Thanks for the heads up on the Beetle.  Finally, something I actually want to spend my points on since the new rewards system started.

This looks like the one that was sent out as a free Valentine’s gift to VIPs a few years ago...I’m surprised they still have some laying around!

In-store today, I got #30342 Lamborghini polybag with #71719 Zane's Mino Creature. I don't know what the spend amount was. "A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one." :)

I think 10 days (as of today). I checked the website 2 days ago to put in one entry and I think it said 12 days left.

^ Unless the sweepstake closing dates are different in each region I must’ve remembered 10 days as 12 then, should’ve checked back on the website today.

For 600 points, it sure was. It basically translated to 5 dollars. 5 dollars for that set was nice.

(Thank you - but I was looking for excuses to bury a different topic.)

I actually purchased one of these from a former LEGO Employee, so I get the impression there were a bunch of these minifigures floating around.  Makes me wonder if there was some sort of prototype set in the X-Men era that featured the Phoenix.

150 points for answering some pretty easy questions. Go careful on the equipment and Hagrid questions!

I used some of the free harry potter points to justify entering the Phoenix sweepstakes. One of the only SDCC minifigs I am bitter about not being in a regular set. And the lack of X-Men in general

They give you the points just for taking the quiz.  I only got 7/9 and still "earned" the 150 points.  :)

I got 1 wrong - the amount of times Hagrid taps the bricks to reveal Diagon Alley. It’s the kind of detail I haven’t kept in my memory banks as I watch the Harry Potter films once every 1 or 2 years whereas the Star Wars films or TV series more or less all the time!

I’d like to think the points are 3 free entries to future sweepstakes.
  • MugenPowerMugenPower Member Posts: 638
Not gonna lie, I'm not the biggest HP fan but I watched all the movies back in the day and 100%'ed the Lego HP PS3 game.  I had to Google the answers but must've read the wrong thing and got the Hagrid tapping one wrong.

That's the only one I looked up, but I got it wrong. The answer I found said 3x, but I think lego said 5x.

Seems like 7-8am UK time is when these interesting things pop up on VIP, and often on Tuesdays. I guess that’s all we have to go on. I’m not a massive potter obsessive but those rewards sound amazing for people that are. I would get a Star Wars equivalent in a heartbeat (or I wouldn’t because they’d be sold out before my heart had beaten a second time)

The rewards website is just another form of lottery imo. Perhaps if you're lucky you stumble accross a newly posted offering which you then can redeem but otherwise 99,999999% of the time you just can see which opportunities you missed (again).

I Googled that as well, apparently he taps one bricks three times and then two others, so five taps in total. Still it got me 150 points

I'm not sure what's worse -- that I only got one of nine questions right, or that LEGO still gave me the +150 points.

If I'd known, I wouldn't have wasted time Googling the answers.  :p

Lego seems to have change the rules for points and freebies. I didn’t get double points on last months tower because I received the freebies, or that is what I was told in the mail from customer care when I contacted them regarding the missing points. I was told that I had selected the freebies and that we can only get one promotion per order. How come I got two different freebies that order she did’t say. I have asked for a second opinion since it haven’t been a problem before and that I can’t recall having seen a option on what promotion I want to receive.

That sounds like nonsense. Pretty sure there is nothing that says getting freebies prevents double points. I would try again with someone else who knows what they are talking about.

Yeah, sometimes LEGO CS just make stuff up on the spot to get rid of customers enquiring about anomalies. It is especially frustrating when there are wait times of 10 days for a reply to email or hold times of an hour by phone.

sounds like nonsense to me too, likely a new CS agent.. I'd just call back and hope to get someone else.

If they want to get specific, the sets each month on 2x says this...... "Offer cannot be combined with any other VIP offer, discount or voucher"

Note in the above of course that the free gifts were NOT a VIP offer...they were an everyone VIP and non-VIP offer. So they don't have a leg to stand on.

I have ordered the Avengers tower as well during the double points and freebie .
It doesn't show that I have received double points either.
I may need to inquire why but it may end up the same way as @cp@cpsdk1

    Basic question:

If say buying a set for £89.99, can you use a VIP Voucher for more. i.e. say a £100 one and if so does it give "change". Or does it only take vouchers lower than the basket amount so you're always making a top-up payment.

Your purchase needs to exceed the value of the vouchers. You will not get cash back from redeeming them.

thank you, that's what I thought it would be but couldn't see it written anywhere. Wasn't really expecting cash but wondered if it re-credited points back or kept a voucher balance for next time
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
There is no benefit to buying a £100 one, it is the same cost as 20 £5 ones. So just exchange £90 worth - get a £50 and two £20 vouchers, and have £10 worth left for the future.

50 points used to be something before LEGO decided to turn their points system into a Dali painting. Now its, what, about 1000 points roughly 8-9 USD? Maybe it is elitist, but 50 points to me is nothing to throw at a raffle to win a figure like this.
Now if LEGO bumps up the raffle fee to 1K per entry, yeah I think I would be more hesitant to to this, but right now 50 points to win something that is not exactly cheap to buy (if its not a 'one off' type of offer that is), that's fine with me.

The problem with low points value lotteries is that you are up against the people that start many new accounts and get a couple of free entries per account with the easy to get bonus points.
