Couldn't wait. Bought the 89 Batmobile and played the 89 Batmobile music while ordering it.
Only annoying thing is the AU store said the new Star Wars sets would be available on the 26th. Now they are slated as coming soon. Looks like I won't be getting the Obi Wan figure which is annoying.
Ah well. More money for my local toy store when they come out.

My Christmas Haul is stuck in Alberta. Stupid FedEx.

Ah well, I'll have a post-Christmas haul to look forward to I guess. And I still have like 10 or more backlog to build anyway. Finally going to start on the Indoraptor set today. Trying to get all the JW sets built so I can photo them all together before I finally disassemble the 2015 and 2018 sets with a few exceptions to keep on the shelf.

@Odeinoichus -sorry to hear about the shipping issue-we have the same problem with Canada Post-3 parcels stuck somewhere in Canada that are still missing including my Secret Santa gift. I too look forward forward to the late surprise when it arrives. However, I am enjoying my Christmas present #70620 from family and starting building last night.

@LittleLori - the perils of holiday shipping. Delays. I was surprised I got anything I ordered before Christmas, but a unrelated purchase from Amazon shipped on the 23rd actually was delivered Christmas Eve. So at least I had something to open, even if it wasn't LEGO.

Got an international package in the mail today... Thanks @toddlerbricks!

Sigh...that’s a great looking set.   I looked into it as well but after the Batmobile and Y-wing I felt too guilty... if you decide to open and build it post some in-progress pics (although you may be saving it for next Christmas!)

    still building
    #10255 Assembly Square.
it turns out that not building for a long time will slow your build speed.

Chopped the remaining turkey up ready for a curry. Taken Little Miss Speedy for a two hour walk. Now I'm cutting the seals on #21309 ready for a mega build

I love that set. It is one of my favorites.

/\ take your time and enjoy the build. I've never understood people spending hundreds of pounds on sets to then rush the build in a matter of hours.
Today I built #75254 , an hour at breakfast, an hour while watch Ep8 of The Mandalorian and a bit of time before tea. My daughter helped and we just enjoyed a lazy time with bricks.

I honestly build so quick because of space concerns. I have nowhere to keep a bunch of loose bricks while building, so each bag needs to be finished within the same day of opening. That being said, I still try to pace larger builds out so I have something to do in the off hours.

I'm starting to worry how much longer I'll be able to enjoy LEGO the same way as I do now. Life can fall apart so quickly as your parents get older.

Kind of annoyed at Lego at the moment. Well their online store. I just feel that if they offered pre orders for sets there wouldn't be this mad scramble and they could see the demand for each set in each territory.
I really feel Lego would benefit from a pre order system for all sets. I know VIPs get sets early sometimes but I feel a good pre ordering system would be good and save alot of hassle.
Plus it takes so long to get things back in stock. It wouldn't be a problem for a run of the mill City set but Central Perk has been out of stock for about a month. I didn't want it then but I want it now. I know it's the holidays but this is a frequent thing here with sets taking months to be back in stock. A good back order system wouldn't go astray either.

Hopefully my order ships tomorrow but seeing as they would have a huge backlog of orders from over Christmas I'm prepared to wait a few extra days. Hopefully the new Star Wars sets become available or at least get a release date.

Popped into the local department shop to find the last of the series 19 CMFs - unfortunately still short on the mountain biker, but somehow also came out with this...

@Charmiefcb, one month isn't so bad, I've had several sets I've had to wait months for, one example, 70658 Oni Titan, went OOS on [email protected] a week after it first appeared & stayed that way up until October or September this year (so well over a year)... What made it worse is that the only stock that appeared locally was at Kmart stores & they seemed to get one per store.

The biggest problem is that if local retailers want more stock (particularly the Lego Certified stores), the warehouse that supplies our [email protected] will prioritise local retailers over [email protected] customers, which is why items can remain OOS for month after month while the Lego Certified stores can churn through pallets of the same item. It's great if you live in Sydney, Melbourne or the Gold Coast & can visit these stores, but sucks for those of us relying on [email protected] for them. One [email protected] CS rep accidently admitted that that's why I had several BrickHeadz drop off of two of my orders, I've ended up having to get a few peeps from here from overseas send me those ones in the end.

Free is always the right price for Lego!  Especially when it’s your neighbors & you don’t have to travel far.  Unfortunately when I was warned permanent marker was involved, I wrongly assumed it was on the box.  Gives me something to do in between sorting out & reboxing a couple small sets now that the grandkids have gone home.  That way they’re all going to be ‘new’ toys again once they come visit again.

That happened to me. The Star Wars 20th Anniversary Imperial Dropship. Out of stock for months then retired.
The Lego stores here aren't really convenient for me. Bondi is a pain to get to and with the way the Eastern Suburbs folk drive it's like risking your life. Broadway is a place I get really bad feelings in. I can't explain it but it's just a place I do not feel comfortable in.
So I rely on Hobbyco, Myer and David Jones to get the hard to find and exclusive sets if they get them. If they don't get them I have to go to Lego online.
If they are going to have exclusive sets then at least have it in stock or get it back in stock as fast as they can. Or at least let us put in orders and the overseas warehouses can ship them.

When we had to have orders shipped from Europe they were in stock more often than not.

Ms. Legopants has impeccable taste! This is such an interesting build that fully stands out, being one of the most unique Lego structures I've ever seen. It was fun to build, and even more fun to admire on the shelf. I love this set. :D

Surprise delivery today, my Boxing Day purchase arrived despite me thinking it'd take a few more days to get here. And then FedEx delivered my Amazon order, got the Shimmering Sparkle Spa at 58% off or so, which was a great deal. My LEGO Store order featured Warrior Lucy and Ultrakatty and Queen Watevra's Build Whatever Box, plus the Sticker Roll repack in anticipation of the Systar System Starship being picked up soon and The LEGO Movie 2 Movie Book Guide dealie from DK which was on sale and isn't currently in the DK Book database. (Despite being sold direct through LEGO.)

Er, so, it was a The LEGO Movie 2 day today. Pretty decent haulage. Especially as all the sets were on sale for 30% at LEGO Shop @ Home. With most of the sets on the Retiring Soon chopping block I'll be nabbing a few more before the end of January I suspect. Really hope there's a decent discount on some of those larger more expensive sets as they clearance out the sets.

I feel your pain on that one, I've had a several items (close to a dozen now, I think, including a few of the BrickHeadz), that went OOS soon after they came available on [email protected], only to stay that way until they retired, TLG really needs to figure out a fix for this.

Most of the issues are because of the new warehouse that TLG are so proud of. I remember several times under the old setup, they were able to bump stock from Europe over onto my order, even when it was listed as retired for our region, they can't do that any more as they're bound by what stock levels are & current status is for it based on that warehouse. I've also had issues also with the GWP situation, before the new warehouse, if it was still showing as available on the site, they could just add it to the order (probably bumping stock from Europe over to our side, I know one CS rep mentioned doing the same for some European customers with our GWP stock on one promo), but now, it's no longer allowed, if we have no stock left, that's it.

With the fact we sometimes don't get items on [email protected] until a few months after Europe, it's particularly annoying when they retire it early for our region (which definitely becoming a trend). There's been a few items that have been only available for 12-18 months & we've been the first region for TLG to retire them in. 70847 Good Morning Sparkle Babies & 70848 Systar Party Crew were barely on the site for two months before they were listed as retired & they went OOS the same day they appeared, so I dread to think what will happen with 40344 Summer Celebration Minifigure Pack, considering it's been available in Europe & the US since June this year & our [email protected] portal is yet to get it (I suspect it will be another we didn't get it "because there'd be no interest in it")...

It only took a year for me to go Yes we have a warehouse here now. This will be great. To Oh great a new exclusive set I'm going to have to wait months for to get back in stock when I get the money to buy it and then have to go through the horrors of Toll Priority to get it to my house.

Going through it now with the 89 Batmobile. Finally shipped. To be fair it is the holiday season so I expect delays. Got an estimated delivery date of yesterday. Not surprised it didn't come. I'll be surprised if I get it this week honestly.
I really don't want to go through the calling up Toll every day crap I went through last time.

I now feel relieved when I see an exclusive set posted for sale on Hobbyco or Myer.

Happy New Year everybody!  It’s under an hour now here.

My New Year’s eve project to stay up until midnight was actually disassembling a set.  I’ve never taken apart one so large as #21010 before.  Interesting experience.  With all the talk of losing clutch power with leaving sets assembled, and the quality issues of dark red, this is probably the absolute last set that should ever be left assembled for any length of time.  Given the majority of the build consists of stacking small dk.red 1x2’s or trans 1x1’s.  I’ve had the set built for probably about 5 years now, as it’s always on display being my favorite architecture set.

Time consuming.  It must’ve taken me at least as long to disassemble and inventory the set as it took to build it in the first place.  I had one ‘extra’ 1x1 lt.gray tile, and was ‘short’ on my counts by 1 1x2 red plate.  So glad to know my usual method of inventorying a set scales up reasonably well.  I did break 2 1x2 red plates, so will now need to request 3 before building the set again (I’m not a MOC’er so have no stock of spare parts beyond the tiny extras in sets).  Beyond that, there was perhaps some inconsistent clutch power here & there, but nothing that I’d note as a quality issue enough for that thread.

Sets <1,000pc I generally just throw in a gallon (or quart for sets small enough to fit in one) zippy bag.  So I had no idea how to do a set like this, where there aren’t numbered bags, and consisting of large amounts of one color.  So I just did bags within bags separating out parts with large numbers in small bags inside of the larger.  Hopefully when it comes time to rebuild this set it’ll be easy!

Toll is the worst, CS informed me that being in the Adelaide suburbs, I should be getting my deliveries within 3-5 days, the bulk of them have been 9-12 days, only one has been within the expected time frame. It's particularly painful because deliveries can be any time from 8am to 8pm & I've regularly gotten emails four or five days running informing me to expect my delivery today, makes hard to organise someone being home under those circumstances.
