Agree with @Fizyx ... it is hit or miss - I pre-ordered the Child #75318 and included a physical VIP set which arrived even though it was sold out by the time the Child shipped (which means they physically had it set aside for a month or so?)... I also have done the backorder trick mentioned above (have one in-stock item in your order) and that seems to work well.

It is hit or miss.  I missed out on four of the Darth Revan (yes, got greedy) when the battle packs were backordered.  When I called about it, the CS agent said there is a fine print that says promos are for in stock items only.  Technically, it showed up in my order receipt so it should have been part of my purchase but so well.

With the VIP sets, they issue a voucher so they know about stock levels.

I've found ordering just one PAB part triggers sending the GWP separately from a back ordered set. I guess once part of an order is fulfilled, it triggers sending the GWP.

In that case they should not show it in an order confirmation. If a gift is removed from an order like that, I'd return the whole order due to missing items. If they send a confirmation you have ordered something, then they should check their rules before sending a confirmation not after a customer complains.

Were you able to get one?  With these former GWPs and Con releases I think you have to jump on them right when they go live on [email protected] (with the exception of the Wonder Woman set) to avoid missing out...

Doesn’t posting here imply he didn’t get one?

Unfortunately, no, I didn't. Saw it go up, was waiting for promos...

UGH. I like collecting the brickarms 24k gold weapons and I love star wars. Asked the seller to split up an auction so I could buy the dc-15s and sat down for dinner. Stayed off my phone for dinner and 45 minutes later I saw the seller responded almost right away and reposted the items and somebody else had bought the dc-15s. Second one I've seen in 6 years of looking. I'm so mad at myself right now.

Talking with @SumoLego last night made me remember how I passed on sets like #75156 and #75151 when they were on clearance for $60-70 towards the end of their shelf lives, and how I really regret it now. While I have Krennic’s Shuttle (wouldn’t mind a sealed one...) that Turbo Tank still eludes me...

Back in fall 2016, I was staying at Walt Disney World with my family and naturally, we made a few trips to the Lego Store during that time! During one of those trips, I found #70751 Temple of Airjitzu for half off there. I guess they overstocked that set or something, because I’m still shocked that such a prominent Lego Store would have such a huge deal on a D2C like that. The only reason I didn’t get it then was because I didn’t have any way of getting it home on the plane, and shipping would have cost an arm and a leg(o).

All’s well that ends well though, as I ended up getting it as a birthday gift a year later to commemorate the release of The Lego Ninjago Movie. So technically, I ended up paying 100% off at the end of the day. 😉

Well, two weeks ago I missed out on a lot of Architecture sets. Seller wanted $100 total for ten sets (Arch De Triomphe, Brandenburg Gate, Burj Khalifa (#21008), Empire State Building (#21002), Guggenheim, Sungnyemun, Sydney Opera House, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and The White House (#21006). For a brief moment, I thought it also included Fallingwater. I had a time set to meet them the following morning only to wake up and find that they sold to someone else. As I had intended to just resell the sets, it took me awhile to get over the feeling that I had just lost out on several hundred dollars in profit.

Then today, I saw a post for a bunch of modulars for $100 each that included Corner Garage, Bookstore, Grand Emporium, Brick Bank, Parisian, Pet Store, Detective's Office, Palace Cinema, Assembly Square, and the Old Fishing Store. They had another posting for Tower Bridge, Double Decker London Bus, Saturn Rocket, and the Disney Castle each for $125. I messaged only an hour or so after posting to find that all of them had sold already.

The Architecture miss was a bummer as it was going to allow me to check other Wanted items off my list. The other offers were a bummer because they were a few of the Wanted Items I was aiming for.

    You suck 2020.

I rarely see modulars posted around her much less for those prices.  I'd have to jump on at least a couple if I did.  That's a bummer.

Went through some old photos and figured it was appropriate to share with the gardens having been revealed. This was from when 2018 TRU was clearing out all of their inventory and closing their stores.

    $209 Ninjago City 30% off.

I decided to buy one and after realizing how cool of a build it was and how it might look cool to have 2 back to back especially at $209. A few days after, naive me went back to the store to see if they had any more. Naturally they had sold out.

I missed these two sets  from a local seller by just a few minutes. Open boxes but sealed bags.

I literally just read each and every one of the posts in this discussion as I had missed it while away.  We were a feisty bunch pre-Covid, lol.  I guess my biggest regret would be the AT-OT which did get discounted at one point.  I’ve moved on from not getting the UCS Imperial Shuttle and UCS Sandcrawler.  Kinda frustrated that I never even saw the Hidden Side castle.

Maybe not nearly as bad as the last few posts, but it's still bad to me.  ;)

I've wanted #40354 ever since it was announced but never had a compelling reason to jump on it (no good sales, didn't need it for promo fodder, etc.).  I was hoping it'd go on sale during Black Friday 2020 but #40436 did instead.  Soon after, I noticed that it went out of stock online and also at my local store.  I was in a little bit of a panic but then I saw that it come back around Christmas/New Year so relaxed a bit.  Again, I hoped for a good sale/promo to come along.  Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I decided to check my wishlist to see what I could put together for the Amelia promo and it looks like it's now gone for good!

Similar story to #30624 when it randomly showed up for purchase on [email protected] last year.  The page said that my local store had it in stock but when I went there, they hadn't seen it in ages and had no idea why it said they still had them.  Since there was nothing else I really wanted (inventory was abysmal due to the pandemic anyway) and I didn't feel like buying 9 of them to get free shipping from [email protected], I missed out on it when it sold out a few days later.  At least it wasn't something I ever thought I could purchase separately so it doesn't sting as bad as #40354 above, but still...

I'm sure there've been a few other sets with similar stories on why I missed out on them, but those two are the freshest in memory.

When I messaged the seller he said it was still available. I said I could pay right away, then when he finally messaged me back he said somebody was already on their way to pick it up.

Seems like the season for missed deals. Just saw someone post the Winter Village Cottage and Winter Village Santa's Workshop for $80 and only 10 minutes from my house. The seller got back to me right away and said someone just left with them. I was gutted.

I can’t decide which thread is more upsetting for me to read- this one or the brag thread where people find a Cafe Corner or Emerald Night on Facebook for $50...😬🙂

^ I’ve gotten several good deals in the last few years (coincidentally including a Cafe Corner and an Emerald Night), so I tend toward rejoicing with the brags and crying for the ones that got away, since I have been on both sides of that coin.

I just missed out on a #71040 Disney Castle for $50 near me this morning. I texted 9 minutes after it was posted, she read my message and never responded, marked it Sold soon after.

I was the only bidder on this, then my eBay app didn’t notify me that I was outbid. Some lucky so-and-so got the VW Beetle and Mini Cooper for $26.

I texted the seller last night, they said they could meet any evening this week except tonight, I just checked and it’s sold. “Someone with cash in hand came today.” Well that’s what I was trying to schedule with you!

It’s a tale as old as time.

I was the first to text yesterday evening, she said “Great when can you pick it up?”, I replied tonight if that works, then there was night and there was morning and there was “Sorry I sold it to someone else.”

I’m sure she got 400,000 messages overnight, and several saying “I’ll give you 100 for it if you skip the queue.”

Between FB Marketplace and OfferUp, I've been burned so many times on these types of listings.

There was that time (maybe 4-5 years ago?) I saw #42025 for $60 on Amazon. I would have loved to get it, but money was especially tight then, so I had to let it pass. I'll still have the memory...
