I'm plotting my Saturday... I was expecting to work all weekend, was told yesterday that I would be... then found out today I'm not. I worked last weekend, so I don't mind some time off... :)  I'm thinking #71712 and #71722 to get the Charles Dickens GWP; might as well spend another $20 (and a couple of cents) to get the teal brick also.

...and today I find out I might be working this weekend after all! I also learned that if I work Saturday, then Sunday is double time, rather than time-and-a-half. If I work, I get done at 1p.m., so I should still be able to get the GWPs at the store.

Just bought #42114 to get both GWP, its my Christmas present to myself and something build over the festive period while watching films, eating cake and supping whiskey! Plus I have a nice chunk of VIP points to put towards something next year now.

I have to figure out if there’s a viable way for me to add a larger space for a working WV train in my home office. In the past I’ve just had a straight section with about a quarter turn on one end. I have a 20”x26” space now. I might try just resting a 30x40 laminated board on top, but it looks like that will really limit the space for my desk chair.

Im fairly confident 30x30 will get a full train loop, but I also need space for the other WV sets (I have the train onward, so it’s not too many, but obviously it increases every year!

^ @KungFuKenny, did it come that clean and bright, or did you have to clean it?

It was extremely dirty but the prints were great, the trans yellow parts weren’t scratched, and the greys weren’t yellowed much at all.  I’ve seen lots of CS sets in pretty bad shape on eBay, so I was really pleased to finally get a nice one for a good price!

My LEGO status today: mostly delighted, a little annoyed. I went to the store today gor #80016 and #70436, with #41900 to get over the $200 threshold. So I got both GWPs. The stickers for #80016, #70436, and #40410 were all cut off center. This picture is representative. The black border should be equal on all four sides. I don't mind stickers, if they're done right. These are 🐂💩.

Weird that three sets from three different themes all had this problem. We’re they all from the same factory at about the same time? (Does each factory even do their own stickers?)
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,713
That's probably not what they would want. Let them know. I think there was an interview with a guy from QA somewhere hereabouts (or maybe thereabouts) and he said (iirc) that TLG want to know whenever there is a quality issue like this.
Yes "quality" is a subjective sliding scale but the same problem in more than one set at the same time suggests a slip in the QA.

Along with eclipsing the 2500 set mark over the last few weeks, this VIP weekend has pushed me past another dubious benchmark:

    As with the last time I posted this, I don't know what I'm going to do with all these points, or what I'm saving them for.  Maybe one of these days when there is a really spectacular GWP I'll blow them all getting fully caught up on everything on my wanted list...  J/k, I think that still only gets me about 1/5th through my current wanted list on S@H ;_;

    That's… crazy. Don't they expire??

They used to before they switched to the new system (they used to have a lifetime of 2 years from purchase date) but one of the changes with the new system is they no longer expire as long as you either earn or spend points within 18 months of your last activity.   If you keep earning or spending points, then they will pretty much last indefinitely.

EDIT: Also, yes, it is crazy.  I try not to think about the implications behind that number.  TBH I try not to look at the number too much or it might make me think about things better left in the dark :P

Perplexed and disappointed, I worked through purchasing a large wish list on BL for a series of vehicle MOCs getting all the pieces, including a rare part all the way from Europe, pushed the LEGO budget to the limit and then realised I hadn't finished creating the wish list and left off important things like wheels, windscreens etc.

I guess this will teach me to not run too many projects side by side. Only about 2/3rds complete.

So, an event that I look forward to each year, is a relatively low key toy exhibition in Naphill, where I would provide a live build.  Have done every year since 2013 when I cracked open the 'rare'  #10189 Taj Mahal.  Huh!!

Obviously with events like these not taking place right now, I was asked if I could provide a time lapse for them to include in some sort of collaborative video they're working on.

Not something I've done before and with not being able to see more than a square inch of carpet in the LEGO Room, perched at one end of the living room and gave it a go.

I like the cheeky grin at the end 🙂
Was it an enjoyable build? It's in my queue.

Honestly?  Not really.  I chose it because it was to hand and a manageable size to enable it to be built on the trunk.  That, and the fact that I could do it in an afternoon.  I am not a fast builder by any stretch of the imagination, but it only took me six hours.

I also found it repetitive in places and it was lacking all of the secret and nifty side builds that you don't really know you're building until you've built them.  Although to be fair, you don't often get those in ships.  Mostly Modulars etc.

I don't regret having it, but no, it isn't up there in my list of favourite or memorable builds.  I only bought it because I had the rest of the meaningful large-build ships from this current phase and it would enable me to sell my sealed #10198.

Just saw this on the upcoming Black Friday teaser page on the Lego site. Now I'm wondering what the criteria will be to enter the draw and what I have left to spend this month.
€6,667 worth of points. That's 51,284 red sausages from Bricks and Pieces or 31,747 golden sausages!

I'd love you see you fill you bathtub with sausages and swim in them, might you win. Deal?

Surprised my Lego order from Saturday arrived today. One item I bought was the mini gingerbread house because I didn’t think I had it but when searching for my other Christmas lego I found a brand new one.

First significant Lego purchase other than minifigures for months.

Right, I know what you mean. I had that with the Cloud Shitty. And the Dearth Star. But both are fun to look at once they're built, so like you, I don't regret them at all. I'll leave it to the end of the build queue, then...

Finishing my Ideas Doctor Who set that I've been slowly building while watching Dr. Who over the last couple evenings.

Also planning the setup and base for my WV. I won't start building any of the sets themselves until this weekend, but I need to finish setting up the base and track. Need to get some white flannel fabric as a wrap for the base board and some batting as snow drifts on Friday. Ordered a staple gun to secure the snowy ground. Ordered some tunnel sections to form a hill/mountain so I can take advantage of extra space over the track for at least one set, maybe 2.

Not sure about anybody else, but considering how many sets are sold out on the Lego website / on back order, I can't see it being a great black friday sale.

I'm still planning to go to the store tomorrow.  Even if the sales are not stupendous online, they usually have good stock for sales in the stores.  I'm wondering if I should get the Grand Piano if my store has any.

-went to bed disappointed that I stayed up til midnight for a less than stellar Black Friday event
-woke up excited that the Wallace and Gromit Ideas submission achieved 10,000... not my project but would be a day one purchase for me if approved!

In between chores and other life stuff, I managed to get all my Bricklink wanted lists up to date.
It took longer than expected because whilst I was at it, I had to update the At-At part list as well (due to the new version released) as well as checking what I had for the K-Project.
Turns out I had more of K-2SO than I thought.

I want 2 sets for Christmas. Cantina and the Ecto 1. Do I think I'll get them? No. This time of year Lego should have a backorder system on out of stock sets. Especially the big, sought after ones. They like their system. Keep the exclusive sets out of stock for months at a time and only have them in stock for about 5 minutes before we have to wait months for them to get 2 or 3 more in stock. My wish list is a sea of Temporarily out of stock.
I've had a look at the US S@H and they seem to be going just as badly as the Au S@H.

Same pains here, bro. And I had Barracuda Bay set aside on my list to ensure a GWP trigger... that's the game, keep the suckers whipped into a frenzy.

Right now part of me is tempted to buy something else at the same pricepoint then say "oops not interested, want an exchange" once the GWP is in-hand...
