I randomly woke up at 1:45 AM and I got an order to go through using PayPal somewhat easily considering all the difficulty noted here. I noticed that even though it said there was an error, it was still processing the action. I even got VIP codes to load. I guess I was really lucky considering all commentary here.
That said, this is pretty ridiculous. While I was up I browsed a couple of other websites with Black Friday deals like Best Buy, Amazon, and Wal-Mart and had no issues. It’s crazy that LEGO has so much difficulty handling the heavy traffic. Either way they didn’t do themselves any favors by launching a product on the same day they were offering big discounts and product promotions

Wow.. Sounds like I was able to drive 15 minutes each way to the mall, grab the 1989 Batmobile and Disney Train, take a quick look around the store for any seasonal small things I might want, wait in line to checkout, and get home in about the same time as y'all took to check out online. That's just ridiculous!!

FWIW, it looks like the Disney Train is not giving 2x VIP points today. Makes sense that they pulled it with the 30% off so it's not a double promo, but I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out on Reddit. Still a good deal, but I thought people might want to know in case they were expecting both.

Something definitely must've gotten screwed up in my account.  Tried for about an hour again after sleeping for a few hours and it still didn't work.  Cleared cache, tried on yet another device, and no luck.  Called my CC, they didn't block it.  Called PayPal, they didn't block it either but did see me trying to make the purchase multiple times.  Finally, I tried checking out as guest and it all went through without a hitch.  W.T.F.  Now waiting on the line to speak to CS so they can add this purchase and the VIP points to my account.  What a mess.  Hope my account isn't fubared going forward...

That’s good, I’m glad to see it worked out finally.  Hopefully customer service will throw in something nice for all your trouble.
I still can’t believe this snafu happened again. You would think after the 2017 #75192 disaster someone would have made some improvements.

Site worked well just now for ordering the Batmobile... TLM2 CMFs are $1.99 so I grabbed a bunch of those also.
    @preuss
I suspect that if you have the receipt you can get the full amount back - probably worth it if there is a local Lego store close by.  It may not be worth the hassle of packing up and shipping back, but that’s a calculation you would have to make...

I'm really on the fence about the Disney Train.  It's been out for 2 months and it is on a 30% discount?  Is that the new norm for it?

Yeah really interested in that Disney train set as well, but I presume it will be around for at least another year and I had bigger fish to fry with some sets that may also be discounted this weekend (and then there is the Cyber Monday 'Black Friday' minifig and the unknown promotion going on to get one)... Too many options, not enough money for me this year.

Rumor has it they are doing a running change on the sticker sheet for it. I guess some issues have been reported and folks have been getting replacements.

I do like that for sets like the Knightmare, and TLM2 (one with sewer babies) accessory sets have a 'limit' of 99, so if you bought a bunch at one price and the price goes down you can still buy without LEGO cancelling your order (like what occurred last year for me when trying to pick up some Batman movie accessory packs for a really cheap price)

Hmm... what type of issues? I hadn't planned on building mine in a while--nowhere to put more than a straight track barely long enough for the train. If it's something I can check easily, I can at least open the set, check the sticker sheet, and ask for a replacement so I'm good to go when I get around to building the set.

I gave CS a call right after I made the order, which ended up being about an hour after the lines opened, and waited for maybe 15 minutes before speaking to someone.  I explained the situation and tried to get the order back under my account but they couldn't do anything and said they'd monitor the points to see if it goes into my account afterwards.  Was also hoping they'd throw in something extra but nope.  I did send an e-mail in the meantime so hopefully they can fix my order!

Wondering this myself. Got it a few weeks ago but it won't be opened until Christmas. If something is whacky, it'd be cool to check it and request a replacement now if needed.

My take on it is that it’s really over priced for the size.  I could be wrong since I haven’t compared the piece count to price but having seen it built, it’s not as large as I had imagined it would be once built.  The $230 price seems much more appropriate.

People were full fiends for this set though. There was legit a swarm of people who snatched up the two pallets on the floor before I got to the display (and I was 8th in line prior to opening). They quickly brought out more, and I was able to get one without behaving like an animal, but I have never before seen that level of stereotypical Black Friday shopper, um, enthusiasm. I've never really seen more than 5-10 people in the store actually, let alone a full on flood. It was a bit jarring.

I can only imagine that the online rush was even more insane. Having seen that this morning, I'm not surprised the GWP is already gone from [email protected] I've no doubt my local store is full sold out.

#70620 Ninjago City for $210 is now live. Lowest price it has been and it is on the way out.
#21315 Pop up book is $49. Been better at Walmart and Amazon before.
#41347 Friends Heartlake Resort is $70, been that at... Walmart and Amazon before, I believe.

    Sold out now...

The Christmas tree GWP is done now also... it was supposed to last a few more days like the mini Batmobile, so it looks like either Lego sold a ton of sets the last day or so or they massively underestimated demand for the promos (or both).  It will be interesting to see how quickly sale items sell out on Cyber Monday with fewer extras available..
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
As usual they likely under estimated the demand for the promos, plus they likely had those putting in multiple orders to get multiple promos. LEGO can stop this if they just limited promos to addresses to 2 or less but they apparently choose not to..

#10257 Carousel is $140, about $10 more than the summer sale.
    #76105 Hulkbuster is $84.
    #21313 Ship in a Bottle is $49.
All on their way out, I believe.

    #75888 is $21.

Wow here I thought our store was busy!  They were selling it steady but not with quite that much uh enthusiasm!  They mentioned they’d ordered 80 so thought they’d have enough. I wonder how long they lasted?

I received my Batmobile with mini Batmobile today (did not expect it so soon). They also packed the box well, no dents/dings in either box really to speak of (despite the promo and some extra packs I bought at the time).

That seems extremely fast!  When did you order?  I made my order around 10AM on the 29th but it still says “in warehouse”, so looks like I’ll have a few more days to wait
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
I ordered at about 1am on the 29th, fighting through the site issues. I also got my other order of LEGO stores, Accessory sets, and some xtra packs today as well.

I’m glad to hear yours arrived with no dents.  You’re very close to the Romeo warehouse tho and I’m a little further south.  More time for fedex to bounce my shipping box around.  It’s in transit tho and should be here tomorrow.
The Disney train just shipped today but it didn’t get ordered till after 1 am that night.  Normally I order duplicates of each set because I like to keep one in pristine condition.  But my family decided that I didn’t need to do that anymore.  Would have really liked to have two mini batmobiles.

Which is completely counterintuitive to a 'Cyber Monday' offering, hahaha.
Call one store that was on my way home from work and they had no promotions left. Was also at another store on Sunday and they were out of promotions too. Looks like LEGO might of underestimated, and this has to be one of the worst Black Fridays in recent memory.

yeah, that kinda blows. I'm hundreds of miles from a lego store. oh well.
  • klintonklinton Member Posts: 1,248
It's niether here nor there for me, tbh. I've zero use for the figure (maybe as a promotional display outside of a Lego city shoppe? I dunno). It's just 'collectible' clutter. You acquire it and shove it in a cabinet, never to look at it again. I don't understand the appeal, unless you're that guy who collects absolutely everything that Lego produces... which seems an unrewarding and futile pursuit in it's own right.

Honestly for me this was the best [email protected] Black Friday ever. 30% off the Disney train and with the Christmas tree GWP. Good deal IMO

I went to my Lego store today in search of the rumored exclusive minifigure, but instead walked out with a Batmobile since they still surprisingly still had the #40433 GWP.  Might end up moving both of those items since I am not really into that set.  They also gave me some type of gift bag with my purchase.  So bottom line is some stores did end up with extra promotions.

It may just be my opinion but with Cyber Monday being one of the biggest shopping holiday in the US you think they would have something. Even if it's just double points. While 30% of some sets is great for LEGO, I bought more sets for more off at other places the last couple of days. Don't get me wrong the promotions I got were nice, but that seams to be the only reason I buy from LEGO anymore.

    *nervous laughter*

    Yes.
Oh s**t, you are 'that guy', eh? I wasn't trying to step on any toes, just stating my own perspective on the relevance of the promo to the average collector. If you enjoy the hunt, power to you. These things are made to appease you guys. :)
I totally agree with your assessment of the whole Black Friday weekend. I was a bit annoyed at having to trek over to the mall on BF - of all days to be in a mall - just to get the Batmobile. The one D2C set I absolutely needed to build the day it dropped just happened to be the one that Lego decided not to offer early access for, hahaha. Getting the extra promos (the Christmas tree instantly turns #40433 into a Batman Returns display, hahaha) and getting to chat with other excited Lego fans while in line made it all worthwhile though. Seeing everyone excited on here for getting great deals on some fantastic sets was a nice bonus too. It was a fun Lego weekend all around, I thought.

Just received my batmobile...couldn't believe how poorly packed it was.  Way-too-big box with five packing pillows (two already deflated) and closed with a single piece of tape semi-diagonally across the top allowing one of the flaps to open.

The worst was that the two sets managed to crush and destroy each other, so the promo set is creased and torn, and the $250 set is dented and crushed.

Been waiting on hold with customer service for twenty minutes to see what they intend to do about it.

Similar packing job on my Betrayal at Cloud City. The tap on the long seam in the shipping box was barely holding it closed. Literally just lifting the box by one of the flaps caused it to open very easily. There's a crease on the Cloud City box, but thankfully not on the GWP boxes (Christmas Tree and 2x4 brick from the VIP weekend). Disappointing, to say the least. Still better than all of my experiences with Amazon though. They're TERRIBLE at packing large sets!
