The day Boris announced lockdown and closed all the schools, the sun came out. Its tshirt weather in the afternoons after a light frost!

It is not normally, but because people are only allowed out for an hour a day then it has been the best weather we have had.

I dug through the storage unit yesterday and think I found all the bags for this:

Seeing everyone build these large scale sets has me wondering if it's finally time to break out my #10240 UCS X-Wing.

    Hmm...decisions decisions...

Does it count if I’m mostly unbuilding stuff? My Lego shed was getting too congested so felt it was time to refill some of stash of boxes lurking in the garage roof. Mostly Ninjago stuff so far but also the Pirate chess set, which made we realise I have lots of extras to add to the new Ideas set in due course.

    It says:
left: Finally, the cottage is done. Lisa is working happily in her little garden
Top right: Little rose, little rose, grow for a little while. Tralalala
bottom right: she sings to the flowers, and see: they grow and grow!

    enjoy the set!!
Well, now I'm going to have to sing "Tra-la-la-la-la" whenever I build Fabuland sets!

Nice strip alignment on mustang, kenny, patience actually works? Most people complain about the mismatch

@KungFuKenny your son is wrong- the Mustang is definitely cooler with a driver! And why shouldn't a Fabuland figure get a sweet ride?

We made a start on the bookshop yesterday.
I love this stage of modular building. Just a couple of layers of brick wall and the patterns from tiles in the floor.

Following the Santa Mech example build for the compo here I knocked up a section of his workshop so the team could get it ready for trials...

I love it ... small vignettes are great. I like the way even some toys are burning but the baby is saved!

Or is he? The firefighter might be here for the truck! :)

Noooo ... he's not even looking at the truck. He's looking at the baby!

You two are spoiling my whole view of the world! I started to say "Wait, he;'s a fireman, he can't be bad!" but A) that's not necessarily so and B) He's not even really dressed like a fireman, that's a hard hat. He must be a crook come to do harm!

No, that's a LEGO firefighter's helmet. The bandana over his face is suspicious, though...
  • GrannyLEGOGrannyLEGO Member Posts: 354
Ahhh, you think it's a LEGO firefighter's helmet but it also could be a hard hat. Put that bandana with it and it must be a bad guy! Besides, he's about to steal a train and leave the baby to save itself, definitely a bad guy.

It's a Ferrari fire truck, so could be worth a bob or two!

The bandanna is just so he can breath through the smoke... while stealing the fire truck!
  • GrannyLEGOGrannyLEGO Member Posts: 354
I've got it figured out now! He is a bad guy and he does steal the Ferrari fire truck but he also has a heart and saves the baby while he is at it, leaving the baby outside on the lawn while he slips away with the fire truck which he better grab quick as it is starting to burn. But ... where is baby's momma?

I finally ordered and built #10270, The Bookshop. I read the comments on the forum about the height of the town house and whether you could add another story so that it would be taller. There was some speculation about duplicating the bottom floor and modifying the entrance to make it into another window and then stacking this on top. This though would make the whole thing too tall beside the bookshop. It seemed like a fun challenge and (I thought) easy to do. Ha! I now have even more appreciation for LEGO designers. I built a test middle story out of whatever parts I had on hand so the colours are a mish-mash. I managed to make this roughly 7 bricks high and though it's only a facade it is meant to be the full depth of the bottom floor. This meant that this floor also had to have stairs to the attic which would use up quite a bit of floor space. Next I had to redo the top floor attic - major nightmare. In order to create enough room to make this into a proper living space I had to redesign the whole support structure of the roof. I finally had a solution at 3 am but it's probably illegal and the ceiling height is only 5 2/3 bricks. Luckily I'm retired so my dream of becoming a LEGO designer was never viable anyway, lol.

Not sure where this should be asked ... on some of the LEGOMaster shows I have spotted the use of a small mallet or hammer to get some pieces better attached. Exactly what have I seen and where can I get one.

It is a rubber mallet. I think you can find them in arts and craft stores.

It looks like there are several options available on Amazon currently. I'm not sure if there is a perfect one that would avoid marking the studs of the bricks. But for less than $10, it shouldn't be too hard to find one.

I finished my Space UFO collection. I had parts left over! Apparently I have Service Pack #5384, but I have no recollection of ever ordering it from Shop at Home! Unless I got it at the Mall of America LEGO Store. I don't remember them carrying service packs. There are two printed black 1x2 tiles instead of one black and one grey- yes, I checked the built sets, and they're correct. The black shoulder armor piece is missing, and I have no idea where it might be. But since, until today, I didn't realize I had #5384... it's bonus LEGO!

Finished building Assembly square #10255 ...kind of.

Missing a white 2x1 jumper plate to attach the chicken statue on the roof. No biggie, I got a few hundred of them in a recent PaB cup. Also missing 4 medium nougat 1x1 wedges for the cladding around the spire bit. I have 5 grey ones on their place. These are used, there are a couple in some statue looking like a grey christmas tree, but there's supposed to be only 4 of those and 30 nougat ones. I double checked the manual, definitely not a misbuild.

I am in the middle of un-building the UCS Falcon and rediscovering features from the early stages I forgot about by the end of the build like the pop-out turret and even the entrance ramp decending.

in the process of building it and checking if everything is there!

anyone can point me in the right direction with custom carriages and wagons , that fit the emerald night style?

i want to somehow make steampunk circus wagons with scurriers in cages on flatbeds!
i have also a collection of minifigs with fine bearded gentlemen, which im very fond of.

Since I, like many others(!), have some unexpected free time; I decided to break the seals on #21315 which I got from the wife for Christmas. Kids loved seeing the pop-up element. Definitely a good addition to the collection. Just need to, ironically, find some space for it on the bookshelf I use to display sets!

@veyniac. The Brick Consultant is a pretty active AFOL with some skills. http://thebrickconsultant.com/  On his site you’ll see a section for his Minifig habitats. The structure looks just like yours. If you go to his Instagram page you’ll see even more. I believe yesterday he finished series 6. They’re pretty awesome. And I think I saw something about a live training coming up in a few hours.
