Last time I checked this topic was when it counted 366 pages, currently we are on page 379. Sorry I am not really up-to-date on everything here on the forum.
    Anyway.....
Is there a [email protected] VIPpoints / program change new setup topic?!?
(I haven't found it so far)

I checked my Lego account today, my last purchase at [email protected] was end of last year, and I had/have lots of VIP points but everything changed.
    What is going on!?!
It used to be clear: 100VIP points was €5
So spend €100 get 100VIP points
Now 750VIP points = €5 and it all seems rather vague to me.

Is there anyone who can, and is willing to point me in the right direction?
I am sure people have discussed this here somewhere on the forum at some point.

    Thanks a bunch! Much obliged.

    @TheBigLegoski

Here are a couple of links-- a main page article explaining the new system and a thread discussing problems with the new system.  I just redeemed some points for coupons to use in store (supposedly automatically attached to your VIP card), so I will see how that works this week.

I have heard of others missing points, so I would contact CS about that...

    @TheBigLegoski

There's a little of it in this thread but the majority of it unfolding on July 10th (when it was launched) is here:
    https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/29985/lego-trialling-digital-vip-cards/p1
Towards the bottom of the first page and all 6 pages.

    It also continues here:
    https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/30448/what-has-happened-to-vip-lost-my-cash-and-cant-re-sign-up-to-vip-as-my-email-already-exists/p1

It's also on the main page, on a late in the day of launch article here (took some 7+ hours after launch for the article to be published and no other fan site had):
    https://brickset.com/article/44640/lego-launches-new-vip-program

and here where a nameless head of the program made comments about it including about a lesson learnt which simply doesn't seem to be:
    https://brickset.com/article/45119/the-new-vip-program-your-questions-answered
To be honest the comments on the article probably tell you more about the state of things than the "answers".

And lastly, they amalgamated shop/play/vip/CS/corporate areas silently under one lego.com without warning more recently and before they had fixed the existing bugs in the disjointed areas of the website making it more full of bugs than ever....
    https://brickset.com/article/45267/major-changes-at-lego-com

Now, nearly 2 months on I am still unable to access the vip rewards area from my tablet, place an order, have my cookie preferences respected or anything useful I might want to use the website for and the joke of it all is my most recent and sadly laughable experience two nights ago that I won't go into here.

If you have questions ask away in one of the threads above and I'm sure people will help catch you up. If you believe you have lost points definitely contact CS.

Hope it all works out for you. I've almost given up on lego.com altogether.

Re-collecting many of the 1989 Pirates sets (along with maybe a few others from the following years) is definitely way up there on my "when I have the money" list. Definitely some very happy memories of that set @KungFuKenny!

Thank you both very much for all the info and links. Much appreciated!
Status: I got plenty of catching up to do!

I have to say, whatever they did over at TLG to their websites has made it the worst it has ever been. I cannot place orders on their website, instead I have to call them. In so far as it does work (which it does not) the overhaul and redesign is just terrible.

I am not sure if I lost VIP points. I don't think so, but I cannot check my VIP point history etc. etc.

    Btw.
I just placed a small order over the phone today, and will be sent the 'gift with purchase' Hidden Side Juicebar set too.

Heard rumors of tree/foliage pieces and pearl gold fences at the PAB wall here in town... unfortunately the majority had been snagged but was able to fill 1 cup with the remainder plus some basic bricks...

BTW, I tried using VIP points for the first time since the new “improved” system... redeemed online, and lo and behold the “voucher” showed up in store — all in all more cumbersome but at least it worked to some degree.

8x8 plates! Nice catch, as are the golden fences. Keeping my fingers crossed for the contents of the PaB in Utrecht (to be opened soon), as well as the price for a cup (as even the German price is way higher than the UK one, and NL prices tend to be even higher as per [email protected]).

Status: pondering on the potential for an interesting new licensed Lego theme.

I just watched the 1st episode of the new series: The Dark Crystal, Age of Resistance. While watching it (it is a prequel based on the film by puppeteer and creative genius Jim Henson from 1982), I kept thinking how wonderful it could be if TLG developed sets based on it.
I have a couple of Lego Elves sets, sadly TLG ended that theme, and this could be a total hit, if done right, of a magnitude that will easily rival Harry Potter etc.
The minidolls TLG introduced look nice (although giving them wrist joints, and separate hip joints would bring them more on par with minifigs), though I think the theme could work too with minifigs instead of minidolls, or even better having both minidolls and minifigs in it (just like some sets from the second Lego Movie). One idea could be to use minidolls for the Gelflings, and minifigs for the Podling creatures for instance!?! Creatures such as the much taller Skeksis, which would require special head moulds for each character, could be designed perhaps using the smallest 'ball-joint on plates' techniques, and even include some cloth (sewn) fabric parts for their elaborate gowns. The Garthim anthropod like giant soldiers would also be a challenge to design. Over the last decade or so TLG introduced many new plant-like and other organic looking Lego elements, as well as a multitude of innovative building techniques in set designs that with all the 'know how' could make such a new theme absolutely fantastic.

Anyway.... just a thought I had and felt like sharing with you. I don't know where else to post it, and I don't know if it merits an entire new topic.

Put together a Toy Story Forky build at the request of my little cousins. There's a few bits I'd change if I had the right parts to hand but it's good enough for a half an hours building.

Was working in Sheffield, just around the corner from the LEGO store today. Popped in to see if there was anything interesting and saw the new CMFs, started feeling bags before one of the staff asked if there was any in particular I needed. She hunted for the Fox girl while I hunted for the explorer, each bag turned up another that went on my maybe pile that I planned to trim down to three and the fox girl. Ended up buying all 16 in one hit. Whoops!

Celebrated my birthday last night and my wife treated me to some shopping at the Disney Springs LEGO store. She’s a big HP fan (as am I) so I picked out two sets we’ll build together: #75947 , #75964. We’ll build Hagrid’s hut tonight.

Of course ended up with the Brickheadz bee and Hidden Side sets as promos. I’m excited as this is giving me a chance to experiment with Hidden Side before I go all in on the theme. They also tossed in #2000416, which is some odd little Serious Play polybag from 2012.

That’s a new Tag watch in the background that was a gift from her last night, as well. I’m certainly a lucky guy!

Another day, another issue with [email protected]: #75522 Mini Boost Droid Commander wasn't getting added to my order. So far nothing unusual. Testing my patience, but I have long given up hope that [email protected] will ever improve.
Chatted with CS and they manually added the GWP to my order. (I don't envy CS for having to address all the [email protected] **** that should simply work.) So far still nothing unusual.
However that the GWP then showed up as "Project Jaws" on my order did bring a smile to my face :)

    Bah! Bit of a bummer!
I just found out my phone is not compatible. So I won't be able to even download the app and play the Hidden Side game.
I was so curious to check out the Augmented Reality aspect of it, and how the game interacts with the actual Lego set once I have built it.
It seems that won't be happening now, because I am not going to buy another phone just to be able to install and play this Lego app.
I hope they will make this app available for many more different Smart Phones.
  • ModeltrainmanModeltrainman Member Posts: 1,225

It's not really their fault here, tbh. The app was developed using the Google AR utility best suited for this endeavor. Unfortunately, it's rather demanding on your hardware and thus limited to only the most recent generations. At least it is optimized for increasingly lower end devices in current and forthcoming generations. I don't think widening the the availability to existing devices with lower specs is an option.

That said, as an adult with no kids, I don't feel I'm missing anything without using the app. From all accounts, it's exactly the child friendly content I'd expected; which is perfectly fine, given the intended audience. I don't feel that completing redundant in app tasks would add anything to my enjoyment of the sets. I have Candy Crush for that. :p

I did not state nor imply that it is their fault. Nonetheless, thanks for the info. I had not given much thought to how demanding the AR app might be to your hardware. I bought my current phone last year, so I figured it would probably be OK. It runs on Android 8.0, should have a CPU that can handle it (or at least, that is what I just assumed).
Sure the sets are fine regardless of the app, and it does not diminish them in any way, however this app seemed like a fun gimmick, or perhaps it is more than just a 'gimmick' and adds a worthwhile extra dimension to Lego sets. I know I am not part of the target audience as an adult, still being curious, I would have liked to be able to experience first-hand what the game is like. It is interesting to see what TLG does with IT, and how this might change and/or enrich these toys.

Is there a fixed price for those PAB cups, and if so, what are the prices for these cups?
Never bought anything from the PAB wall in an official Lego store.
Really love those masonry bricks, especially in dark red.
Can't you put more of them in that cup if you stack the bricks? Or is that not allowed?
  • Lego_StarLego_Star Member Posts: 2,144
    @TheBigLegoski

Brand store in the UK - large cup £11.99 - keep with reuse sticker for next time 75p off that price small cup £6.99 keep with reuse sticker for next time 50p off.

Building the bricks inside the cup is allowed, lid should be fully closed though.

The most recent pics above were of cups that were grabbed to go. The people purchasing didn't have time to build to get more in.

I've heard this rule is largely dependent on the specific store you're filling up at. My local store is extremely gracious with the definition of a "closed" cup. I've had it where the lid is floating a plate or two width above the top lip of the cup. They gladly take it, tape it up, and send me on my way.

However, I've heard other stores have a rule that the lid has to fully snap on for it to be considered proper.

When ever my wife is with me when I am filling up a cup she helps and is always trying to push that limit. I will say that 90% of the time the lid barely touches the cup and depending on how they tape it we have to watch for any little bits that might fall out.

As @[email protected] said, it really depends on how the store is.
