Would You Buy Mad Max LEGO Sets?

  If we are going off of the Mel Gibson Mad Max movies yes, Tom Hardy movie no. I would buy a general mad max/post apocalypse theme if done right.

  It'd be rather superfluous at this point, no? Recent Ninjago and TLM2 sets have you more than covered for vehicles and locales.
  

  
  

  Revisiting the æsthetic in a few years with a branded Mad Max theme could be interesting, but I don't see Lego going there. The series is renowned for it's grisly violence, which stands a little too far out of their wheelhouse. They've demonstrated that they're willing to bend their rules, but I think that might be a little too far out there. Stranger Things is likely the extremity of how far they're willing to go.

  ^^Agreed.

  You're right, of course, that it might be too soon in light of recent sets like Apocalypseburg, etc...  But a dedicated post-apoc theme that takes heavy cues from Mad Max without an actual license would be pretty fresh if you ask me.

  Not just Apocalypseburg, eh? Ninjago has scads of stuff that would sate your needs, all the way from the first wave's #2505 and #2506, right up through last year's #70654 and #70655 and tonnes in between. You might want to investigate Ninjago more closely. :)

  Yep, the Ninjago sets you linked are kinda close, especially 70654 Dieselnaut, but the color palettes and, to a greater degree, the minifigs don't convey the post-apocalyptic vibe I'm speaking of.  To me, Ninjago looks more futuristic and other-worldly.

  Apocalypseburg and a couple other TLM2 sets nail the aeshetic with the minifigs, and left me wondering "What a great stand alone theme this would be."

  I cannot really see them doing Mad Max / Mad Max 2. They aren't exactly kid friendly. Thunderdome is a significantly lighter but again I don't really see it happening when they have done post-apocalyptic stuff in TLM2.

  I always thought Nexo Knights had more than a tinge of Mad Max to it. The timing was great - loved Fury Road at the cinema, started vaguely thinking it'd be nice to build something like that, and voila, a new Lego theme with bizarre war vehicles...
