According to Bricklink, I have all the known colors of what they call "Windscreen 4 x 4 x 2 Canopy Extender. Each color appeared in just one set
You receive extra points for this!

When it comes to minifig-sized robots or droids (or whatever you may call them) I'm melting. I have not yet found an easy way to identify them on Bricklink. Many are not categorized as such with the exception of Star Wars droids.
And I want to expand my collection...

There are quite a few in the Classic Space theme alone.  Here is a link on Bricklink...
    https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&q=Droid&catLike=W&catString=34.314&sortBy=N&sortAsc=A&catType=M&v=1

One of my favorites came in #6931 and seemed to fit in better with Blacktron 1 (which didn’t come until a couple of years later)

Yeah, I already found those through this link. The problem is that there are many sets where droids or robots were not indexed as alternate builds or considered to be a 'minifig'.

You'll find a lot of them (with various colours/insignia on their chest plates) in Nexo Knights sets - there's a nicely visible example here. They don't have their own tag, and I'm not sure if they even have a generic name within the theme, though some have personal names - the one who comes with the Fortrex is called Chef Eclair...

This little guy from #41237 is probably my favorite mini Lego robot.

It is not! The plate is genuine, but the lego on the studs are hardly visible

I thought they were apollo studs stuck on the flowers. I have seen one before, in black in the old Sopwith Camel, but never realised they came in so many colours.

Changed the plate so you all can see the lego logo. No more confusion.

So, I think I took this to something of a crazy extent, if not quite to the absolute extreme...

I wrote a wordy explanation about it for New Elementary's Patreon site...
I've edited that to fit the forum's character allowance for length and put it in a seperate discussion here, for anyone interested in more silly details.

With thanks to @KungFuKenny for secrecy, patience and support!
Those look amazing!  My favorites are the Redbird, Blacktron, and the classic trans-green windshield version.  Nice work!

A question for the monochrome minifig collectors:

"How do you remove print from parts?"

I'm sure I read that nail polish remover would work and as my daughter has nail polish remover pads I decided to give it a go on the motor cycle fairing from #60255 to test - as I'm sure many of you are now expecting I now either need to bin the part or do some kind of apocalyptic dystopian future moc in which I need to use a badly etched motorcycle!

    Brasso has worked for me.

There are various things you can try. These can all work to varying degrees of success. The key is a little at a time.

    Rubber/eraser
Various oils (essential oils make them smell nice!)
Very watered down acetone (nail polish remover)
    Rubbing alcohol / isopropyl alcohol
    Brasso
    Fine grade sandpaper
    Silicon carbide / carborundum
    Toothpaste
    Some furniture polishes

They fall into two general groups - abrasives that scratch the print off (and also scratch the surface) or solvents that dissolve the print (and also the surface). Either way, you want to use as little solvent as possible or an abrasive with particles in it that are as small as possible.

Guess I will be adding Brasso to the shopping list then!
  • CCCCCC UKMember Posts: 19,769
I advise getting a handful of police or fire torsos or just old parts to practice on first. For flat parts, I find it easier to hold the part and rub that on a tissue or whatever is holding your solvent/abrasive, rather than holding a tissue and rubbing it on the part.

I've used a product called quixx which seems to work very well, with no scratches or residue.

I have had a lot of success using pencil erasers. It does takes some time and effort. I've never noticed any surface damage but I suppose it might show up under magnification.

I collect parts that are either misprinted, mismoulded, or in a color that has never been officially released.

Some of my best include an unprinted Ahsoka Tano Headdress:

And a miscolored stage 4 Bionicle Kraata: (The one on the right has trans-green mixed in)
