I’ve never managed to watch more than 5 minutes of Harry Potter, it’s just not my thing but the sets are excellent ! The latest wave looks like another wave that I’ll be collecting all of them, they’re fantastic, top job Lego :-)

I really like how they are making all the castle sets connect. I am kinda regretting not getting into them but I don't need any new series to collect.

I'm so happy with all the sets we've gotten! Back in 2012 when it was clear that LEGO was discontinuing the Harry Potter line, I would've never guessed we'd get all these amazing locations and new figures... Can't wait to get my hands on them and I hope the rumours of the large minifig scale Diagon Alley turn out to be true as well!

These are lovely. I'm very happy with these.

My wallet has crawled into a corner though and is whimpering.

Bravo, TLG! I’m realizing now that two of the “big” sets in this wave are non-Hogwarts based, which is refreshing!

Very nice. No Diagon Alley yet but it will come. The Weasley Home, Astronomy Tower and Privet Drive are the ones I'm picking up. Not too big a hit on the bank account. I was expecting a big 2/3/4 thousand piece set though.

Yeah, I'm pretty hyped about these sets.  They really keep getting better.  I even like the Hedwig, and I'm not normally a fan of brick built animals (or people).

My wallet though, not hyped at all.  I did so well earlier this year, the only sets I've purchased since... forever (I think maybe stretching back even to last fall!) were the Lunar New Year ones.

The sets look brilliant! Perhaps a lack of foresight from LEGO for us to have another Ford Anglia already though!

Can't wait to see the Hogwarts sets connected. The Room of Requirement set looks like it integrates in, and even like its designed for another set to be placed on top of it - anybody got any ideas?

Just when I thought I was done collecting, and then they release that sweet Astronomy Tower set. I'm going to have to buy another bookshelf for my room just to hold my sets! Goodbye money.

The astronomy Tower looks to be from Slughorn’s Party in book 6  - I love Neville as the waiter.  Looking at the higher res photo it seems Lavender Brown is also included, so “Won-Won” and “Lav-Lav” will be in the same set!

It appears the Mechanical Hedwig set is a Barnes and Noble exclusive in the US. Does this mean it won't be available through [email protected]? My local B&N seem to be cutthroat with Lego stuff. Not to mention it seems like they mark prices up above MSRP.

No [email protected] always has everything. It just means Amazon/Walmart/Target/Etc won't have it

I would be shocked if it was only B&N... usually Target and Walmart exclusives are also available on [email protected], just not discounted as often, so you should be fine

It does appear to have the technic pin holes on both ends.

In the Harry Potter version of modular buildings, sort of. It doesn't have a baseplate and it would not be able to effectively connect to something like Parisian Restaurant.

Well, looks like Graup is continuing the line of...Maxi-figures? Whatever you want to call the brick built figures that are specifically meant to look like enlarged minifigures. First we had Marvel's Giant-Man, then DC's Ares, then the Giant Stone Warrior from Ninjago. I was a little worried they might be dying out.

^is it just me or does the Maxi-figure look more like Fred Flintstone than Hagrids brother?

I'm thinking about buying two Astronomy Tower sets, to make the middle part two stories high. It looks a little bit too small in comparison to the other parts. And that way I'll have another green house as well... The pieces from the tower itself I might use to mod the Room of Requirement set so it's not just a flat wall!

I saw a picture with the measurements of the Astronomy Tower set (41cm tall), but does anyone know how tall The Burrow set will be?

  • wardmwardm Member Posts: 887
    ^found it, it's 34cm tall!

I saw a photoshop comparison on Twitter with Grawp's nose removed. After thinking a bit, I think he looks better without the nose. It's an interesting choice that they gave him one.

I'd been seriously thinking about dismantling the massive Hogwarts I've built so far, but the astronomy tower is a nice set and probably provides just enough incentive to keep building it. On the down side I'd need at least three, possibly more, to maintain the scale of the earlier build

What do you guys expect them to do next? The rumours for this year’s ministry of magic atrium duel (dumbledore vs voldemory) from book 5 makes sense. And the large Diagon Alley too!
Following their own schedule, there should be some sets from book 7 (or movie 7 parts 1 and 2) and they’ll probably fill in some gaps with other books as well (like they did now with the Privet Drive set). My guess is there will be a new Shrieking Shack set.
For the Deathly Hallows I expect another part of Hogwarts (with some exploding wall features) maybe even the boathouse? Maybe another Room of Requirement set (with lots of high stacked stuff people have hidden). I could see them doing the white dragon as well and maybe Malfoy Manor.

As for minifigures: I really hope the series two will include a Madam Pomfrey, as we already got the hospital wing with last year’s Clock Tower. We already know about the Professor Sprout that’s going to be in the series and she’s absent from her greenhouse in the new Astronomy Tower set.

Based on what we got this year, I think another part of the room of requirement based on the battle of Hogwarts is likely. I also think the tent could be the 20$ set from Hallows and that they might also do the Lovegood house. Atrium duel or some other 20$ Ministry set in addition to what we have gotten is plausible, as well as a D2C Diagon Alley and a Shrieking Shack next year. I'm curious to see how violent the sets will get, as the new Astronomy Tower clearly steers away from the death of Dumbledore, while Attack on the Burrow includes a very unnecessary dark action scene, and The Rise of Voldemort is notoriously dark...

Will the castle sets eventually turn into a circle that joins together or do they just connect along a straight line?

It depends on how you arrange them, but I don’t think that we’re close to finishing a full circle if you’d want that. It’s more like a winding line.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I was thinking maybe it could be a minifig scale castle with the quidditch set in the middle. But would probably need lots of space.

Yeah, and the Quidditch set itself takes up a lot of space as well. I bought two of them, but in my current setup I don’t have enough space for it.

Is the Great Hall #75954 discontinued now? Timing seems plausible. [email protected] availability listed as ending 4/17/20 (USA).

Where did you get that availability end date? I have had an email and a chat with customer service this week--my email was sent last week but I just got the response. Both of them said the set is not listed as retired and they're working on more but do not know when it will be back in stock.

Edit: If you're basing that on the brickset entry for the set, that's literally just pulling whether the set is in stock or not. 10270 Bookshop shows: "02 Jan 20 - 23 Apr 20" right now. There's zero chance that set has been retired.

I was basing it on the Brickset entry and the thought of a usual 2year cycle time. The way the secondary market looks at this moment also swayed my thoughts but the markets actions may just be a product of the times instead.
If it’s just temporarily out of stock, I’ll be glad to hear that.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
It's impossible to know for sure, unfortunately. The secondary market is wonky for quite a number of sets right now. A new copy of Detective's Office is selling for >$350 (US listings only), when it was consistently <$200 within the last 6 months.
  • J0rgenJ0rgen Member Posts: 591
I'm very curious about whether they will start doing repeats of bigger stuff like the Great Hall once it's eventually discontinued. I like the thought of the theme being finite, at the same time as I want more, MORE, MOOORE!

New sets have been listed on the LEGO website:

    75969 - Astronomy Tower - £89.99
    95980 - Attack on the Burrow - £89.99
    75968 - Privet Drive - £64.99
    75979 - Hedwig - £34.99
    75967 - Forbidden Forest - £24.99
    75966 - Room of Requirement - £17.99

The Astronomy Tower seems a bit pricey, but the others seem reasonable.

Very very excited about these sets. A lovely selection of minifigures and those centaurs are great! Thanks for pointing out the sweater knitting @wardm, good spot!

My only critisicm is we could have done without the Ford Anglia, but I do get that it makes the playset of privet drive more complete. I can see so many possibilities for play but also for MOD'ing, I'm very glad I've been saving up so I will have enough Lego budget to get these. Made my week seeing these sets!

It's still on the US site alongside all of the others. You sure it didn't just end up on the 2nd page since it's one of the older sets?
It is out of stock on the US site, but so are a BUNCH of other sets. Customer Service has told me they will be getting more, but do not know when, which matches the "Temporarily Out of Stock" status, since if they had a date, they usually show "Backorder and will ship within X days"

Most of the new HP sets are showing as available on the UK LEGO website...

I thought they weren't due for release until June - I managed to add them to my basket but didn't try to checkout.

    @Huw @CapnRex101 - for info.

Bit of a newbie here, have recently finished building the castle (71043) with my fiancée. I noticed a few comments about kits that attach on to the castle - how can I tell which ones these are?

@chrisjfinlay there‘s nothing to attach to the large micro scale Hogwarts. Only the smaller minifig scale sets can be linked together:
#75954 #75953 #75948 and the new sets #75969 and #75966 can all be linked together using technic pins. You can arrange them how you want.

Diagon Alley GWP was in September November. I imagine the rumored Hogsmeade will be in a similar timeframe. So don't order everything yet. Make sure you have enough left to qualify for that.

Edit: Don't know why I typed September!

I've definitely learned to hold off on buying.  Got burned last year grabbing the Clock Tower & Hagrid's Hut as soon as they became available.  I think I bought during Double points but shortly after Hagrid's Hut showed up in Costco for a much lower price.  Also got the Advent calendar right away figuring it would be hard to get but there were deals to be found for quite a while.  Not sure what will happen this year with all the supply chain issues but I'm mentally preparing to be patient & wait for deals on most upcoming sets.

I'm not convinced that #75966 can be linked in the same way as the others. Those four big sets have what looks like internal and external sides. #75966 is internal on both sides, corridor and Room. It looks to me as if the technic pins are not spaced the same. I await the set's release to be proved wrong.
