Wonders never cease.
Cadet Mahoney! Cadet Mahoney! Report immediately to the commandant's office!
Clearly I need a custom wall of bookcase with tons of depth and at least a few shelves with plenty of height for tall buildings!
Edit: DD's antenna has 1/4" or so of clearance. If the height is something like an antenna, I'll just remove that (or move it to somewhere lower on the building).
Police Station would be cool.
But really, who am I kidding, whatever it is, i'll order 1-1-2021. :)
And a rush on the Dinosaur Ideas set...
Problem is this has probably been at least a year in the making, so it's likely the plans for the 2021 modular were made back in 2019. I doubt Lego have a "back-up" modular so it would be a choice of pull-the-plug and take the flak, or release it and take the flak (if any). If it's a police station.
This is 100% correct - the design and production was started atleast 18 months ago, and probably even further back. Given that the factories, distribution network and the retail channels all experienced delays for varying periods in 2020, the fact this set is available on its regular release schedule would lead me to believe that whatever intervening factors in 2020 may have given LEGO pause to release it - likely have little impact. Even if it ends up being a police station, newsflash folks - people will still be buying police stations. I'll be buying a half dozen of these, no matter that it is.
The only aberration we've every seen was the quizzical re-release of the Creator WV Toy Shop. That certainly seemed to be some sort of calamity of inattentiveness, or a test to see if the market would reject (or ignore?) (or celebrate?) a minimal-impact re-tread of a popular seasonal set. Despite our collective disappointment, there was a new box, some minor design changes and plenty of product available.
Look - the even let that Osprey hit the market when they 'pulled' it from their own retail channel. The LEGO release schedule is a train, and it takes a lot to stop a train...
i also love the colour pallette, and I think it would be perfectly placed next to the above mentioned modulars, because of the contrasting colours.
