    The one with the molded nose does not look like LEGO, same with the one next to it in the neighbouring column. I might be wrong and they could be from some obscure item but I've never seen them before.

    Hello all. I just introduced myself over in the appropriate thread, and now for my first act...I need a spot of help. We bought my son a couple tubs of bulk pieces to start his LEGO collection. I've figured out a number of sets, but not all of them. These pieces came built as shown. Can anyone pick any set numbers out from these?

    The bit at lower right appears to be from #31055 Red Racer.

    The top combo of pieces seems not to be from a set-- that Tail is likely part 6239

    From what I can tell no set came with the green wedge plates and red tail like that

    @KungFuKenny thanks for the info. I am not positive that one is from a set either. There are actually either three or four of those tails in the tub. I'll have to verify at home later. This is the only one that showed up attached to other pieces though.

    Interestingly, there are only 3 sets with that red airplane tail that don't have stickers applied to the piece ( #4858, #4615, and #70721 ).  The first 2 are from the early 2000's, and since the other 2 sets identified above are 2017 and 2018 I would guess #70721 which is from 2014.  The other alternative is that the owner neglected to put the stickers on in which case everything I have just typed is completely useless... ;-). If there are any Minifigures they would be more helpful.

    Thanks on the 60182 tip. You are right on that one. I actually already knew that one was actually in a second bulk buy from a garage sale last weekend as I have most of the camper still assembled. I just didnt catch this set of pieces as being the back of the truck. Unfortunately, that bulk purchase was accomplished by digging through a bunch of tubs of toys they had and picking out every piece of LEGO I could find. I got all of them and a bunch of Nerf darts for all of five dollars, but I am not sure I have any fully complete sets. For example, I have a lot of the camper in this set but I am 100% positive I dont have all of the tires and wheels for it. Nor do I have any of those minifigs.

    For the red wing, I had actually considered the Kai Fighter set, but the bulk buy it came from has included almost 100% of each set that was in it. That in mind, I do not have many of the other unique parts in that set that are very easy to pick out so it would be an anomaly for so little of the set to be present in this case. Maybe your first guess was right and that one wasn't from a set. But then that still begs the question as to why I have four of them and what else they could have come from.

    I am continuing to build out sets tonight to narrow down the remaining parts...just did part of #3827 (Spongebob's Pineapple) and am now on to #7119 (Twin-Pod Cloud Car).

    Under  that red tail fin is what looks like a Transparent Fluorescent Reddish Orange Corner Plate 3x6 Pc/Tr... which only came in #7257 Ultimate Lightsaber Duel, and that set doesn't have any of those other pieces.

    @NoRoadtrippin - I guess you've probably spotted this by now, but the two red inverted wedge bricks at the bottom of the assembly with the red tail fin are from the cloud car.

    @Brainslugged yep, figured that out last night. The Spongebob set also takes a couple of those and I was worried for a moment last night that I was short two of them until realizing they were with that red tail. Sounds like more and more pointing towards that just being something the previous owner built up.

    The Lightsaber dual is a possibility I do have one of the long dark gray pieces that form the arena as well as a lot of the 1x2 trans orange tiles. I definitely don't have 100% of that one though.

    Picked up 4 months worth of Booster Brick subscription boxes from a neighbor today. I live in a military neighborhood that is super good about giving extra stuff to neighbors. Posted that we were just getting back into LEGO and looking to buy and a lady put all this out for FREE for us this morning. I've already found some pieces that I was missing in some of these sets I am working on. Big score.

    Part 20 has only appeared in one set #6575 ( in that light grey color) 

    Part 16 may be from the same set (part #30285) if it is white (hard to tell color in your photos).

    15 is part 3474 which appeared in lots of airport and plane sets if I recall.

    @TheWebExpert1, a useful tip for identifying parts is to look for the part number on each individual piece you're unsure about. Nearly every part has one, although some are more difficult to see than others. You can then type that part number into Brickset or Bricklink and find what it's full name is, what sets it is found in, etc...

    As an example, 17 above likely has on the bottom the number 4476. You could then search Bricklink for that and find there is a 4476a and 4476b. There is a photo which outlines which one is A and which is B. In your case, I believe yours to be 4476b. That is found in 116 sets. I can't tell from the photo if your part is white or light gray. If white, it is found in 64 sets. If light gray, then it is only found in 6 sets. 

    As you identify additional pieces this way, you'll start to see some sets overlap in the "appeared in" lists. That's a great way to narrow down what set you might possibly have in your bulk lot. 

    I usually reserve this process for the more uncommon/unusual parts as they become more easily identifiable that way.

    Yeah half those parts are super common. Any reason they all appear to be white or light grey?

    I have tried VERY hard to see the numbers on the pieces, but they're just too small.  My camera won't focus that small, and the best magnifying glass I have doesn't help.

    Most of the parts pictures are light bluish gray.  I'm working on assembling parts for a Star Wars MOC.

    I have a pocket magnifier with a built in LED light that works ok for reading those numbers. Otherwise, I just use a flashlight and hold the piece so it reflects just right, then the numbers are easier to read. Now, if your eyes are “of a certain age” you might want to pick up some cheaters :)

    Ok, I've updated the three pictures I posted.  Most of the items have now been identified.  I got myself a pretty good magnifying glass, so I was able to see the numbers.

    The few which remain unidentified (circled in white) were ones where I could NOT find a number at ALL.  That's only FIVE pieces left!!

    I figured I'd post the update, in case anyone else was curious as to what piece numbers these are.

    Using BL terminology:

    10 and 11 are, respectively, 2463 and 2464, Brick Modified Facet 3x3x2 Top and Bottom.  Used in the 90's for Space, Western, and Aquazone themes.

    25 is 2607, Magnet Holder 2x3

    26 is 30554, Hinge Cylinder Locking 1x3 (no center hole)

    21 is a Freestyle Wheel, either 4259 or 6248 depending on the type of hole (Freestyle pin- or Technic pin-compatible)

    The brown slope, bones, and 6x10 dark green plate are from #9463 The Werewolf

    The Green, red, and dark green build is from #5868 Ferocious Creatures

    The big green chunk at top is from #5868 Ferocious Creatures; to the left of it, with some yellow, is from #5882 Dino Attack; in front of that, dark brown and bones, #9463 The Werewolf; green with red steering wheel, #4203 Excavator Transport; up top to the right of the big green piece, #70107 Skunk Attack; to the right of that are two pieces from the 2013 Star Wars Advent calendar- an AT-TE and a Naboo starship (I don't remember it's name).

    And the chunk in the middle is from #70004 Wakz' Pack Tracker. Work interrupted my research, so I didn't realize @KungFuKenny had beat me to it on some of these. :)

    Bit of a different one... but I've been lately on a classic castle kick. Having 'discovered' the alt-builds from LEGO's Building Ideas book 250 (from 1987 kids) I've been trying to figure out how they've built the barbecue/spitroast. What parts do you think make up the hog? (the red thing).




    An attempt has been made on this classic-castle.com article http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/articles/ideabook250c.html but I'm not convinced it's correct, but a reasonable attempt at reverse engineering it.

    @andhe - I was starting to come round to the idea that the reverse engineered version was pretty much correct. A 1x1 brick with studs on all sides with two 1x1 plates with clip to act as the legs. The head is just a 1x1 plate with a 1x2 plate.

    However... while the 1x1 brick with studs on 4 sides came out in 1985, the one and only time it has appeared in red is in this year's Star Wars advent calendar. So now I'm confused not only by the original pic, but also by the pic that has been reverse engineered.

    Thanks @Brainslugged I'd assumed it was a headlight brick due to the era as hadn't realised the alternative was available so early on (albeit in space sets not castle). It's possible it was a non-production part but even then the shape doesn't seem to match up. I'll keep playing around until someone comes up with a definitive answer (if possible!).

    Does anyone know what part this is: its a 1x2 rounded plate with a fixed X or + axel. I cant find a number but can see the LEGO  ID. Ill look again for the number

    Thank you. The color of Plastic Motor crank cross 4119475 is a very light grey not like the newer light blue grey. I bought a bunch of mixed LEGOs for extra parts & there was a battery compartment that it may work with. I can not identify this part either. The only marking i can find is L8. This part is a dark stone grey like a dirty grey if it helps.

    True, and the color is the old dark gray, before the switch to dark stone/dark bluish gray in the early 2000's.

    I'm liquidating my entire Lego collection so have had a lot of sets pass through my hands over the past few weeks.  I thought I might have posted something off without a piece.  I certainly didn't recognise it.  Excellent that you can specifically identify it, no idea how it got mixed up with my stuff.
