CMF Series 8

edited May 2012 in Collecting
I did not see a topic like this on the forum yet.. so I decided to start one.. if you believe this topic already exists, please let me know.

I have been dying to know what CMF Series 8 will bring. The ominous black box is haunting my dreams.. I think speculating about them will subdue these haunts for the time being.. I have a few ideas listed below of hopes/dreams/speculations.. some of which I stole from other posters/sites..

1. Golfer (with bag, three clubs, and teed up gold ball)
2. Mountain Climber (with backpack, spikey shoes, and harness)
3. Female skiier (same as male skiier from Series 2)
4. Old fashioned diver (with big round helmet and a spear)
5. Yetti (done pretty much the same as other animal characters)
6. Boy scout or girl scout (I think girl scout would be cute with cookies or something)
7. Santa (with an actual fat body.. nothing like what we've been given before..)
8. Horse jockey (with whip and short legs)
9. American Football player (with shoulder pads, football, and helmet)
10. Greek philosopher (with scroll and wearing a toga)
11. Roller Derby Girl (with roller skates)
12. Female Zombie (with an additional MF arm to hold as if being eaten - that would be hilarious)
13. Male lifeguard (same as female from series 8)
14. Marching band drummer (with snare or bass drum that is worn around the neck, two drum sticks or beaters)
15. Judge (with gavel and sweet curly wig)
16. Steve Jobs (never going to happen - I know - but complete with iPad or any i-device)

Well there you have my picks.. feel free to post your ideas/speculations below.. and feel free to steal some of mine if you like them (as I've said - a lot of them are stolen from other places)

I know at least one person on here who would love a roller derby minifig!!

i like your golfer idea, mountain climber, philosopher ideas, a lot of other good ones there. Instead of steve jobs how about Ole Kirk Christiansen? :)
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@mr_benn. I would honestly take any figure with roller skates - whether it's a derby girl (which would be the best) or just a generic roller skater (which would still be ok).. they teased me with the ice skate pieces and I've been dying to see what else they can do.. Do you have any speculations of your own?
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@Alczervik. Ole Kirk Christiansen would be great - some of the kiddies might have to look up who he was - I guess they wouldn't know Steve Jobs right away either.. I think your dream has a better chance of coming true than mine.

    I can't wait for series 8.

@wertyjj. Any predictions of your own?
  • KernelPanicKernelPanic Member Posts: 12
There will probably be a space fig(no idea what).
Yeti sounds great for the next mythical fig/monster.
Drummer sounds great for next musical fig.
    How about some new cultures.
    Bedouin with scimitar. (Warrior fig)
Jungle hunter with blowgun and dart. (Warrior fig)
    Belly dancer.
    Maharaja.
  • KernelPanicKernelPanic Member Posts: 12
Also Tibetan monk with red robe.
    Sherpa with huge backpack.
  • LegogeekLegogeek Member Posts: 714
less of a prediction, more of a want list...

    More clowns!
    Other Circus perfomers.
    Civil War characters.
    WWI & WWII characters.
Another boxer (the first guy needs an opponent)
    Ditto for the masked Wrestler
more hippies and disco people (male & female)
a jail prisoner (wearing stripes, so we can make a chain gang)

I'll try to think of more...
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@legogeek. I doubt we will see any modern soldiers but I love all of your ideas.

@kernelpanic. The Tibetan monk sounds really cool. Great idea.

    Ideas for figs:
Hunter in either blaze orange or dressed like Elmer Fudd (need a hat with ear flaps)
Fighter pilot in jumpsuit with helmet and face mask
figure in a sport mascot costume
Flapper (would go great with gangster)
    Shriner with fez

I like the idea of marching band figures. Trumpet player, Tuba player, baton twirlers could be possibilities in later series.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
I'll bite. I'm a sucker for these topics.

    What's a casual witch?? In jeans and a t-shirt :p

I'd love to see some old people (could re-use the sumo topknot but in grey) more fairytale characters (a new apple mould that fits ONTO a minifig hand would be great), a pirate with printed parrot (or any characters with new/different animals) a bride of Frankenstein with the classic tall zig zag hair, and a cowgirl (with wonder woman lasso?).

And I'll second your mountain climber (maybe with leiderhosen?), golfer, Greek philosopher (or another 'god' eg Zeus), old fashioned diver, roller derby or disco girl (could reuse the disco dude hair) and I'm sure an American football player must be on the designboards, but the actual football would be the problem. Oh and a warrior woman (Amazonian/Xena or Athena type).
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
The american footballer would be good. Especially if you take off the padding and he is wearing a rugby kit underneath.
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
Im a sucker for these too. I've already posted a few on previous threads but my latest wants are ..

    - Guy on stilts
    - Shepherd with crook and sheep
    - Old fashioned british policeman with helmet
    - Crusty
    - Chinese imperial guard (an update of the one in the dragon temple)
    - Old guy with deckchair and knotted hanky on his head
    - A Pegasus
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@andhe. Old people would be great.

@CCC. I would prefer a rugby player over an American footballer. Hopefully we get either.

@Si_Dorking_Surrey_UK. I don't know how they would turn a Pegasus into a MF, but I think the shepherd is a good possibility.

At some point or another. I think we will see most of these ideas in one of the future MF series. It's all a matter of when.
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@CurvedRoadPlate. That hunter would be sweet. I think your flapper idea is very possible. TLG likes to pair up male and female characters (caveman - cavewoman; pharaoh - cleopatra; tennis players; etc.) it's just a matter of time before most males have their female counterpart.
  • wertyjjwertyjj Member Posts: 64
Maybe a male pop star. Or a guy in camo.
  • airways09airways09 Member Posts: 30
@andhe @pstrickler27, old people like aunt may from 4854 would be great

    i'd like to see
    - a show jumper
    - a texan with ten gallon hat
    - amazonian warrior
    - miner/prospector
    - weapon/tool smith
    - strongman
    - foreign legion soldier
  • Brewer51Brewer51 Member Posts: 248
I'd like them to continue with the Roman/Spartan/Highland Warrior/Viking etc etc theme, and I want to see perhaps a Persian Warrior with a scimitar, or a Celtic Warrior.

Also hoping they keep with the mythological stuff and give me a Zeus to go with my (Ocean King) Poseidon.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
@airways09 - they have done the weightlifter already - probably very similar to a strongman.
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@airways09. Not sure what a show jumper is. Could you explain? Amazonian warrior would be sweet. And I agree with @CCC the strongman will probably be pretty similar to the weightlifter. Unless you had something completely different in mind.

@Brewer51. Zeus would be pretty nice. I have a feeling we will see him eventually. And I would always be welcome to more ancient warriors.
  • Brewer51Brewer51 Member Posts: 248
    @pstrickler27

A showjumper (I'm assuming it was meant in this way) is effectively a jockey. Showjumping is an equestrian event.

I'd love it if they received Hercules, or maybe Perseus with Medusa's Head. They could just name it Mythological Hero or something.

    Zulu Warrior.

Has to happen. Otherwise I'm calling Lego out for being racist!

*Africa is really close to my heart. I grew up over there and I'd just love to see some tribal African minifigs!

    :)
  • airways09airways09 Member Posts: 30
@pstrickler27, showjumping is a sport with horses, might nice to have a rider with whip and helmet although thinking about it, it might look like the ringmaster

with regards to the strongman, i'm trying to build a circus atm and struggling for acts!!
kind of like a leopard print leotard wearing make with novelty weights, but as @CCC said, would prob look similar to the weightlifter
  • airways09airways09 Member Posts: 30
    @brewer51 you get me
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
I'd like an old style city gent - black suit, bowler hat, umbrella - along the lines of the bankers from Mary Poppins. They have the bowler hat from the clown / riddler figures already.

Some cricketers would be good too.

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
@airways09 I just switched the head/hair on a spare caveman to make a classic strongman!

    Seconded for Hercules/mythological hero!
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
^^ Just saw the cricketers at LLW today and I was thinking the same :)
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
I'm from the states, but I feel it would only be fair if you guys get cricketers if we got a baseball player way back in series 3.

@spacecake. I had to look up what a Zulu warrior looked like. I think it would end up looking pretty sweet. All ancient warriors are great candidates for CMF.

Did a quick search, and saw an image of 8 minifigures: basketball player with afro(lol..why?) and a taller figure, Crusader, Female flight attendant, one that looks like George Washington, Half man/Half amphibian (I forget what you would call that), bum or drunkard, female vampire, and master detective. Btw, the search was on Bing, I didn't see it with the Google results.

It appears incomplete and of course this would be speculate, maybe even fake. Anyone else see it, yellow background image. Sorry, I'm not sure if I would be able to post it.

I'm not sure about all of them being a legitimate mini-figure, especially the drunkard.

@legomyLEGGO you mean this image: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=lego+series+8&view=detail&id=783CCB35CC39654EDBABDF947AFC5135360E96AC&first=121&FORM=IDFRIR

This is concept art done by LEGO Concept Designer Alexandre Bourdon, I did a feature on him a while back (more images plus spot the ones already made): http://brickfanatics.co.uk/cmf-series-8-and-concept-art/

    I love this idea!
With all eyes on London this year*, it would be perfect. Even if it is a stereotype that doesn't really exist any more. Only the other day, we were watching some terrible Stephen King TV thing where London scenes were shot in (presumably)) Melbourne, and to try and sell the illusion, the backgrounds contained Bobbys, a kid with a Union Flag backpack, and of course the bowler-hatted gent.

*actual number of eyes on London may be considerably fewer than "all".

I would also like to see more of these figures with different skin tones, to reflect the multicultural world we live in today.
We know that Lego have the colours from the many sets like PoTC, Prince of Persia and Friends etc.

Again, not a prediction or a guess but a want.

I'd really like an Elizabethan era figure, either Elizabeth I, or Drake, or Raleigh. I want the ruff for a custom minifig.

    Basketball player!

    Basketball player!
There are loads already in their licensed character range.
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@venunder - solid recap! I doubt we will get different flesh tones though - I kind of like the yellow skin... keeps it universal

@legos4ever - I think we need another sport represented before basketball - I think it is only fair that our friends in the UK get a cricket player - or an American footballer would be solid - what did you have in mind of the basketballer (what would he be holding?) - I'm surprised the proper footballer (aka soccer player here in the states) did not come with a football (soccer ball) - kind of a let down in my eyes

@mobricki - nice suggestions - I am not a fan of American country music (as I am sure most of the world is not either) - but I am dying for a Lego Acoustic Guitar!!

@KLOKRIECHER - I doubt we will see a WWII soldier - as cool as it would be - TLG tries to avoid modern warfare - but I think your teacher idea is a very good possibility - it would probably excite my girlfriend who is studying to be a teacher..

@legomyLEGGO - you had me too excited when I read your comment - too bad they aren't real - I search the internet daily for pics to pop up - any day now - I can feel it..
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
    Acoustic guitar.

^ I know it is not official Lego, but ...

    http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=412&&sort=price&sort_direction=0

I have a few, they are great quality, as are the electric guitars.
  • pstrickler27pstrickler27 Member Posts: 71
@CCC - I have seen them before - they are very cool, but I am waiting for an official LEGO acoustic guitar - Brickforge is great quality though.. I agree!

Though Series 7 had a few disappointments, like the Daredevil and the Evil Knight, all and all I would have to say (besides Series 4) this had been the best Series of minifigures yet. I hope that Series 8 will top all the other Series and a few minifigures that would be a great addition to any LEGO collecters collection would be...
    1. American Football Player
    2. Golfer
    3. Hiker/Climber
    4. Groomsman

    Post you other predictions!

What about a granny with an extra wolfhead? We already have an axeman and a grandma visitor.

And I'd like cow-suit man, with additional udders strapped on the front.
