Disney Princess Lego?

My daughter loves everything Disney Princess and lego. I would love to buy her a sleeping beauty castle or tangled tower. Do you think they will ever make lego sets from the princess movies or any of the more clasic movies like Peter Pan or any of the other non-pixar films?

Well, a few weeks ago there were an article in one of the biggest swedish newspapers stating that Lego was going to try and reach girls too and not just be a boys toy. So therefore I find it quite likely that we'll see a Disney Princess theme.

But I'm not going to speculate in wheter it will be as soon as next year or sometime later.

People are speculating it might be Disney Princess because Lego have the Disney licence at the moment. I personally hope it will be a remake of Paradisa, but not quite so pink!

There was an article in one of the UK newspapers a couple of weeks ago about a new line of toys coming out later this year for girls ...

... no mention of Disney Princesses though.

Last year my daughter did a focus group study for a new line of Lego girl sets. I have pictures, but don't think I am allowed to post them until the sets are released. I'm assuming that's what the new line will be. She was given a set to take home and play with and we had to record how many minutes per days she played, with whom, how long it took her to build the set, etc. After two weeks we had to return the set and she was given a pink bucket of Legos in exchange (along with a tidy sum of money). The set she "tested" was a cafe with a pink and red color scheme. I liked the set, but the figures are not regular minifigs, which was a surprise. I think the hair was interchangeable with regular minifigs, but the bodies are different (more "curvy"). The torso detaches from the legs so that you can switch the "clothes", but I'm pretty sure they were not compatible with minifig bodies. As for the building, it was much more like regular Legos than the Bellville sets, which I appreciated, as actually building the set is what she likes most about Legos. They had prototypes of six or seven other sets that could potentially be in the series, too. They were a mix of house/city/horse/dog sets. She was excited about them, but her one negative comment was that the colors were a little too "girly" (too much pink). I don't remember a whole lot more about what we saw, as it was over a year ago and we weren't able to get too up-close-and-personal with the other sets.

Then again, maybe it will be Disney Princesses...

If they ever do, you guys think it'll be Duplo or maybe Belville-themed? I mean, pink pieces are cool, but I'd lean towards regular Lego more.

I really hope they do make some classic disney sets in the regular legos. My daughter is nearing the end of her duplo run and would love it if we could build some princess sets together...I'm not sure how long my Castle/Fantasy and Star Wars sets will hold her attention.

Don't forget the Paradisa line of sets from 1992 to 1997.... everything from Riding Stables to Beach Cabanas.... and although there were pink parts... they were mainly accent colors....

I'm working on finishing the Paradisa Chapter for my new Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guide (1980-90s) which will be merged with the existing 1949-80 2,200 page guide.

Here's a cut/paste of the table of sets... I skipped the "regions sold" column, since they were sold in all regions of the world...

    #1761 Paradisa Speedboat Set 1995
#1815 Paradisa Life Guard Set 1996
    #2870 Paradisa Barbeque Set 1997

There actually will be Disney Princess Legos coming out in 2012. Unfortunately they will be a duplo set not regular legos.
