Between my lack of skill and motivation, I've not come up with one yet...
But maybe I'll have to check it out. Hopefully it can be kit-bashed from a second Castle...
I had a bit of a dilemma when applying the stickers though as when I saw the set image on Brickset, the mouth just didn't look right with the gaps at either end of the printed tiles (image from main site below)
So despite my usual 'got to get it centred on the part' way of applying them, I left them off until last and then applied them where I thought they looked best.
Not a great deal to some but I'm very happy with the result and think it looks a lot better.
Saved Buckbeak for tomorrow, for when they get the remaining cubes from series #3.
If you have them, Sweet Mayhem and a sparkle baby would make perfect replacements for the minifigs!
It's all together, now to get the timing down.
Again, a fabulous model to put together and it looks fantastic next to the other two! :-)
Nothing is perfect though, and I have a couple of small criticisms (constructive, I hope!):
The White Tree of Gondor is represented by a white detached minifig hand, which is fine but, unfortunately, unlike in the instructions, the hand just falls into the hole that it sits in and won't stand proud at all. Not a huge problem though!
Barad-dur is *very* wobbly! It only sits on a couple of 1x3 double-jumper plates and is very prone to falling off, when moving. I'd have preferred a similar attachment type to how Orthanc was done in the TTT skyline, but this may not have been possible in this model.
Other than those nit-picks it is, like the previous two that I have built, a fantastic model, with great use of parts and different building techniques and I have loved every minute of putting these together.
I really am now going to take a little break, but I am determined to tackle "The Hobbit" next and perhaps something else, non-LotR one day.
Oh, one last thing, I think I'm definitely going to replace the trans-orange minifig head with the suggested "Eye of Sauron" piece from #79005 The Wizard Battle. I do have one, but it's currently packed away with the set. I would need a second one just for this skyline though, as I can't have the actual set missing a piece! ;-)
I just received some BL orders to build the Fellowship skyline, and I’ll move on to the others soon... too bad his Ideas project wasn’t approved...
Yes, agreed, it was a nice rendition of the IJ trilogy. Perhaps he'll upload a version to his own site at some point. It would be one I would consider building and if made as an original Lego set, one I would definitely have considered buying, but I do still want to do the ones based on The Hobbit and then the Star Wars Original Trilogy, so it wouldn't be top of my list.
the sticker is a repo - but the quality is amazingly good from this chap: https://www.ultimatecollectorstickers.co.uk/product-page/lego-star-wars-ucs-moc-stickers-for-40th-anniversary-esb
Anyway - fun build and looks amazing. Waiting for my Lego replacement parts for the Nebulon B now...
For cost, size and architectural reasons I didn’t want to use the modular sets for London (they would be great though) so I went with the 3-1 sets which look amazing anyway and then tweaked, customised and built around them.
this is still a little rough, I think some more refined roof details and the street paving needs cleaning up and finishing. But looking forward to seeing what these look like once the alley is built and sat in the middle...
Base plate for another section of castle wall.
Not planning on making a habit of it, but had been pondering trying one for a while and this was down to £20 in Tesco.
I can have the build space back now for diagon alley and the Hogwarts castle!
