Yes, it was. The sticker has been on the Parisian Restaurant for some time - I think I posted it in the Retiring Soon thread earlier in the year. Just noticed the Carousel sticker this past weekend.

Damn... Maybe I should have taken advantage of the recent double vip points to buy the PR... I was leaving it for later this year...

    It's confirmed!
    https://brickset.com/article/45214/disney-train-arriving-soon!

I'm definitely going to be buying this, not sure how quickly (never a day one purchaser) but it will be mine! Mwahaha...

I like the look of the interior of the station, actually. Glad it has a few cute little details. £300 is not cheap of course but I've got some points, a gift card and hopefully some birthday money to come that I can put towards the purchase.

What pieces are used on the roof fencing? Looks really effective!

Yep you're right. New Elementary have posted their review already 👍🏻

The printed tile and micro build of the Disney Castle is a cute touch.

I would have preferred that the train and station were separate sets. They're both very nice, but like most of the D2C models Lego has released lately, they are out of my price range and display space. I also agree with a commenter that we'll see Goofy again in something else.

I’m excited to recreate memories of visiting Magic Kingdom as a kid— I’m already planning how to MOC the Mickey Mouse landscaping/topiary in front of the station

I was there a few weeks ago and as soon as I saw this set I thought "Gonna need two copies or a large BnP order to add the second wing to the other side of the clock tower!

Just need to persuade her indoors of the necessity of purchasing this plus #71040 to display!

Not sure im a fan of the amount of stickers there are considering the price. 52 in total.
  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,331
^ Yeah I'm very disappointed with the stickers given that they are almost all on regularly printed parts. I dont need everything printed but the main ones should be like the station sign and ones on the outside of the train.

But other than that a really nice set. I always think Lego should include two of the passenger cars but they didn't with Emerald Night, Hogwarts Express and so on.

Wife's not going to be happy, especially about the price but I love it and cant wait to add it to my collection (but will probably have to).

At this rate I'm going to need to buy another house just for my LEGO.

So CapnRex101's review of #71044 included a mention of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, which got me thinking. Disney Afternoon content has been making quite a resurgence recently, most evidently with recent announcements about the third season of Disney's current DuckTales reboot. With this in mind, one wonders if a wave of Disney Afternoon Lego sets might not be a possibility at some point. However, I'm not so much wanting to discuss whether or not it can or will happen, but what we might expect to see. Spoilers may be included if you're not all caught up on the current DuckTales.

    DuckTales 1987

    • Scrooge's Money Bin-Easily one of the most iconic locations associated with Scrooge McDuck, and the setting of many events within DuckTales. Could feature a number of characters, including frequent would-be invaders the Beagle Boys, Fenton Crackshell and his alias Gizmoduck, and others.
    • McDuck Manor-Another recurring location from the original DuckTales, and a good potential place to include some other supporting characters such as Webby, Mrs. Beakley, and Duckworth.

    TaleSpin

    • Sea Duck-Baloo's iconic cargo plane from the series, and undoubtedly a fun set piece. Would presumably come with most of the main cast-Baloo, Kit, Rebecca, Molly, and hopefully Wildcat-in lieu of a Higher for Hire building, which might be a bit much to hope for unless these sets sold crazy well.
    • Don Karnage's airplane-a more likely prospect than the massive Iron Vulture airbase for TaleSpin's resident Sky Pirates. The set would undoubtedly come with Karnage and a couple henchman, and maybe even a Shere Khan figure reflecting their occasional alliances.

    Goof Troop

    • Goofy's House-probably the most we'd expect to see from Goof Troop, given it's sitcom setting versus the adventure/superhero theme of various other series. Would presumably include Goofy, Max, Pete, Peg, P.J., Pistol, and maybe their pets from the series.

    Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers

    • Ranger Plane/Ranger Wing-While the Ranger Plane is the more iconic of the two Rescue Rangers aircraft, it's signature big red balloon seems like it would make things tricky, so the Ranger Wing might be a safer bet. Would come with Chip, Dale, and Gadget minifigures, a big fig of Montery Jack, and a microfigure Zipper-unless we're just going to chuck scale out the window. The question of scale also has me wondering if we could expect anything else, since villains like Fat Cat would be most appropriate as brick-built constructs rather than minifigs on the same scale as the Rangers.

    Darkwing Duck

    • Thunderquack-Darkwing's jet, which would doubtless include a Darkwing version of Launchpad McQuack as pilot. Might also feature a villain or two for play purposes; probably some members of the Fearsome Five.
    • Rat Catcher-Darkwing's motorcyle with sidecar, the latter of which would make it ideal to include his daughter Gosalyn. Could probably throw a couple more villains in here as well. Honestly, apart from the two vehicles I'm not sure what would be iconic enough to make into a set, except maybe Darkwing's lair or house.

    DuckTales 2017

    • Sunchaser-Scrooge and co.'s cargo plane, which would probably be an easier sell than an update of either the Money Bin or Scrooge's mansion ideas from the original series. Could come with a variety of characters, undoubtedly including at least Scrooge, Launchpad, and two or more of the kids.
    • Donald's Houseboat-Another iconic vehicle from the series, which could include any nephews not included in the Sunchaser as well as Donald and various other supporting characters.
    • Spear of Selene-Della Duck's spacecraft, undoubtedly featuring the heroic pilot herself and maybe a foe or two. Honestly, there's quite a bit of appeal for architectural bits from the new show, but given Lego's thing for vehicles it's hard to know what we might see if Disney ever wakes up to this money opportunity.

    Minifigure Series

    • An idea that I've touched upon elsewhere, but that has even more appeal in the framework of a Disney Afternoon set line. What better way to incorporate more characters without jacking up individual set prices than with a Minifigure series or two? It'd be a great way to include some supporting characters for those who want them, while those who are content with the roster from the sets don't have to worry about it.

My Lego List just got upended! I watched them build DLand in my youth and the Station was the first thing welcoming you to the Magic Kingdom and how can they do this to me when I finally had prioritized The List and was going to add the Hidden Side train to my Halloween display and ask Santa for the Corner Garage? Aaaaarrrggghhhh

Has anyone here bought the new Disney train station? I haven’t seen anyone discussing it. When the castle came out, there were lots of discussions on that one.
  • daewoodaewoo Member Posts: 849
I bought it on Sunday.  It's in the build queue.  Don't know when I will get to it.

Haven't bought it yet cause the castle is still in my buy queue, and now that this might be an ongoing theme I am worried that the castle will be retiring sooner than a lot of people expected it to in order to make room for new, large Disney sets (or make room for the Train, tbh).  Of course, the expected retirement time for the castle that I saw from people was 10 minutes before the end of the universe, so any retirement would probably be before the time most people expected it :P

  • PyrobugPyrobug Member Posts: 179
I haven't yet. I was planning on going in a little while but I was hoping to find out what the gift was so I could know whether or not it was worth going to the store for. The only information that I've been able to find is that the Brick Fan said someone told him that it's just a Disney Series 2 collectable minifigure. I wish there was something more concrete to go on. If that's the case, I'm not going to bother.
  • PyrobugPyrobug Member Posts: 179
I came up to the store and yep. It's just a series 2 minifigure. At least I got another Sally which is one that I wanted a few of for the black plant pieces. Probably not worth the trouble though unless there's something else you were planning on buying.

According to the article the images are from a retailer which I believe makes it OK to link to until LEGO say otherwise

The largish brick built Olaf is nice, although should have been "UCS" R2 or BB-8 sized!

I like the new minidoll size Olaf too.

Me too... also the birch tree pieces look too be printed and could come in handy for forest MOCs.  The treehouse has a bit of an Elves feel to it.

That's interesting. There was an article about the new sets by @CapnRex101 on the front page for a couple of hours but it has now been pulled.

Also the tweet has been removed, but there is still a link to the tweet:

So I guess LEGO has asked for them to be removed.

  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
LEGO contacted another website to request their removal so we took them down to avoid an unnecessary argument.

Images are generally available for publication when disclosed by retailers but Disney sometimes takes exception to that, unfortunately.

on the takedown I seem to remember that LEGO were really strict on Incredibles 2 sets too (supposedly because of Disney) despite those sets being found in several stores at the time.

Even Promobricks, who got kicked out of the Lego Recognized Fan Media program for publishing leaks, and has since published any leaked pictures it can put its hands on, has taken down the Frozen 2 pictures. That must have been a *very* strong worded letter from TLG/Disney.

They write very firmly worded cease-and-desist letters.  And nowadays, atleast on the US sites, it's very easy for Google, Facebook and Twitter to take things down immediately and sort it out on their own timetable, rather than defer to reasonable humans to ascertain with independent information what exactly is occurring and whether it violates terms of service.
