I noticed last night Amazon is running a spend $50 get $10 off deal on certain sets, probably to match Target, although Target has a lot more eligible sets. I ordered the small A-Wing #75248 and Obi-Wan’s hut #75270

It'll be interesting to see what condition these will arrive with.  I had the option of same day delivery (of course I chose that!) but my track record with unscathed items seems to be even worse than normal when I choose that option.

Strangely, my order from the secret listing still hasn't shipped and shows an arrival date of Nov 18... I'm glad I was able to order one from S@H in case this Amazon order never pans out!
  • dspigeldspigel Member Posts: 478
I was able to order the frigate from amazon last night. I hope it arrives in a box but I’m preparing myself for the worst. I mean amazon was able to put 75968 in an envelope and it’s a decent sized box. It arrived smashed on the side as expected.

I got a notification that my Frigate shipped and will be arriving tomorrow

Mine not only shipped in a box, but they actually had an appropriate amount of air-bag padding, so they weren't squished and mangled to hell from that either.  Potentially (thankfully) the best shape LEGO box I've ever gotten from Amazon!

Weird that people who ordered this morning already have theirs in hand. Mine still doesn’t look like it’s shipped at all. Looks like I ordered October 13. I wonder if it’s slipped through the cracks or if this is a weird situation where they won’t ship it until the last possible moment to meet the “arrive by November 18” that showed when I ordered.

    Tantive IV is $160 (20%)

That's good deal on Tantive IV. Anybody who wants it should jump now, since it's expected to retire next month.

Looks like inventory is finally catching up enough that places can run discounts on the retiring sets. Amazon on Tantive IV, and Walmart on Tree House. I expect Downtown Diner and a few other large sets will start to see their first discounts. But... act FAST if you want a set. The inventory is there, but probably won't last long.

Amazon has the Aston Martin for a 'great price' of 279.99 right now (and yes its Amazon's price currently-not a 3rd party seller) :-)
I think Amazon pricing bots are getting a bit confused with all of the sales and stuff going in and out of stock.

Not a deal, but I keep seeing Amazon jack up prices on things that are sold by them.

Example: Razor Crest #75292 keeps going up to $169.99 from $129.99 even though it is still Amazon selling. It's just blowing up.

Amazon strikes again. Bought a Vesta Wind Turbine set, and they just slapped a label on the box and sent it out.. Ridiculous that this occurs. At least they should provide an option to pay a 1 or even 5 dollars to have the item shipped in a shipping box.. and trying to report it only gets me to a bot that took me to the replace or return item section, which I do not want to send back as they no longer have them (and even if they did they will likely just do the same thing again).. Just ridiculous.

I wonder what prompts them to do this— I’ve been buying Lego from Amazon for 9 or 10 years now, and the sets always come in packaging... a couple of times they have pulled the padded envelope routine but usually things arrive boxed up... maybe you are on Jeff Bezos’ naughty list!

It’s been the same experience for me until recently. My Tantive IV was shipped in the same box as my cat’s litter with the box of litter sitting on top. All of the smaller sets I order are arriving in bubble mailers now.

I think, unfortunately, this is likely due to the not-so-great conditions in Amazon warehouses and the pressures the employees are under. I've heard various companies have run out of shipping boxes... I had a non-LEGO Amazon order arrive yesterday with just a shipping label on it--it seems like anything in a box is just getting a label slapped on.

Yup, it's definitely a roll of the dice; there've got to be so many variables going on and I feel like a lot of it comes down to the discretion of the person packing the item.  As I mentioned elsewhere, I had a lot of issues with my Technic Defender order and got 3 different variations of packing, all from the same warehouse.

I've received 2 Tower Bridges with labels and rips in them and bags falling out years ago. Amazon customer service literally told me to screw off.  I haven't order LEGO from them since.
Will they just ship LEGO like this or has anyone received something else from Amazon like this?  Other than something ridiculously enormous.

A couple of weeks a go I ordered the Marvel Legends Mjolnir, and when I went to check out, it was noted that the item is shipped in the factory box, and offered me the option of having it placed in an Amazon (unmarked) box. I selected this option because I didn't want a sticker slapped on the product box and having it look messy when I gift it.

When I received the order, the product box was inside a brown Hasbro box, and the Hasbro box was inside a plan brown box. This worked out well, I would have been fine with the Hasbro box except that it clearly stated what was inside it which might have given away the surprise. There is no good reason to ship Lego in anything other than a plain brown box.

I received #10261 roller coaster with just a label slapped on.  Box beat to crap.  No other problems with dozens of orders in the past decade.  Guess it was "my turn"...

I'm very leery of buying some things from Amazon and after reading all of this I doubt I would ever risk buying anything LEGO from them.  Bad enough that the one time I did same-day pick-up from store from Target for LEGO that they slapped stickers all over all the boxes that wouldn't peel off without destroying the boxes.  Never did that again even though I don't save most of the boxes anyway.  I've purchased items from Amazon where they've shrink wrapped everything together & then thrown it all in a large box with no additional padding/packing so this big lump of stuff was just clunking around inside the box.  Fortunately nothing was breakable but definitely not the way to safely ship stuff.

My Lego orders from Amazon have dropped off massively the past couple years. I got the Solo MF with shipping label on the set box and dents/ugly-ass tape job, but luckily that’s the only really bad one I’ve gotten. Nowadays if I see a good price on Amazon, I get Target to match it (and get the redcard discount), and pick it up in store.

That's not a bad option for sets that Target has in stock. It's also not a bad option if your local Target price matches with Amazon. I've had a really hard time getting them to understand that not every item that says "Prime shipping" is a doorbuster/lightning sale. Yeah... that's right. They interpret the "Prime" logo for free shipping as the same as a Prime-only deal. I know they're supposed to check on their tablet, but they never do. Not even the managers.

While Amazon should at least have the option of packaging in a better box, y'all have got to remember that for the average person working in an Amazon warehouse, LEGO is just a (very expensive) toy. I don't think the typical Amazon Warehouse worker would even fathom that people would care if the box the toy came in had sticker residue on it.

    Also, worth noting: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/12/15/postal-service-holiday-packages-delays/

Regardless of how much or how little you care about box condition it is still unacceptable to send the product without a shipping box. Lego product boxes are not designed with the durability and integrity to withstand the rigors of shipment.

I won a contest on a well known AFOL-run news site, and they shipped my prize this way. The shipping label was put directly on the box and sent from Canada to California.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,432
Maybe even more important this time of year: Amazon shouldn’t be sending _any_ product in its original box, lest the surprise of a gift be spoiled!!

Maybe they stick to the rules better here since it’s so close to headquarters, but they always check on their device when I ask for a price match.
