Missing tag

It seems like the BB-8 polybag #40288 really should have the tag “BB-8”.

    The 'BB-8' tag really only refers to sets containing BB-8 minifigures. Hopefully those people searching for every set that features BB-8, at any scale, would find them all using the search bar.

    I take advantage from this thread to notify that the set 31089 seems to miss the "10 Wide Car" Tag.

    BTW, is there a proper place where to report missing tags in sets?

    Another question: is there a more affordable and flexible way to search by tag than adding a "|Tag" after the searched word?

    ^ This thread is where you want to go if you notice inconsistencies in the database. If you want to get Huw's attention, use @Huw to ping him. These comments will probably be moved to that thread.
    As for searching by tags, you can use the drop-down list at the top of the page, same way you select year, theme etc.

    Thanks, got it!

    About searching among tags, I'm not sure I've understood: in the dropdown list I can see "all", "sets", etc... but not "tags". Besides, in search results page, I can't see any "tag" filter. Am I miss anything?

    My apologies, you're correct. I could have sworn there was a list there before. I wonder if it has since been removed.

    The tag list is only shown when you've selected a theme or year because otherwise there'd be thousands of entries in the drop-down.

    This could be a nice addition to the search box, in the search suggestions tags appear with very low priority, that means they don't appear unless other matching elements are very few.
    A "tag list" page could be very useful too.

    Tags are often a way better way (pun intended!) to find something in the database, especially group of things (using set's name often results in incomplete results), so that when I have to do these kind of searches I often start from a specific set and then click on a tag in its tags list. Search among tags and a tags page would be much more comfortable for that.

    The tags do already appear when you start typing one in the main search box.

    About the search, tags appear but in my experience only if other results matching with the searched word are very few.
    Besides, often I don't know the exact word(s) that define a tag, and that's why a search among tags would be very useful. The tags page is for the same purpose (using the browser search inside the page), but requires one more step (access to the tags page instead than directly using the search box in the home page).
    Anyway for me the tags page is enough (especially because I can add it to my menu)!

    Yes that is true. I don't know if I can fix that somehow without resorting to a huge long list. I'll think about it...

    What about to add a single tag result (if matching) among the partial results? And clicking on the blue stripe containing the word "Tags" access a specific tag search.
    Anyway I think that the easiest way to obtain a search among tags is to add "tags" among selectable targets in the search dropdown list.

    Tags apply to all of the other options so it wouldn't make much sense :)

    #40356 LEGO House Exclusive Minifigure 2019 doesn't have a 'Lego House' tag.
    'Lego House' is in both the set name and the subtheme, however it would be nice if it was also listed when searching for that tag.

    Not sure how the sets get updated but should https://brickset.com/sets/5006085-1/Buildable-2x4-Red-Brick have the Gift With Purchase tag? Also, it still says "This set has not yet been released"

    The 'Book With Minifigure' tag is rather useful, but seems to only go until 2017. Could the following books also be tagged?

    The Gift With Purchase tags need to be brought up to date.  At least the following are missing: Year of the Rat, 20th Anniversary Ben Kenobi, Hidden Side Dragster, 2019 Christmas Tree, Mini Gingerbread House, 40222 Christmas Build Up, 40222 Snow Globe, 5004468, 40083, 3300002, 40362, and maybe more.  Thanks.

    #3300002 Holiday Set 2 of 2 does not have the 'GIFT WITH PURCHASE' tag.
    I came across this when browsing the Seasonal GWP's, which lists #3300020 Holiday Set 1 of 2, but not 2 of 2. 🙂

    Microscale tag. This tag has been applied to lots of the winter village sets, Sesame Street, 8186, Pirate Chess, 31105, 31068, 40305.

    Is this because there are a couple of parts (like a tile representing a set) are included, therefore the set is flagged as microscale even though it is minifigure scale?

    Also ship in a bottle. While the ship is microscale, the object is about life scale.

    I think I asked a similar question about Bookshop and was told it was because of the tiny airplane stuck in the tree.

    It isn't a microscale plane, it is a toy plane at minifigs scale. 

    Plus microscale is used inconsistently. For example, doesn't Big Bang have a model rocket on the shelf? But that doesn't have microscale as a tag.

    Maybe I remembered wrong. Bookshop doesn’t have the microscale tag now, and I can’t find the post I was referring to.

    I've always assumed the tags are meant to apply to some aspect of a set, not necessarily the set as a whole, to help you find sets that might be what you're looking for.

    Now that there is a Technic subtheme called "Licensed" in the database, shouldn't every Technic set with a license be put in that subtheme?

    Yes -- tags are very much a constant work in progress so it's inevitable that they'll never be complete. Which ones is it missing from?

    Not sure if this would be the correct place, but does anyone know why #75303 is considered a UCS set? I know a couple of leakers speculated that it was supposed to be the May 4th UCS in 2021 but that never ended up being the case. As far as I could tell it was never even listed on any retail website either, further adding to the confusion. 

    Maybe someone has further insight?
