LEGO Harry Potter Bricktober 2018 (5005254) Back in Stock at Barnes & Noble- per www.thebrickfan.com

Awesome! I finally nabbed one. Much better than paying $30 on eBay. Got free shipping by pre-ordering the Illustrated Goblet of Fire.

Now reads "temporarily out of stock online"
  • bpk2300bpk2300 Member Posts: 248
I’m getting a bit nervous about my Harry Potter professor pack order. Placed order on May 6 and ever since then the estimated arrival date was May 14, but if I log in, the order is still “processing” and hasn’t shipped yet. I’m starting to think they let me order an out of stock item...
  • bpk2300bpk2300 Member Posts: 248
I reached out to Barnes and Noble customer chat, and they informed me that they cannot fulfill my order because the item is now temporarily out of stock, but it will ship immediately once they restock. Hopefully they get more stock... Bummer!

Just got the email from B&N that they’ve cancelled my order since it is unfulfillable. Half expected that to happen

I found the Newsweek Lego special issue at my store today. It was on one of the racks nearer to the cafe and not in the actual newsstand area.

In case you didn't see it, here's the arrival from the main page: https://brickset.com/article/44122/newsweek-lego-special-on-the-shelves-next-week

Thoughts on it @MegtheCat? Worth picking up at the $12 price?
  • MegtheCatMegtheCat Member Posts: 500
^There's very little advertising, which is a plus. It's sort of like one of the DK Lego books, but a "lite" version. Sections on castle (& Harry Potter), Star Wars 20th anniversary, etc. I wouldn't want to pay to mail order it with shipping charge, but in store, with the discount, it's nice enough. Not a must have in my opinion, but check it out if you come across it.

Another 50% off clearance wave online and in stores. Data is low so I can't post a link but I'm sure someone can help me out.

Their discounts have been really weak for the last year or so, that’s why I finally cancelled my membership.

True.  I rarely buy Lego from B&N as I can almost always find better deals elsewhere.  One exception... CMFs.  Where else can you generally find a 10% discount especially for just released CMF.

Having said that, I kick myself for jumping the gun and picking up all 16 series 19 at Gamestop before release date.  Could have saved myself about $9 buying all at B&N.  smh.  But I did pick up a couple extras so I saved about $1.70 on those.

Local B&N are also having this 50% off sale, saw #76087 at my local B&N.

Also I was able to price match #70618 at my local Target, if anyone is interested, just show the price on B&N website and the cashier will check if it's ok. YMMV.

Stopped at the Ridgehaven store Tuesday. They had a few things on a table marked 30% off. I grabbed a #41607 since I didn’t have Gamora. At the till it was 50% off, so nice surprise.

Eden Prairie store: 20% off Overwatch, 30% off TLM2, so I picked up #70821 for $12.59 after my 10% member discount.

For those looking for the Lego Ideas Treehouse or Voltron Barnes and Nobles had them in stock.  A whopping 0% off but with how hard they have been to find lately some might appreciate a chance to pay retail for these sets especially since Voltron is retired.

For those who always been there or new at Barnes & Noble, I myself love to be there and had a good experience with return and refund at the store. Barnes & Noble shows a competitive spirit in the field of selling books. And hence they seem to have a fixed Barnes & Noble Price Match policy as they don't price match.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,789
Yeah, except most, if not all, their coupons exclude LEGO from the sales and discounts.

B&N lost me when they went through a reorg a couple of years ago and many of my favorite workers at out local store disappeared basically overnight.  When we asked what had happened, one of the few remaining workers (who was in the process of leaving, but hadn't managed to find other employment yet) told us that they had pulled a Circuit City and basically fired all their long-term, high paid workers at their stores (at least in my area) and then either hired them back on or replaced them with minimum wage workers, with a highly reduced scaling policy for worker pay going forward.  The quality of the shopping experience and my desire to support a brick and mortar bookshop near me over Amazon dropped about as precipitously as you would expect.

I will still buy things from B&N, but generally only if I need it NOW and they happen to have it in stock, or for good sales on LEGO.  But I never go into the store just to browse and blow a hundred dollars or more on another stack of books I wasn't particularly planning on getting but looked too good to pass up anymore, and I almost certainly never will again.

Just went into Barnes and Noble the other day to browse Lego selection and see if they had the Stephen King Dark Tower series in stock.  Nope, but they could order it for me for ONLY $148.  A quick check of Amazon showed the same set for $75.  I'm perfectly willing to pay a 10-15% markup at a brick and mortar that offers a good browsing experience and customer service, but 50%?  Sorry.  Maybe they should have tried cutting prices instead of employee wages.

The only new set still available online is Privet Drive, not enough to meet the minimum purchase.  Target is selling it @ 20% off.

The MBOM itself seems to be out of stock now, so even if you add Hogwarts Express (in stock and >$75 by itself), the promo set isn't added to your cart anymore. It went quickly enough that I suspect it will show back up again somewhere--either B&N or Lego itself.

I remember now why I hate when B&N gets promotions.

My wife was able to get an order in, so I should be getting it and something else Harry Potter for Christmas, but she was running out of options to get to $75, so someone else is getting a Knight Bus for Christmas -- she gave it to me last year.

The promo is available, and it appears the Potter train is available as well to get to that price point to get it, but I'm loath to pay retail prices for Potter sets to get this set.

Yup, looks like it is back. B&N’s website is hot garbage, btw.

At this point I would rather just get the MBOM on the aftermarket than deal with B&N.  And I was saving a number of HP sets just for the MBOM event too.  So disappointed it went to B&N.

I don't see the offer on the B&N website anymore.  It was supposed to be valid until 12/6.
Just saw they have it marked as Sold Out on their Black Friday offer page.
Hopefully this set will become available elsewhere besides the Lego Discovery Centers.

MBOM #30628 available for purchase $24.99.

Edit:  There might be a bit of a glitch if you have already ordered one via GWP.  Also the site says limit 5 but I could only order one.

If you’re able to visit the BN Store, they have the MBOM #30628 available for purchase in store. My friend made the trip this morning and she was able to purchase 2 but made separate purchases. It was suggested one per household. I’m glad to be the recipient of the second purchase.

Good idea, the problem for me is they are not around my area, at least according to the online search of local B&N stores

Was just at one by me. They said it was online only, and they had none in the warehouse.
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 976
Called my two local stores.  First one asked if it was an actual LEGO set.  After checking they said they didn't have it and had no idea if they would ever be getting it. Called the other store and they knew about it.  Said someone else had called earlier.  They have them on order but no idea when they will actually be getting them as there are none currently in the warehouse.  She went the extra mile & called a bunch of stores in other states that were showing availability.  One is supposedly sending one to her store for me.  She said it should be about a week before it gets there and she will call me back when they get it in.  So hopefully this saves me from having to stalk the website waiting for it to show up locally.

Not sure what’s going on with the MBOM.  Is the set exclusive to B&N?   Is it a limited edition run?
I grabbed some this morning while I was out.   Called yesterday around noon and they held them for me until today.   They had no problem selling more than one.  Which makes me think there are still more at the warehouse.

Their website inventory for brick and mortar stores seems to be running behind by about 6 to 8 hours.  YMMV.

    Also, I have a tradelist or $.

From what I can tell they seem to be available upper east coast & Mid Atlantic to upper mid west area.  I searched a few areas and none where I checked in FL or CA but they had them in NY & one of my local stores located some in Michigan or Minnesota and one is supposedly being sent to them for me.  They expect it to take about a week arrive here in CO.  They said they have some on order for the store but they haven't arrived at the warehouse yet.  Someone reported on another website that their local LEGO store hinted that it might be available as a GWP in January.  I guess the distribution for Barnes & Noble will slowly be making it's way across the country.

good info^ and thanks to flight risk too for info.

I have my name in at my local B&N but being west coast, looks like i'll need to wait.

If it doesn't work out I can do without this and just keep at collecting the minifig-scale sets.

Side note, my shop had #75280: 501st clone troopers in stock, which was the first i've seen stocked in my town. They also had some DC superhero girls that must be flying off the shelf.

BN is famous for having old retired sets on the shelves (and typically at RRP as well). Which is nice sometimes if you missed something.

May want to check the website.  I'm in NE Iowa and all of Iowa and up to Minneapolis didn't have any late last night.  Now they're showing up at stores according to the website to place order and pickup.
