     Also a lot of exposure of the sides of the cones making up the main engines (which are repurposed UCS MF cockpit body pieces) show it up to be an incorrect shape (straight edged cone rather than shallow bowl attached to a cylinder. Due to how few parts make up the engines, they really lack detail like ridging.
    I’ve been looking at this also and the cone shape bothers me a bit also...

     For those interested in modding I think onecase’s MOC may provide a relatively easy solution.  It uses the half spheres from the Death Star Planets set as the bowl of the engine and then builds up the cylinder in front as seen below...

    This may do a better job of approximating the actual Lucasfilm model without too much expense or trouble...
    That MOC looks massively better. Just lazy on TLGs part not to do something similar.

    ^ Except I see those hemispheres are going for $10-20 on BL.
    @Astrobricks
    That is the bottom half— the tops are much cheaper (at least they were 3-4 weeks ago when I sourced them)

    Edit: yep, the tops are going for around a dollar each.  Believe me, I looked into that.  There was a big discussion on Eurobricks on how to minimize costs for this build and onecase pointed out that the top part works out just fine also 🙂

    @monkeyhanger
     To be fair, this build is over 11,000 pieces!
    https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-23556/onecase/isd-monarch/#info

    It looks amazing but sourcing the parts has taken forever and would cost well over a thousand bucks if it was a retail set.  Some would say “but at least Lego could have done some more to smooth out/tile the surface”, to which others would argue that they like the studs-out look.. that it feels more like Lego to them.

    The ISD by Raskolnikov is also amazing and has an interior, but I personally preferred the smoother appearance and proportions of the Monarch.

    I think #75252 may be a decent compromise for those wanting a huge ISD at less cost (I can’t believe I just said that 😄)— for me, $700 was a good part of the way toward building the Monarch, and I had already started collecting the parts, so decided to pass on the official Lego version.

     @Pate5346
      I had roughly 40% of the parts available in my existing loose pieces and between BrickLink and Bricks and Pieces I have spent approximately $720 (over a decent period of time) - my last orders come in this next week or so and then I can start building.

    There are are some tricks to lowering the cost— color substitutions (say on interior technic beams that won’t be visible in the final product) help a lot, and you can also make some part substitutions on the cosmetic “greebling” (if you want to) which cuts off another $50 or so.  I had some of the rare pieces already, so for the most part I stuck with the original parts list and used the color subs to trim costs.  Also, Bricks and Pieces will have significantly different prices on some items(sometimes lower and sometimes not) so it is worth it to cross reference with that site (if it would ever get back up and running😬).

    As @Switchfoot55 has mentioned elsewhere, I derive a good bit of pleasure from the assembling and manipulating of Bricklink wanted lists, trying to massage the list until the lowest price can be achieved.  I suspect if you just upload the XML info into Bricklink without any changes the price could be quite a bit higher.  I’ll give a status update here down the road on the build and the experience in general.

    The thing that bugs me about the new ISD is just how empty and like a pinata it is. Star Wars sets in recent years have become more and more dense in order to make them look as realistic as possible along with cramming in as many play features as they can.

    I thought both the most recent smaller star destroyers were great (the OT one and the First Order one). However, to put into perspective just how dense these builds were, they contain almost a third of the pieces of the new UCS ISD, but probably occupy about a twentieth of the volume.

    In LEGO's eyes though, it did not come down to volume, but rather mass/weight (i.e. all the conversations that are being had right now are about cost-to-weight ratio).  Had they produced a set with such an interior, not only would there have been more pieces, but the cost would have increased to a degree that may have seen it approach USD 1,000.

    I'm not so bothered by the lack of an interior, as much as I am a complete and utter lack of more Minifigures.  At this price point, I would have loved to see the two Minfigures already included, along with an exclusive Vader, 2-4 Stormtroopers, and maybe even Palpatine or perhaps a few of the heroes from the Rebellion...

    Personally, I don't currently have the room for this, as it is I have the new UCS MF, the Death Star, Bespin & Slave I to find space for (plus all our other sets), I'd suspect I'm not alone in thinking a small ISD with interiors would be better than this hulking big set. A slightly small scale with interiors could have easily been done within the same price, if not lower.

    Ah, so the question was more whether it’ll get released with all the other sets - I don’t really know on this one - TLG shouldn’t be doing region locked sets anymore outside of conventions so in theory anyone should be able to get the Brickheadz seen in Target. But it is conspicuously absent from the Force Friday reveal images.

    Anyone know the UK prices for the Force Friday sets? I'm thinking of picking up Kylo's shuttle on Friday to get the freebie, but had been bracing myself for the price. However, the only two stores showing up on google list it as 100 GBP. That seems like a suspiciously good deal considering it's $130 + tax in the US.

    You can buy my original unopened Kylo's shuttle for £80. No freebies though.

    Only thing tempting me is Tantive IV if its reduced. Wish it was more substantial than it is though.
  • The_RancorThe_Rancor Dorset, UKMember Posts: 1,039
    Most likely what’ll get reduced is what generally isn’t selling that well i.e. the action battle sets. They generally seem to have little interest when i’ve observed any stock and browsing in stores. And they never seem to have gone into a back order category online. They might also lower the prices of the 2 larger sets in 2019 from Kasyyyk too.

    This is by no means confirmed, but I would guess pricing somewhat like this:
    • Death Star Cannon -£20
    • Pasaana Speeder Chase/A-Wing - £35-40
    • AT-ST Raider - £50-£55
    • Y-Wing - £60-65
    • Yoda - £80-£90 (haven’t checked the piece count though)
    • Kylo Shuttle - £110 (£100 does indeed seem too good to be true)
    • Millennium Falcon - £140-£150
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 United KingdomAdministrator Posts: 2,284
    I am not completely certain of the following prices but believe these are correct:
    • #75246 Death Star Cannon - £17.99, €19.99
    • #75248 A-wing Starfighter - £24.99, €29.99
    • #75249 Resistance Y-wing Starfighter - £59.99, €69.99
    • #75250 Pasaana Speeder Chase - £44.99, €49.99
    • #75254 AT-ST Raider - £49.99, €59.99
    • #75255 Yoda - £89.99, €99.99
    • #75256 Kylo Ren's Shuttle - £99.99, €119.99
    • #75257 Millennium Falcon - £149.99, €159.99
    I agree that #75256 Kylo Ren's Shuttle seems quite reasonably priced in the UK, if that does prove to be accurate.
    blakusdkAstrobricksThe_Rancor
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged England (the grim North)Member Posts: 1,185
    £100 for the shuttle would be great. Same number (but way better) minifigs as last time, same number of pieces but £10 less than 2015. The US one has gone up $10 plus tax since the last release.
