Custom Lego pieces

I'm working on an MOC lpe design. Rather than using switches or some of the"switchless" designs I've seen out there, I've come up with what I would like to do. It requires some pieces that are not, and have never been made by Lego. Has anyone ever had custom pieces made? Possibly with 3D printing? If so, where can I get this done? I haven't seen much in Google results, and I'm always skeptical of stores that are not well known without some sure diligence. Any help is appreciated.

    People have 3D printed parts before. They tend to be expensive and have either too strong or too weak clutch and of course the colour is wrong as it is not lego. Depending or what it is, you might be better off cutting and gluing. Or just resigning based on genuine LEGO parts.
