I've also just kicked off building another one of @BenBuildsLego's Skylines, this time a Star Wars one: A New Hope.
I'm just waiting for a BL order for the last remaining parts to arrive, so that I can continue.
I know an $800 Lego set is expensive but this has my wholehearted recommendation.
Mine was done in 36 hours and let me tell you, you dont want to find a mistake when you are on bag set 16.
When I worked at Lego we got asked all the time how long the Falcon would take to build. I think average build speed is around 400 parts per hour. I've always built quickly if it's not a MOC. Don't think for one moment though that I'm not taking my time to enjoy this build. If there's a word I could use to describe the build process for this set, it would probably be "succulent". Which, admittedly, probably won't make any sense to anyone who hasn't built it.
Secondly, I found a light brick I had ordered on B&P and forgotten about.
So after a bit of tinkering, the chicken/turkey/goose can now be cooked!
It is a small modification, but I am pleased with the integration.
I did make one small change and added a 2x2 Black tile to the underside of the column holding the Death Star up, as it was prone to falling over. It's still a little unsteady, but much better than before:
I'm starting to gather the parts for the SW:TESB skyline, but it needs 4 of the following, of which there seem to be only 2 used ones available, globally, which doesn't seem right:
White Slope, Curved 4 x 2 x 2 Triple
Does anyone have any bright ideas about sourcing these parts?
I absolutely loved putting this one together, as there were so many little details included in the scenes. Great work @BenBuildsLego!
Edited to add: I really must stop being so lazy and get out my lightbox to take pics with. Apologies for the shabbiness of the pics!
@KungFuKenny If the above doesn't work out, that sounds like an excellent suggestion. I can easily do that instead.
I'll have a quick look on Brickowl as well. You never know.
Not a big HP fan but loved the styling of the Owl. Also preferred the wings spread out so to keep it there, I turned one of the handles used for the flight motion round so it rests up against the main support and it stays in place quite nicely.
I filled the back of the Clipper with barrels... That empty space has always bugged me, but I'm not 100% sold on the "full" look either.
I'll again apologize for the absolutely terrible lighting in my LEGO room.
Now let's see what gets further added to this collection this year.
Still waiting on mine (ordered back on January 10, just now today showing "In Warehouse") but I will note this for when it does eventually get here. Thanks for the heads up on this as my dyslexia messes with orientation all the time!
No telling how long it will sit as "In Warehouse" though! Our shipments would probably be coming from different sources though as you are in Europe and I am in the US. I have gotten to where I simply enjoy it when it gets here although so far an email that it has shipped has been a good sign!
