted any pics of the previous skyline that I built, based on The Hobbit, so here they are:

I absolutely loved putting this one together, as there were so many little details included in the scenes. Great work @BenBuildsLego!

Edited to add: I really must stop being so lazy and get out my lightbox to take pics with. Apologies for the shabbiness of the pics!

That piece was only in 3 sets in the 90’s and is rare- none on eBay here in the US.  I would use 4 of the piece below and a 2x2 brick...

Edit: looks like that was also the suggestion on the Rebrickable comments...

@lkliment2 Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't, but will have a quick look, just in case. If it's not on BL, I think it unlikely.

@KungFuKenny If the above doesn't work out, that sounds like an excellent suggestion. I can easily do that instead.

I'll have a quick look on Brickowl as well. You never know.

Just finished building the HP Astronomy Tower.  Was a fun build but I'm seriously considering replacing the obnoxious 4 wide White Door frames with the color that matches the bulk of the building.  Too bad the 6 wide frames only come in White.

I'm about to start my Astronomy Tower! I agree about the door frames. But do I dare take the two tan ones from #10228 Haunted House?

I assumed it was unlikely as well – I’ve had luck sometimes with rare-r parts on BL showing up on eBay, but not often

I just built the Astronomy Tower and I did eliminate all the white door frames and some of the tan ones as well. It looks so much better in my opinion. It can easily be altered so that you don't need door frames for support.

These are so fun looking! I really want to get around to building all six of the Middle-earth skylines one of these days. First instructions, then part sourcing...

My Secret Santa got me one of the 6 wide SC sets I missed and wanted.....so did my wife! So one was built as the Chevy NASCAR and the other using some instructions from Rebrickable. I also remade my duplicate 720S from the other year.

T-Rex Rampage really is an impressive set, my only gripe other than Gennaro is how much of a bear it was to teardown to pack back into the box for storage.

#75301 Luke Skywalker's X-Wing Fighter. No pictures just yet because I don't feel like clearing out my photo studio (aka my kitchen counter), but I like it. The nosecone is weird, and I have a couple other minor quibbles, but overall it's a great X-Wing for $50. If I may... "This is the way."

I've just finished putting all my modulars together on one shelf I emptied out just for them. I have the BookStore/Townhouse, Parisian Restaurant, Assembly Square, Police Station, and the Corner Garage. My question is, do the new Road Plates work as a one lane street?

That is a awesome display! I love the comic with the matching minifigures to the characters. I never was a huge pirates fan until recently I started getting some, this just makes me wonder how much more I should try to get.. Im already spread out over to many themes chris why do you post this!

Barracuda Bay is setup on the other new Kallax unit in this room (in the photo I posted yesterday in the What are you Buying Now thread you can see it next to the Batmobile). I want to get it on a shelf up above the comic eventually I think, but I'm just not sure if that will work due to the line of sight to my TV and other space constraints there. So for now, opposite side of the room it is. Up until this last weekend I just had that set sitting on my coffee table, so it's nice to actually have it up in a more proper display state now.

The Spring Lantern Festival set I ordered finally arrived, started this evening and manage to do 4 bags. The building of the pond base messes with your head as there are lots of angled pieces in various orientations. They really did a great job on the pond.

Still waiting on mine (ordered back on January 10, just now today showing "In Warehouse") but I will note this for when it does eventually get here. Thanks for the heads up on this as my dyslexia messes with orientation all the time!

That's quick - ordered mine 1/1 and still "Backordered". To be fair, S@H indicated it would only be send out end of February at ordering...

All the talk about the new Blacksmith set reminded me that I had a copy of #6074 Black Falcon’s Fortress (bought last spring from a Canadian BL store) that I had forgotten about...
This castle has all the nostalgia for me! Looking back at it later in life I see just how bare-bones it actually is, but I still love the thing.

No telling how long it will sit as "In Warehouse" though! Our shipments would probably be coming from different sources though as you are in Europe and I am in the US. I have gotten to where I simply enjoy it when it gets here although so far an email that it has shipped has been a good sign!
