Big cats (lions etc, not fat cats) ideas for Fundraising

edited February 2020 in Everything else LEGO
Afternoon all,

I was lucky enough to be chosen to go on a volunteer event in October this year (2020) for The Big Cat Sanctuary. But, for this privilege, I have to raise £2k fundraising (I have to pay my flights and expenses) this raises money for BCS as well as covering some organizational and logistical costs.

Anyway, I was thinking of making some Lego inspired big cats (lion, tigers, pumas etc) but most I find are larger items and I would like to make some small ones so that I can use as prizes for Tombolas etc. that wont cost me much to build/source.

If any one has any ideas, designs and/or, would be massively helpful and build me a big big cat from Lego I could auction or offer as a main raffle prize, I'd be hugely grateful. Of course I could pay towards costs of the Lego pieces, but it can't be too much as I need to make sure I can sell enough tickets etc.

Anyway, any ideas, help or volunteers would be massively appreciated.

Mark

Any questions or queries on the BCS, please ask, They do amazing conservation, education, breeding and preservation work for our declining wild cat population. Of course, if anyone would also like to donate too, please do so. I did Dry January for SPonsorship, I'll be doing sponsored car washes later in the year, 10k races, and holding bingo, quizes and tombolas through the year to help too. Thanks for looking

How about copying the tiger polybag. You could also change colours to do other bIg cats. I think most parts are common and quite cheap.

Ah, didn't know there was one, thank you :)

Size is more going to be down to cost. They need to look recognisable, but as I'll be buying the parts as prizes, need to keep the costs down. So, was thinking of making multiple smaller items, brickheadz size or maybe slightly smaller

If anyone wants to make a bigger one (that i can pay for and auction off, or they can donate! :) ) then I was thinking 30cm long? maybe slightly smaller, so it can be a display piece.

Remove the big fangs, and do it in black for a panther, tan for a cougar, white tan and browns for a snow leopard, yellow and browns for a leopard.

There was also a lion, #7872, but it is not as good. Maybe just add a mane to a tan tiger as above.

They should be cheap to create as they are all basic parts and I doubt the prizes need to be that great if it is for a good cause.

You know, it's funny. I kept working on concepts, last night, and kept coming up with something close to 30285 myself, so @CCC is right.

Thanks for the ideas, folks. Really useful. I reckon I can work on the Bheadz Lion and the Poly Tiger and make any adaptions to be other cats. If anyone wants to build some small ones and donate me the pieces, I, and the cats, would be grateful! :)

I have been trying to find them, these were instructions that appeared in LEGOs Brick Life magazine for children

Although, that tiger looks sad, I assume because he's strapped to a pole and cant get at his food :)

He looks more impaled by the pole, which would certainly make me sad!

Yeah I figured you might perform some surgery to excise the pole ;-)

one tiger made 😬 it’s bigger than I thought!

That's the problem with big cats, they start off small and soon grow!
