Me too!  I had a hard time deciding between that, the Ecto-1,  and the NES... in the end I had to go for the BW to pair with the Batmobile..

Argh, wish I'd known!  I purchased the Batwing to get the 2 other GWPs but would've gotten the UCS A-wing instead.

Wanted the Elf Clubhouse, but got Sesame Street instead. It was between that and the Bookshop. Used up all my VIP points so it was free.

Do you still get the double VIP points as well then if the items did not cost anything?
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,272
^As far as I've ever experienced, the VIP points do not calculate when using VIP points (either partial or full).

I woke up this morning to see a text from Brickhound that the Elf Club House had been in stock for 26 minutes but was back out of stock...only 20 minutes prior to me waking up. BLAST IT ALL! I would have actually been able to get the ECH and a few other things to snag the GWP!

I would have thought waking up before 7 on a Saturday would have given me at least some good luck with the LEGO gods?

My cart is ready to load it back in should it pop back up.

Managed to snag Assembly Square on Backorder this morning after placing an order last night for the Hidden Side Castle & a few other items.  Forgot to add the Rakuten 2.5% rebate on the backorder but last night they were doing a rare 10% rebate which I got for that first order.

The teal 2x4 brick is no longer available.  The Charles Dickens set is still there though.  I thought the teal brick would last longer.

Elf Club House just came back in stock about 15 minutes ago. It only lasted about 26 minutes this morning, so we'll see how long it goes this time. But worth a shot if you haven't already snagged one.

I picked it up along with some other odds and ends to get the $150 threshold and Dickens GWP.

Thanks for the tip, Switchfoot55! Staying in stock longer this time than last, it seems. Oh, and I got the teal brick as well as the Dickens....

@Switchfoot55 Thank you so much for the heads up on the availability of the Elf Club House. I managed to get it and the GWP as well.

I made a drive down to a Lego store yesterday (75 minutes one way drive) and grabbed the 2020 Haunted House. They had plenty of teal bricks, but were sold out of the Charles Dickens tribute. The cashier told me they did $20,000 in business the first hour they were open!
Being the heplful type she also informed me that I could call Lego customer service and they would get me squared away. I called the 1-800 number and... Got a busy signal. Apparently there ia a volume limit even for 1-800 numbers. But the 6th time I was to be placed on hold and after an hour, someone picked up and got my Dickens tribute sent my way.

Wow, that’s some brisk business! Depending on the deals this week, I may have to be at the store right at opening! I can usually get away with being up to an hour late and still get everything I want.

edit: I’m shocked there’s still not even the slightest hints on what the big door buster type deals will be!

Looks like they have run out of the teal brick GWP. Still showing the Dickens one though.

I got a message from LEGO saying that my Elf Club House order is out of stock and will be filled in 60 days. Fingers crossed that the GWP and double V.I.P. points will still happen.
  • SeijiAmasawaSeijiAmasawa Member Posts: 264
I went yesterday within 20 minutes of opening and there was an hour wait to get in since they were limiting the number of people in the store to 10 guests. But even with that limit in place, I can believe they made $$$ since there were so many massive purchases walking out.

You should still get them. We’re the other item(s) you ordered to get >$150 in stock? If so, they’ll ship those and the GWP now and the Elf Clubhouse later when it’s in stock again.

Reindeer and Snowman Duo #854050 is back in stock. It’s been listed as sold out for awhile now. Not as good as Elf Club House but still a nice little Christmas set.

Stupid question but do Sold Out items mean they will not be back in stock? I see a few items notated that way while others are Temporarily out of stock

You can very rarely tell, unless they have been announced for retirement in the next couple months. (And even then, this year, we've seen some sets come back into stock.)  Personally, if it's a newer, bigger set, I tend to expect them to come back into stock most of the time, but unless it was released less than like ~6 months ago I don't think there's ever a guarantee if it's just marked sold out and not temporarily out of stock.

EDIT:  If they are going to be retired in the next 6 months or so, better than 95% chance you're not seeing it come back.

I usually agree, but this year has been weird. Ideas Tree House and Steamboat Willie have both shown as Out of Stock and yet came back. Both were expected to retire this year, but there are now some reports that Tree House will stick around until first half of 2021.

If there’s a set that’s expected to retire and that you want though, I would absolutely buy in November if you have a chance.

So Lego has teased 20% for Black Friday on select sets. Any rumors on those?
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,426
Almost certainly going to be a hodge podge of retiring sets.

Does anybody remember how they advertised last year? Did they say 20% off and then surprise us with the 30% off door buster sets? Or did they always tease the door busters?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,536
Seems like in past years Cyber Monday has had better sets/percentages off but the promos are run out by then.

So, 25 minutes after I submitted my ECH order I too got the email saying that it was out of stock and would ship in the next 60 days. I'm going to call CS and confirm my GWP will ship out with the other items I picked up. So long as it does, I'll continue to call my local LEGO stores to see if they happen to get an ECH in stock. If so, I'll call and cancel my online purchase and forego the x2 VIP points and then snag it in store. I rather have it before Christmas than after. Fingers crossed! (My LEGO stores nearby didn't sound very optimistic that they'd be getting them in any time sooner either...)

For the curious, I got the email notice from LEGO at 10:34 PM (PST) and the Brickhound In Stock alert at 10:37. Then the Brickhound OOS alert at 2:06 AM (PST).

I find it odd that they would show stock on a set for 3.5 hours to only immediately send an email that it was OOS?

I received my order today already from [email protected] from Chicago.  I'm 5hr straight west of Chicago/Navy Pier and it usually takes 4 days to arrive and has to make a 2 day trip thru Kansas City back to Illinois before it crosses the Iowa border.

I spoke with CS this morning on the OOS email for the Elf Club House. They said the system didn't update properly based on the limited stock they had. Not sure I buy that answer, but whatever.

They anticipate shipments to go out mid-December for those who were able to order. We'll see.

I'll keep checking local LEGO Stores in the event they get some that come in.

It seems like this type of situation has only been a very rare occurrence in the past. However, it's been happening a LOT in 2020. The Nebulon-B fiasco is the most public example, but it's hardly the only example. At least most sets are still in production and it's just a delay, but still quite frustrating for people like you.

I was hoping to get Elf Club House with the ice rink promo, but I guess that's less likely, unless they're still shipping a lot of that set to the stores each week. My local store got some last week but were out within a day.

I'd keep the email notification from LEGO [email protected] active as well as as Brickhound. You never know.

And keep calling your local store(s) M/W/F at 9-10AM local time to see what's coming on their shipments. You can reserve one usually for pickup that same day.

I was just placed in a queue to visit LEGO.com . I'm currently #3566/3906. If anyone else is waiting to see what the BF deals are going to be it may be wise to join now.

I stopped asking the question as to why the largest toy company in the world has such a garbage website a long time ago.

Im guessing the sales prices have not updated yet. Likely due to site issues.
