Just cleared out my budget for a #6987 intercept base... as always with a secondhand purchase, I'm wondering whether I did the right thing... 100% complete, box (no inner tray), instructions... looks like it's good condition from what I can see. £100 facebook marketplace. Prices have been around that for a while. Three for sale in UK all over £180.
I really did wrestle with this, the price, the current lockdown climate etc.
Wait and see time I guess.
I'll quarantine it for a week when it gets here, then wash it...
Did I do the right thing?

I'd say yes! It's a great set. With today's exchange rate it would be $125. I'd pay that if I didn't already own one.

I’m having similar thoughts in quarantine... my mind tells me I shouldn’t spend money but the devil on my shoulder keeps telling me to buy sets...

Wanted the rally Cooper since the set was announced, but like the whole of Ebay and BL, I wasn't fussed with the Dakar buggy. Every 2nd hand set is just the buggy or pits. I made a wanted list on BL and couldn't find the mud guards in the UK (I didn't want to get it from Europe during this lockdown, but even then it was going to be £5 just for them) sticker sheets, minifigures and multiple posting bumped the price up to the point that the Amazon cost looked reasonable. I was expecting a delay on shipping for non essential items but its just arrived!

I'm surprised those mudguards haven't turned up elsewhere yet, even in a Star Wars ship or something to get the unique shape somewhere. It will really skyrocket on bricklink if it goes the way of the goats and never shows up in another set.

I thought this lockdown would be a money saver, oh boy I was wrong. I've so far bought the Pet Shop, Cinema, Fire Station and just pulled the trigger on the Town Hall (it was painful, considering how expensive it is)

^ Town Hall. Sold one at a modest profit as soon as it retired. If only I'd kept it!

Been doing some serious ebay in over the last few days - £1400 in sales, but cost of sending medium/large sets has shot up recently and today ebay send me a £1 selling fee invite - 4 days too late!

Hoping that Tantive IV will be on a daily deal, if not I'll hang on for JL to reduce the UCS ISD again (back up to £650) and buy it. TLG's freebie doesn't interest me at all, save for selling on ebay to subsidise purchase. Don't fancy paying full price for new A-Wing.

Disproportionately expensive in the line, it was just before the Modular popularity boom?

I get the sense LEGO had to decide whether to do another production run, and probably slower overall set sales coupled with other large, interesting sets coming to the production schedule resulted in an early retirement.

This was also around the time that the Pet Shop, Grand Emporium and Fire Brigade all had extended lifespans.  Perhaps the Town Hall was a short-lived trial balloon and was not scheduled for a long production life from the beginning.

(Ignore Death Star, Tower Bridge, VW Camper Van.)

I was thinking about getting The Lego House and Tree of Creativity, but the House was already sold out, which was probably for the best! I actually wanted the Tree of Creativity more, so grabbed that, along with some Dots bracelets and other bits and bobs for my daughters.

Just bought myself a birthday present, #75272 Sith TIE Fighter. My birthday is two weeks from tomorrow, but I don't think I can wait that long to build it! I probably won't last longer than tomorrow morning, tbh. So it, and the rest of my TIE collection, will likely be in "What are you building right now?" tomorrow.

3 set's still to be identified, but the easy one is gone. now is a mid level and the 2 hard level ones :P

that is hard to say. was going to get #75973 D.Va & Reinhardt from lego.com right up to the last momet when i found it for less on amazon.de. the Tantive IV is the only real set that had any hops of going on sale and me buying it and that going on sale was a hell of a long shot. also, this year i did not buy in the easter sale, and i have also not been buying samll set's like i done other years that left me with more to spend.

I recently bought some items from the Catawiki auction. The description of the items said that some blocks might be missing from the sets.
When I received the sets i immedaitely checked them and found that from the 4 sets in the lot, two were missing some parts.
The other two sets in the lot were missing approx 30% of the bricks. For this reason I filed a complaint at Catawiki, their expert had a look at it and said that my complaint was not valid as the description said that there were missing bricks.
My statement that there is a difference between a few bricks and 30% missing was not a valid argument. That was the end of the discussion.

Do you think it is reasonable to have 1/3  of a set missing and calling it a few bricks??
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 3,871
^ Not at all. I would say "a few" would be at most about 5% of a small set, 1 or 2% of a large set.
