Not much to go by but that profile looks more Police Station than Italian to me.

Yeah it's kind of an odd profile. If it is a Police Station, what's the betting there's a helipad on top?

how could they miss selling another helicopter?

I bet we`ll have a lighthouse in one form or another by 2025 in this line.

My modular PP has a helipad on top. I built it with two of the 2014 City police stations I picked up on clearance. As much grief as I like to give helicopters it does add fun detail to the build.

If there were a helicopter it'd be nice if it were something a little more retro than we typically get in City. Perhaps something like the Bat-copter from the 60s Batcave but without the fantasy details.

I hope it's not too tall. My modular "street" is in a bookcase with 14" space between shelves. I can put it on top, but that's prime space for wide or tall spaces, like the Fairground sets, the Tree House or currently the Mos Eisley Cantina which is too wide to fit inside any of my bookcases. Also, the DUST!!

Clearly I need a custom wall of bookcase with tons of depth and at least a few shelves with plenty of height for tall buildings!

Edit: DD's antenna has 1/4" or so of clearance. If the height is something like an antenna, I'll just remove that (or move it to somewhere lower on the building).

Judging by the blank photo and the picture on the front of brickset with the sheet over it, it looks bigger than the corner garage.  The top looks almost flat as if it could include a helipad.  Is that a billboard in the back?  If it is, I think that is the first billboard since Grand Emporium.

It could be an art gallery? Im a bit skeptical of the old police station rumour that pops up every year (I am in no way hostile to a police station as long as its old fashioned and includes an old car).

However, I do agree the silhouette definitely looks more like a police station then an Italian building. Interesting that it looks almost like a corner building?

Maybe its a hotel, or museum? I dont think its a post office though. How about a long awaited hospital? With helipad? That would suit 2020 a lot more then a police station.

Looks like a corner building. Also looks big and chunky. Promising.

It looks like a flat building (the side wall is far too close to the side to be a corner). I suspect that the odd bit on top is a third floor over part of the building, and that the slight bulge at the bottom is part of a vehicle exiting the station, Fire Brigade style.

I suspect a Police Station but I would prefer if they relesed a School as well.
  • BrickchapBrickchap Member Posts: 1,357
I wonder if its a hoax to make sure any 'real' leaks arent noticed in the 'wave' of 'its a police station'.  Id rather a hospital to a police station and as has been pointed out out of all the years Lego would do a police station Im going to be very surprised if it does turn out to be the 2021 modular.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a police station. They are selling and have continued to sell City police sets across the world.

I just hope it's not a re-release of #10197. Am at 99,5% over BLing that one...
    Police Station would be cool.

But really, who am I kidding, whatever it is, i'll order 1-1-2021. :)

Something matching the architecture of #10197 would be great. Maybe a dark blue upper floor instead of red.

It actually looks pretty nice, but I hope Lego releases something new, rather than a different take on another set.

Do you think the shape is anything to go by? Or is it a red herring? Looks like some kind of attic action going on up on the roof, maybe some castlations along the edge too? Guesses anyone?

    Maybe an optional Bat-signal.

Well then we KNOW that the alleged leaker from Eurobricks was wrong about one thing - he said the reveal wouldn't be for several weeks. If he's wrong about that, he could be wrong about a lot.

I'm still feeling a museum/art gallery.  Less outside detail, more emphasis on the interior.

And a rush on the Dinosaur Ideas set...

My bet is the same as it is every year: too small and too expensive! (Insert lengthy rant here)

What?  They're never wrong.  Always... eventually... right.

I doubt Lego have a "back-up" modular so it would be a choice of pull-the-plug and take the flak, or release it and take the flak (if any). If it's a police station.
This is 100% correct - the design and production was started atleast 18 months ago, and probably even further back.  Given that the factories, distribution network and the retail channels all experienced delays for varying periods in 2020, the fact this set is available on its regular release schedule would lead me to believe that whatever intervening factors in 2020 may have given LEGO pause to release it - likely have little impact.  Even if it ends up being a police station, newsflash folks - people will still be buying police stations.  I'll be buying a half dozen of these, no matter that it is.

The only aberration we've every seen was the quizzical re-release of the Creator WV Toy Shop.  That certainly seemed to be some sort of calamity of inattentiveness, or a test to see if the market would reject (or ignore?) (or celebrate?) a minimal-impact re-tread of a popular seasonal set.  Despite our collective disappointment, there was a new box, some minor design changes and plenty of product available.

Look - the even let that Osprey hit the market when they 'pulled' it from their own retail channel.  The LEGO release schedule is a train, and it takes a lot to stop a train...

The silhouette is very interesting, it could be a police station but it could also be lots of other things. Now while there's a lot that can go into a police station Im wondering whether the size of the silhouette suggests perhaps something else.

A museum or art gallery for example would need more space to have exhibits then the 'basic' cop shop.

In a MOC we can add lots of rooms and details but Lego is usually very good at covering all bases of a 'theme' (as in police station, diner, bank etc.) in the smallest space possible, therefore would they need a building even larger then CG to make an effective police station?

There would be two cells at most, probably only one, an entrance for public inquiries, interrogation room, radio room/dispatch and maybe one garage. Even that is theoretically more then they would necessarily do.

Take Brick Bank. If I were to do a MOC of a bank I would take the whole baseplate with at least four tellers, two desks to write cheques, possibly a larger vault, there would be other things Id think of but in Lego's case they only did two tellers and ultimately a bank with part of the build taken up by another building.

Perhaps this will be a police station but with another business or government building next door? To summarise, it would be unusual for Lego to need a whole 'building block' (minus sidewalk) to dedicate to one whole idea.

Well, there’s the obvious - a police station next to a doughnut shop :)

Some have speculated that maybe a retro TV station is also involved because of the large antenna protruding from the top of the building.

Many police stations have an antenna for police band radio.

So... because posting links to websites hosting leaked images is still legal... Here y'all go. You'll have to scroll down, but here is what appears to be the 2020 Lego Modular Building. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/84574-modular-building-sets-rumours-and-discussion/&page=379

I like it! Is that a tiny doughnut shop on the left? And it looks like a sand green building on the right. Definitely police radio antennas on top.

I like it overall. I’m not as sure about the super narrow side buildings, especially the one on the right that’s also set back a good bit. But the devil is in the details. Gotta see it in high res and probably in person to know how well it works.

My impression is that the skinny building on the right might be a wing of the police station, possibly the jail. It looks like there might be bars in the windows.

It better come with a helicopter! Or at least a police ATV/personal watercraft/motorcycle/bicycle/Segway ;-)

I'm hoping it comes with an old timey police car. either with the set or as a GWP.

  • BrickchapBrickchap Member Posts: 1,357
@sweetness34 Agreed! Either a 1930s/40s british patrol car or 1950s American police cruiser.

If it has to have a helicopter then as previously stated it would be very cool to have a Sioux helicopter (bubble canopy eg MASH helicopter, Batcopter etc.) It would fit very well into the 1950s theme.

I wasn’t that big on getting a police station to be honest, but I really like this if this turns out to be the real thing!
I’m happy that it has little side buildings, because that breaks up the ‘boring’ bigger buildings with the same footprint, like TH, FB, GG. It’s more realistic to have all different widths!
i also love the colour pallette, and I think it would be perfectly placed next to the above mentioned modulars, because of the contrasting colours.

I like the main build but not a fan of the two narrow ones. It would look more impressive and imposing as a single building.
