I was in the Lego store in Salt Lake City last week, and found the following torso in the 'Build a minifig' bins. I got three of them, as I've not seen it before (I only know of the two CMF baseball player torsos).

Having now looked it up on Bricklink (the image above is from there), it shows the torso part as 'new' and doesn't list it as being in any sets.

Does anyone have any idea where it's come from? Lego surely can't have printed a new torso just to stick into BAM bins?

There have been quite a few minifigure parts show up just for BaM bars lately, think it started last year, I’ve got some hats and hair pieces that haven’t been in any sets yet.

I wonder if perhaps they're test-run pieces? Someone got smart and said, "Hey, instead of trashing these, we could sell them in BAM bars!"
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,833
@Paperballpark there have been quite a few BAM only parts in the USA, and there is photo evidence here https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/19310/us-bam-bar-contents#latest

Yup new torsos, a new shield, recoloured parts. It's all happening over at the B-A-M bins.

Up until now I think the new designs have mainly been colour switches of existing parts/designs so exciting to see exclusive designs appearing.

Found 2 of 2x4 and 1 of 2x6 in what appears to be "Pearl Light Gray" in a job lot I recently bought.  Bricklink lists the parts in this colour, but doesn't list what set(s) they are found in.  All have a sort of marbled effect on the surface.  Any ideas?  Pictured next to a 2x4 in Light Gray (far right) for comparison.

Someone more in the know on this stuff may be able to confirm, but are these really light Grangemouth bricks?

I don't think so.  The underside of the 2x4 bricks suggests a more modern mould.

    Lego or not?

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
@hazz78 most of sellers that have 100 or more seem to be in the UK which would suggest a localised source. Perhaps a lego store or LUG project?

Thanks. Never seen those bits before. Looking at the sets they are in, I have at least 5 of them, but clearly I have never opened and built them :-)

They’re the two sides of a CV joint, right? So why did one of them (according to BL) come into existence 10 years before the other?
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,275
Probably the "newer" one is a revised design.

    K'nex I think.

no idea and they can not fit into anything Lego

they look like best lock brand to me.

the monkey i think is playmobile as i think i have another one no ideas on the rest.
Again I am sorry for the crummy photos. computer camera is my only working camera right now so really junky photos.
    Cheers!
Your guesses are correct about the K'nex and Best-Lock parts as far as I can tell. The little clear circle bit looks like a bingo chip. Certainly nothing I recognize as LEGO in any of these pics.

Found a loose battery cover, but can't find what it's meant to go with?

  • BobflipBobflip Member Posts: 728
Ahhh, yes... battery *lid*, not cover. Good spot!

I have little experience with Technic sets but I got a #42006 in a lot I bought. I have an issue. The instructions show the (tan) connector sliding completely into the driving ring (red), then the gear (dk grey) slides onto the driving ring. The problem is the gear forces the connector out causing the gear to not turn when assembled. Am I missing some technique?

  • gelkstergelkster Member Posts: 927
Is it right around step 22 or 25? Try turning the dk bley gear around

  • TheMaker37TheMaker37 Member Posts: 496
@gelksterI have tried all the configurations it needs to sit flush with the driving ring with the hollow side of the gear it all fits until the connector is slid in.

I got several sets or parts of sets from a family member, but I can't identify this one.  I think it must be Star Wars but I can't find it searching through everything.  The other sets are 2011-2013.  Thanks for the help!

^Correct, but the new member should've posted this in the Set Identification Help thread: https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/513/master-thread-help-identifying-parts-sets-and-minifigs#latest

Thats one of the easiest sets to ID based on the printing patterns alone ;)

I’m assuming all of these pieces are from the same set, but I could be wrong. Can anyone guess what it could be based on the lime green colours and stickers?

    Many thanks in advance!

By the way, I’m amazed at how nothing remains a mystery on this thread thanks to the wealth of knowledge from our fellow Bricksetters.

^ They may not all be from this set, but the stickered parts and mudguard arches look like they are from #9443

The only set I can find that has both the inverse 2x2 roof tile AND the 2x2 round “boat stud” (piece 2664) in lime green is Cole’s Tread Assault #9444.  I agree that the other pieces are from the Rattlecopter and the Wrecking Ball.  Looks like whoever you got the pieces from was a fan of early Ninjago sets!

I'd have guessed World Racers (good guys have lime green & white vehicle parts) or Ninjago. The printing suggests a snake scale pattern. Often If I'm unfamiliar with a part origin, chances are it's from the NinjaGo series; I'm not well schooled in that line.

@GeordiePaul- personally when I pick up a mixed lot w/ unique parts that stand out,  I Iove researching them to see what sets theyre in, then determining whether I have the subsequent parts (& desire) to build the set(s).

I knew you guys would pull through with an obscure set that I’d never have found by myself. My wife picked up a couple of cases of Lego at Once Upon A Child here in Connecticut and the only pieces that seem to be from the same set are these lime green ones. There’s a bunch more of them but the ones in the photo seemed to be the easiest to identify a set from.

Time to download the instructions and see if it’s all there amongst the random pieces :-)

    Much appreciated guys!

After looking at those suggestions, I’m guessing it’s #9443 and there’s not even 10% of it here I bet. Oh well, more pieces for my three year old and seven year old boys to ‘MOC’ with. Huzzah!
  • datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,832
@GeordiePaul you might want to check out Savers. The one down here in Orange, CT often has Lego for great prices. Mostly random bits, or sets scattered among several bags. That's where I picked up the Death Star for $56 that got me back into Lego.

@GeordiePaul- there's a thread for posting awesome scores/finds/hauls when your wife picks up "a couple of cases of LEGO"!
  • GeordiePaulGeordiePaul Member Posts: 599
@datsunrobbie Thanks for the heads up! I think Orange is a lite too far for me to travel at the minute, but I checked for local Savers (I hadn’t heard of that store before) and it appears I have one in the next town over from me in Manchester, so I appreciate the info!

@gelkster When I say ‘cases’, they certainly weren’t big ones. I’ll post a pic of one of them later. One had loose parts, the other an assortment of base plates. Some of the loose pieces were fake Lego too, so I immediately trashed them :-)

I bought a box of loose bricks - without building instructions. there are these parts that are a bit assembled - can anyone tell me where they came from? thank you in advance for your help.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
The silver / black / red one is from #8353

The red chevron vehicle base thing was from Jack Stone sets #4609 #9305. Same with the black one - it's from two different Jack Stone sets #4607 #4622.
