Received the 75159 Death Star for only $196.69, was partially sealed, some bags opened. All figures appear to be there.

Is the attach images feature not working? I'm clicking on it and selecting files, but nothing shows up.

Bought this from local for 50€, do you think it was good deal?  Yellow robot and white ninjago dragon seem almost without missing pieces but others are mixed in boxes, I have boxes and manuals for evything.

It is first time buying something like this for me, what is the best way to sort it out? I have alot of free time next 2 weeks. Any sugestions appreciated.

@ersi- you really need to ask if it's a good deal?

If 5771 (upper left corner of your pic) is complete, you could sell that set ONLY, to make your money back.

& YES grab those other 2 deals!

If you weren't in Slovakia I'd do some trading with you, including that house 😉
  • ersiersi Member Posts: 229
    @gelkster
thank you, 5771 seems to be almost complete too, I will check everything tomorrow

www.bricklink.com.is a great resource for finding values of sets. They're posted here too, but I often find them misleading.

Above is the data for 5771 Hillside House.

I'm anxious to see what else you dig up in the future
  • ersiersi Member Posts: 229
Thank you, as you can see Im from Slovakia and there is not that much lego collectors, but Im mostly focused on brickheadz and harry potter
  • gelkstergelkster Member Posts: 927
Oh in that case, amass all the hauls you can, & then either trade or sell them for what you want.

If you have a contact in the USA I could send my sets to, which then could.get sent to you, I'd def. consider some trades there.

Does the doorbell for that 5771 house work properly?

Hashtags preceding set numbers seem to have gone out of fashion in this thread.

I know- I have to decide each time if I care enough to actually type the set number in to see what people are bragging about

It's such a great feature... and then people can't be bothered with an extra keystroke.

In my history of hashtagging any set(s) I list with an octothorpe, it has never led me to a pic or info of the set.

For example, I see THIS when I hashtag 8038. So....why would I use a feature that doesn't work for me?
  • gelkstergelkster Member Posts: 927
    I see this when I hashtag 42045.

This is the result of hashtagging/clicking on #42060.

    Get it?

^ I’m not sure what’s wrong there, but I do know that the page must be reloaded before it will work.

So, no one else’s hashtags work for you either? Does this work? #42060

Both links work for me— I know that it takes a few seconds after I use the # before it works.

All of your links are working for me, both on an iMac and iPhone.  Have you tried after reloading the page as @Astrobricks suggested?

Yeah, I believe the forum code doesn't convert number hashtags to sets until after the post is uploaded. Since the poster themselves sees the post as soon as it's posted, they don't see the version where the numbers link to a set.

Ok they all seem to be working correctly now, thx gang. Also #42075 (First Responder) should be #42074 (Racing Yacht)...although I may have a line on the former set in a probable upcoming trade 😉

I'd like to reserve the right to still post my "gets" from my local connection...I don't actively go looking in shops & such for sets, & he gives me some fantastic deals that I can't help sharing with you guys.

My local Barnes and Noble had 50% off on some older sets (not too many). I picked up 75210 Moloch's Landspeeder for only $20, and 31076 Daredevil Stunt Plane for $10.  had some Star Wars buildable figures too, (but I'm not a constraction fan), and a few other misc. sets from various themes (DC Super Hero Girls, Creator 3-in-1, etc).
The funny thing is literally right after I came home, I saw just2good posted a video on B&N LEGO clearance.

I don't know if I would have been able to take that deal, it feels almost like stealing.

(Who am I kidding, I would take it and ask if they had more they wanted to get rid of...)

They had advertised it as "some pieces still in bags, not sure if complete". I was expecting that they'd started building it and gave up... I was surprised to find everything completely sealed.

You MUST start from scratch! I don't think I could bear 'finishing off' someone else's build... I feel dirty just typing that.
Edit: great find by the way, and an entertaining story!

I'm thinking the same. Plus the sticker sheet is still in the box unused! This is the photo from the FB post....
.... a low res sliver of Technic goodness!
Plus I really like the B model hotrod. Will probably build both and then strip the motor out for use else where, possibly in a train MOC I want to work on.

Personally I'm just paranoid about my LEGO builds and I don't trust that anyone else put any part of the build correctly or completely.  The LEGO set designer could open the box and put it together in front of me themselves, and I would still have to disassemble and reassemble myself :P

If it's a set I found in a job lot but don't want and would prefer to list on eBay, I'll finish/repair someone else's build if it's a smaller set. Medium to large sets it can be better to dismantle the lot before checking all the pieces are right.

If it's a set I want to keep, that's 100% getting torn down.

My neighbours have me their kids pick-up truck to finish ,as I wasn't going to keep it ,i found where they stopped and why. Didn't fancy ripping as if stay till finish and do need to work to buy lego ,fun trouble shooting and finishing a big set of otherwise never get my paws on

Here's that long lost box from Canada I mentioned a few posts ago, but since it's not a "find" & I'm following the rules, I can't say what's in it.

Picked up this Kraft Velveeta promo set #1-3 for $5 at a local antique store today. It’s supposed to have 74 pieces, but I count 82. The inventory differs from the one listed on Brickset in several respects, but they’re all in really nice shape.

Yes, but can you still make nachos with them?

Not a super big brag but I was able to get the hidden side high school #70425 for basically 50% off, through BestBuy of all places. I had $70 in member points so it was @$65 after taxes. Should be here on Wednesday (free shipping). Going to try to mod it into a bigger Santa's workshop.

I guess it's not exactly a "find", but my last weekend my sister gave me several containers of used LEGO- more than five gallons! Or twenty liters, if you prefer. A few were from her brother-in-law; most came from one of her clients (she's a personal care assistant on the side), a young man of 20 or so. Both told her, "give these to your brother." Some are very scratched and dirty, and there's a lot of cat hair. Only a few minifigs, and a little Mega Bloks and K'nex (not much) mixed in, but hey... free LEGO! Lots of sorting and cleaning to be done.
