Tomorrow is my birthday. Maybe I’ll get lucky and it will be unveiled tomorrow :)

Perhaps it will be a reasonably realistic sweet shop. (aka shoppe) with the two leaked (may be fake) gingerbread people as signs/statues. A sweet shop is certainly something the village is missing and would work well with the others if it is done properly.

I could live with that, especially given the alternative seems to be a gingerbread house.

Happy birthday @bpk2300! I hope you get a WV leak or reveal for your birthday too!

I'd definitely be down for a sweet shop/shoppe. I could see modifying a gingerbread house into a sweet shop if that's what it ends up being.

A fully gingerbread house is certainly possible, although I do think it highly unlikely, namely if it is inhabited by 'real' gingerbread people as although lego does go a tad silly sometimes it would be such a drastic change and obviously would be met with significant criticism.

Perhaps instead of focusing on the gingerbread minifigure leaks we should consider what would look good next to a fire station? (just to clarify thats not a demand or meant to be a rude comment)

Say, heres a conundrum, would everyone prefer a fully fantasy gingerbread house or a realistic WV small country police station?

The gingerbread  minifigures could always be part of a GWP like we had the christmas box last year that opened up to show a home scene with several minifigures celebrating christmas...

Well it leaked, and it is a gingerbread house. I personally think it looks great, do we know anything about price?

EUR 89,99 in Germany for 1477 parts. So based on RRP's for previous years' Winter Village sets, USD 99?

Having seen it I quite like the look of the building but think I'll convert it into a shop or café. I'm finding the home of the Gingerbread family a little odd

Honestly, the house itself looks pretty fantastic.  If you're not into the gingerbread part, it shouldn't be too hard to de-candy it and turn it into a perfectly respectable normal house.  With an amazing toilet.

I really like it, I don't have a problem with more whimsical stuff being included in the winter village som I'm happy to display this as is next to Santa's Workshop.

As others have noted the basic house design is good and should be pretty easy for anyone wanting more realistic WV houses to just removed the small amounts of sweetie decorations.

This might have been a way to do another residential house. It certainly looks easy to convert. It gives me a strong Hogsmeade vibe, and I might buy it to use it as that.

As was pointed out by the first comment on the front page post:

EDIT: Ooooo just noticed the trans-pink and trans-purple glitter pieces for the window, they actually look nice and I think at least one of them is new.

I going to beg to differ a bit here. Can't say I'm keen at all really. Might be ok for MOC parts, but as it stands from the box art, it's all a bit strange.

Making sure you have seen this.

Cool. I am good with this. I have so many winter sets that I can not display them all at once. Putting up a bit more holiday North Pole  display gives me the chance to focus on a different facet of winter village.

It is a nice house, but it isn't a gingerbread house. To me, it looks more like a regular house decorated as a gingerbread house. Gingerbread houses tend to be quite simple. And that outside fireplace is just weird.

I think LEGO have hit an all time low calling a printed tile a figure. It is even smaller than the brick they called a figure in the Unikitty sets.

After watching Zusammengebaut's interview with Jamie Berard about this set, where he described the baby as "freshly baked", I think the reason they used a tile is so that it can come out of the oven like the other cookies!

I think it looks good... I particularly like the stockings hung by the chimney with care.

I know you all can find it easily via search, but here's the link to LEGO:

I do like the way it looks, like @CCC said above it looks more like a regular house decorated as a gingerbread house. This is going to make it tough as to decide which section to put it in. I guess it can just go in the neighborhood and the existing folks can just wonder at the strange cookie looking people that moved in down the street.

I actually had just that exact thought.  If you think of it as an actual gingerbread man COOKIE, the use of the tile is pretty clever.  I still don't think that I would call it a minifig though; doing so seems a little disingenuous at best to me.

Overall I like it, but the fireplace facing outwards is weird.  Is that a real thing somewhere?  I'll probably mod it and have it inwards facing.
  • vizzitorvizzitor Member Posts: 481
I really like it. My Lego Christmas displays have included the likes of Daleks, Darth Vader and Ned Flanders so a gingerbread family will fit in nicely.
Love the candy floss/cotton candy lamp shade and the bathroom with a toilet for the family to...deposit chocolate chips and milk, maybe?

Might have to try making a confectionery-themed dog and use the small gingerbread house #40139 as a kennel.

    @tamamahm, thanks for the tag!

A lot happened in the few hours I was away from checking the leaks page. Though, I feel we can officially say there were no leaks for this years WV as it was released by LEGO. Well played.

As I've previously stated, I'm happy with whatever the set would be. I do feel there are parts of this one that are a bit odd, but overall I like it. As others have stated, I'll have to think through where I'll be putting it in my layout.

For some reason, the part that bothers me the most is the baby stroller...

Are the trans-yellow pointy bits on the star of the tree new?

And do you think their bathtub fills will milk?

There's actually a grate in the middle, with fire on both the inside and the outside of the grate.  As far as I can tell, with the picnic table out there, it's intended to be a shared chimney, with the outside being some kind of yard/fire pit/activity area, and not realllllly connected to the inside other than the shared chimney.

Well, it already faces inwards. You'd just have to brick up the outside...

They are careful. They call it a figure, rather than a minifigure. They did the same for the single brick called Rick and all the other figures in Unikitty.

Regarding the fireplace, there are several Starbucks that have fireplaces that you can sit around both on the inside and outside of the building.

If one looks at this set as more of a fantasy "Christmas experience" building, they could set up the outside of this house with a few more tables, maybe a stall or two from the WV Market, and it would become a nice sitting/socializing area.

Ok, so clearly outside ovens to bake things like bread, or in this case gingerbread babies/cookies, are not a widespread thing.

Yeah... they know they are going marketing speak on them for sure then.  Not a move that I'm totally enamored with overall, feels like something someone at LEGO should realize is not a great look when they do weasel-wording like that.

It seems that the designer was Portuguese, so the outside oven makes total sense. It's a rural thing.

Not to be picky but wouldnt it technically be an icingblower since gingerbread houses use that for snow ;)

I think we can all agree that our existing Winter Villagers can learn to be a little more tolerant of those not like them... ;-)

Also I'm loving the "Home Sweet Home" doormat...

Yup. I am also seeing ski chalet style building/restaurant... fireplace outside, picnic tables... so, I think a revamp of it could also be very interesting in that sort of setting.

I've been tempted by previous WV sets but never bought any, because there is too much good stuff. but now, it even beats the cottage and is probably in the top 5 sets of this year.

nice addition to my WV; and quite chuffed actually; this can be the home for the Gingerbreadpeople running my Gingerbread Sweetshoppe across the street (@ingrambricks one). Let’s see!

will probably wait to get it till the Utrecht LS open; hoping for some opening rebates..(aka German-pricing, no BeNeLux extra charge).

This is a great set! I think i'll convert it to a sweets shop. Maybe put the gingerbread man out front as a mascot.

I also had an idea to take the Corner Garage set. 10264-1 Remove the two upper levels and place the roof directly on the first floor. This could become a village garage with a little holiday decorations. And that tow truck fits in perfectly.

For me personally, I think it's one of the best designs that Lego have come up with for this theme in terms of structure and design and the first 'must have' since Santas workshop came out.
As others have said, it's easily converted to a normal abode if the gingerbread house doesn't do it for you or even to add housing for the many citizens that have loads of places to shop but nowhere to live.
