    ^I guess they fixed the code. It won't work for me anymore.
  • panchox1panchox1 Member Posts: 722
    huh. i've tried to do it several times with different combinations of products and get a message that I can't apply the code to my order.
  • PyrobugPyrobug Member Posts: 179
    Yeah, they caught on pretty quick and closed it down. If it's any consolation, they screwed me out of my Boba Fett helmet. The app said it was in stock. I got an email saying it was ready which led me to believe that someone had picked it and it was waiting for me. Turns out it was phantom stock and they waited until I got to the store to cancel it.

    That glitch worked out pretty good picked up 20 minifigs for $30 and change at 2 separate stops today.  Might end up being only $15 when it’s all said and done they gave me the wrong type at one of the stops and I didn’t notice until I got home.  I didn’t even demand a refund, just mentioned it in the post pickup feedback and got an email saying they would refund me!

    I used the coupon on a LEGO Boba Fett Helmet. Found out when my order was ready for pickup that it was out of stock. I got $24 worth of groceries for $4 though, so it wasn't all for naught. Still disappointed though...

    Thanks @Pyrobug!  I did a little sleuthing last night after reading this and was able to compile a list of fairly nearby Walmarts that might actually have either of these in stock at the reduced prices as my two local ones did not.   Went to the one the furthest North from me first and struck pay-dirt.  I'm glad I didn't have to travel further to check the stores to the east since they are in a town that is unfortunately suffering large amounts of Covid-19 outbreaks.  I just need to return the High School I ordered from Costco for $99.  So now I have both the High School & Lighthouse for a mere $6 more than I originally paid for just the High School.  This is only the second time I've been able to score a really good deal and it was at the same store that I got the Pirate Roller Coaster last year although that wasn't as good a deal because I bought it right before they lowered it to the really dirt cheap price & by then they had none left.

    I'd reccomend looking at the prices at the stores on brickseek instead of driving around but every time I've then gone to a store there's never one on the shelves.
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 1,064
    I've had little to no luck relying on Brickseek other than to find a sale price listed.  They've told me that stores have 6+ of an item in stock when there were actually none to be found.  This time I went into the actual Walmart app & found nearby stores that were showing the items were in stock or limited availability at the sale prices.  I got lucky at the first one which showed one of the two sets had stock & the other was limited.  There were 2 Lighthouses on the shelf & 3 High Schools in the locked case when I got there.  For my closest 2 stores actually one has the items at full price & the other I don't even think they had when I was there last week but if they did they were full price also.  They didn't even have much Lego stock on the shelves at all.

    I've had more luck finding things on the shelves at targets using brickseek but they never have things I want on clearance. It's more of a target stock checker than price checker in this area

    I was able to get two light houses and two high schools.  Both at different stores. At a third store found 60227 Lunar Space Station for $13! Definitely hit or miss.

    Oh man... I'd love to find clearance on #60227, everything in my region is still at $48 - you aren't interested in selling are you @dpadovano?
  • dpadovanodpadovano Member Posts: 8
    @pxchris I think I'm going to keep this one.  I'll keep my eyes open, and if I find any more, i'll let you know!

    A clearance deal here is at best 20% off whenever I've seen one and it usually is just one set
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
    I hope Walmart has caught on to their level of clearances.  For instance a $129.99 RRP set use to be a $59 or $64 clearance set and lately they've been starting at $75 or $89.
  • dpadovanodpadovano Member Posts: 8
    @scotty12 I've found that there's no rhyme or reason in how they price their clearances from one store to the next.  I've gotten the Pirate Roller Coaster 3-1 at one store for $35, then at another for $18, and then at others, it never went on clearance.  I've even seen some sets on "clearance" with only cents off of the MSRP price.

    Surely it all depends on how well a particular set is selling at a particular store: shelves are pretty bare right now, so there's no need to mark things down significantly, if there's no new product needing shelf space. I haven't seen the usual 10-20% off RRP on 2020 sets, the only exception seems to be Trolls.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
    ^^"Clearance" items only a few cents off are clearance by the store....not corporate.  And I'm not sure if that's a mistake or lack of shelve space.
        The Roller Coaster was also a corporate decision....it either stayed regular price or went on clearance from $54 and $35...and once it hit clearance...it's up to the stores monthly allowance of "discount" money on where and how fast they decide to mark things down further.  I believe its corporate that decides the first two mark-downs, after that it's a crap shoot.  All that depends up the size of the store and how well the store does $$ wise.
         I was more or less referring to the expensive sets that used to start off at 50% off and lately that starting margin has gotten smaller.

    While perusing local store stock through the Walmart app to see if any local stores had anything in stock on discount the new 1500 piece set with plates #11717 showed up for $39.97 although none of my local stores actually show it being in stock.  So, if anyone is interested in picking one up you may want to check your local store.  Online price is currently showing $59.97.

    My area Wal-Marts have #70422 Hidden Side Shrimp Shack Attack at 50% off ($25). After getting screwed over on clearance of #31097 this was a nice pickup for me.

    my local Walmart lego shelves are getting pretty bare. though they did have the new Jurassic world stuff. I'll have to check on the Shrimp shack when I go back. I would buy a second at that price.

    If you can’t find the shrimp shack in store for $25 it is still available online for $40 with a $10 Walmart gift card.

    I was able to snag 3 shrimp shacks for $20 each and 2 #70420 Graveyard Mystery for $9.  Not as good as last year when I found the #70419 Wrecked Shrimp Boat for $5 at a couple of stores.

    $9 For the graveyard is pretty great too. I'm assuming these discounts aren't at my Walmart due to the lack of stock. Not really sure why we don't see these markdowns. I did find the high school for $75 a few weeks ago, was stoked about that.

    Ghost lab was $9 & stunt truck was $19 at my local shop. There were a bunch of each.

    Checked prices on multiple items in mine earlier but nothing came up at the reduced prices.  I checked several Hidden Side sets as well as a few Harry Potter ones that were showing lower prices in some stores that are supposedly out of stock.

    Hidden Side sets found:

    High school = $75
    Bus = $30
    Stunt Truck = $19
    Shrimp Shack = $25
    Train = $49
    Graveyard = $15

    well, these discounts did finally show up at my local Walmart. picked up another stunt truck and the lab. may go back for another shrimp shack and graveyard. Didn't check the train but that is another that is tempting to keep an eye out for a second one.

    The best Walmarts for clearance are the ones too poorly managed to bother stickering things so only people who know what to look for find the deals

    I know of 2 of those...well..maybe not poorly managed...or just plain dumb...when they do clearance...they take the top shelve items (usually the most expensive) and stick them on the very top...and 9 times out of ten, forget about them until I climb up there and buy them at 70-80% off.  They leave the overstock up there too.

    Likewise. Mine is a ghost town with lots of pretty clearance labels on empty shelves. I did however pick up #41376 for $9 because I wanted all the turtles. :-)

    Last night my local Walmart had the Hidden Side Ghost Lab for $4.50 and the Graveyard for $5.00. Also had stickers for the Stunt Truck for $7.00 and the bus for $11.00 but none on the shelves. The train is still $80.00 though. Two left, hope it drops soon and I can grab one.

    Wow, cool! The bus isn't available around here. Target lists the train for $55, maybe Walmart'd price-match? https://www.target.com/p/lego-hidden-side-ghost-train-express-augmented-reality-ar-toy-train-building-kit-70424/-/A-75667055 Forgot to add, I DID get the train for $55.

    Got a Ghost Lab for $9 last week.  Felt it was good for a parts pack of sorts.  Even though Brickseek told me there were no more left at $4.50, I moved the remaining Hidden Side sets around and found one.  May keep it in my stash for potential trading, Brickset Secret Santa (after the way 2020 has panned out, WE NEED ONE THIS YEAR!!!), for now, seeing as I opened the other last week.

    super surprised to see that my Walmart has been massively restocked! The Hidden side train has been displaced to the random over stock top shelf. still scanning at 80 bucks. They may price match but I'm hoping it gets the 70% percent off treatment like the other older sets have so far.

    2 copies of #70422 Shrimp Shack Attack for $11 apiece. Inventory said they had multiple copies of other clearance Hidden Side sets in stock which I didn't find, but this pleasant surprise meant I walked away happy. It's always worth checking!
