Ooooh, boxes in boxes. Always a good sign.
Flippin’ heck this is the biggest instruction book I have ever seen. No wonder it took 20 years to build!
I commend the LOL Surprise! folks again for their triumph in packaging. Such a big box, such a minimal amount of product.
I really need to build something out of LEGO. Desparately... I should dig out that Old Fishing Store I have around here somewhere.
I’d certainly recommend this set.
I think I managed to loose a 1x3 tile, rather than the set missing it. Was building while sitting on the sofa. Picked out pieces from the tray, and put on instructions book. While attaching the pieces I found I was a 1x3 short, which I was sure I picked out. So grabbed another one. Got to the last stage and found I was missing the same 1x3.
Thorough search of the sofa and surrounds did not reveal it, so had to grab one from my spares.
Lesson learned: Don’t build on the sofa!
why don’t you put in a custom shooting range so the Stormtroopers can get some much needed target practice?
Day 101 of target practice. Darth Vader chokes on his aspirations.
There wasn't quite enough parts to do what I wanted so nicked a Tie Wing from #75237 (that I picked up cheap for the rebel fleet troopers) to use as the floor.
Quite pleased with the outcome all things considering but when the Christmas decs are down I plan to make it slightly more substantial so it fits in better with #75229 and CELEB2017-1 - Detention-Block-Rescue that I have built on display.
I do like this play feature where pulling out the section obi wan is holding causes the trans bricks to drop
This looks so cool. Waiting for chewy before populating with figures
I love this rendition. “For luck”
I am so am so glad they included the legendary crane scene.
And bag 5 done. Halfway there
Now we can properly recreate the chasm swing
Loving this set so far. Some typical annoying waste of parts and opportunity with the crane and cargo cart. Will have a think about what to put in that room. Barracks probably
One thing i am I am curious about is why they used bricks between the ceiling and floor plates instead of just plates. I understand the need for the multiple plates for strength, just not sure why bricks and not plates?
would it make the sphere too ovoid?
I’m enjoying watching your build progress... #10188 was the set that brought me out of my dark age over 10 years ago, so I definitely have a sentimental attachment to Lego Death Stars
Finished building #6080, from a bulk lot I bought 4 years ago.
I never thought that I would get so much enjoyment from sorting the lot and hunt for the pieces to complete this set.
Of course building from the multi-step per page challenging instruction was also a lot of FUN!
Some minifigs are missing and my son must have "borrowed" the black horses but overall a very awesome experience!
Had been hoping to build this for a while but various family dramas, Xmas etc all intervened...
Now, if only I could find the time to build its big daddy!
And I hate how Elves, which was an amazing theme, is being substituted by all these licensed themes - TLM2 partially filled in the gap, now Trolls. I did like most TLM2 sets, and I ended up buying more than I expected, but still, Elves was Elves. The only thing remotely close to it has been #41164 Enchanted Tree House from the Frozen 2 movie (which, by the way, isn't even featured on it - yes, it doesn't happen only in Marvel Super Heroes sets, everything Disney movie-related is like this).
Bag 6 gives a lovely mini version of the throne room. I love the emperor figure.
Bag 7 is the detention block. The forced perspective with the sticker is great and the play features are fun. You just have to drop them down the garbage chute.
Bag 8 is the super laser array. The build of the array is very clever and looks great. I had also never seen the worm gear block before. Was a surprising piece.
At some some point we built the cradle for the tie advanced. Can’t remember which bag that was in.
Mid level complete
Bag 9 brings another floor and the turbo lasers. They are linked to turn together and elevate individually. I may have spent far too long playing with them and going ‘pew, pew, pew’
A completely non lethal shaft
Just bag 10 to go....
not quite the correct legs. The first time I have ever had a wrong part in a set - sure Lego CS can correct on Monday.
The top is complete
No Darth, not another PowerPoint presentation!
Found a a good use for my advent star destroyer
The little view screen you can flip over is so cool
Droid therapy
Everything is fine, how are you
Darth: I got this scar on my face during a mighty struggle!
Obi Wan: I hope now you've learned to stop picking your nose
Contains The Rise of Skywalker spoiler
2X4B and 523P off on their mission to save the galaxy that just happens to run parallel to some other droids. (I am going to have to do a full Shaun of the dead style thing of two similar groups passing each other now.)
I need a 2nd Leia to finish this scene off. Blockade runner build next then.
I decided to pull to pull out the pointless crane and put some troops in instead.
And finnally a MilF approaching the docking bay.
This set has been a fabulous build. It is a great playset - my kids and I have had a blast playing with it (they are going to be so confused when the see Star Wars). And it is great fun setting up scenes. That is going to entertain me for a long while.
I am now wondering if I can somehow fit a mini trench run around the equator.
Not too much of a mess at the back
Did not realise the lights on the sign changed colour. Is a nice touch. Only a minor shame you can’t set it to a colour or have changing
It is brilliant to be able to see all the details inside
This is a lightailing kit. I was very impressed with it. Parts appear to be genuine Lego. LEDs and wiring seem good. Instructions are clear. Was some minor confusion as the knock off set used in the instruction images differs slightly from the real one. I can also now appreciate the cost of these kits. There is a lot of fiddly work in making these parts and I doubt I could do a job half as good.
One thing i has not realised, that is a bit of a downer is that once the wiring is installed you can not longer take the modular floors apart fully due to the wiring running between the floors. Would have been good if there were connectors to allow splitting the wires.
This is something I might look at doing in the future as it is about my skill level.
Next up is Assembly square.
@Bumblepants Your MOC is beautiful. Fits in so well with #70620. I see part for the detective office and the shrimp shack in there and some familiar parts and stickers that I cannot place.
I am working on an Asian Gateway for a little park I want to build. Meant to be very simple. I think it is call a Tori. I am looking for thoughts or suggestions though. I have played with some styles as shown below.
It looks like you ninja-fied the Green Grocer! (Great work BTW)
