Been quite busy lately with work etc but built the small little Toy Story 4 set today!

I also cut through a live electrical cable today which was quite the experience I must say. Scary, scary shit. Always make sure things are unplugged!

^ Very glad to hear you survived to tell the tale @Basty. Nice build aswell as the fact those rollercoaster pieces could come in very handy.

For those in Australia, there is actually free shipping at Shop@Home until July 16. Good opportunity to spend VIP points for me...

Well update for me is that my mostly used lego sets buying spree has mostly ended. Worth it still but most likely i will have to keep my lego wallet closed til my birthday in march 2020 with a few sets for christmas this year i guess. Just sets totals up to 95,466 pieces. Got a bunch of different themes, not brickitect level of variety but probably got a lesser version of their 80% of recentish themes.

Oh and i sorted through my childhood boxes of misc lego pieces. Fun times. Now if only i could find that small box with all my lego zamor balls and lego flags and tents. Really don't know where it could be, problem with having lego in more than one place in recent times i guess.

Only lego set i feel i want right now is the new black manta one but damn it its only the completionist within me that wants it really (mind you i mixed a great lego ninjago skybound lighthouse deal, it got snatched from under me man). Oh yeah i also made the decision to avoid more lego star wars sets and most super hero related set as after my dark age i just brought everything and anything that appealed to me. Still don't think i will ever collect just a few themes though, would of done the same as i did even if i went back to the end of my dark age probably just maybe less sw and marvel. The underwater collection is going well though and i am almost ready to build up to biggish moc making.

On a somewhat related note man wuxia and xanxia gets no lego moc love. Gonna have to figure out some mocs for these great foreign novel masterpieces.

Final count 471 sets (419 different), 1308 minifigures (897 different)

All in all 2 years or so after the end of my dark age, my childhood savings are pretty sparse now and i probably spent more than i should of in the passion but i didn't just buy big lego sets that i have found i kinda get bored of so its a win in my book and i did want all the sets (just maybe not all at once :P). Got a lovely collection customised to my liking so thats the only thing that matters, now i just need to make my imagination a reality using all this lego. Though to be honest i think my inner child just wanted a big lego collection and the adult me wanted the options it brings with it so yeah...

Happy building everyone, don't drain those wallets too much lol (especially people in their early 20s like me, don't follow my example ha).

Status is home alone for the first time in a long while, no kids, no wife and ambitious plans to reorganise my Lego life........

Alternatively i might just settle down on the sofa with a few beers and the remote

    @brickedin
Those are the moments to do those LEGO tasks that make a bit of a mess, uninterrupted, before returning things to an orderly state so no-one will even notice that you made a mess in the first place.

Perhaps you'll even find something you forgot you had but one thing is for sure, future you will thank you for making a start on those ambitious plans. You could always put the tv on in the background and still have the beer! :o)

Finished the shelf plan. As if it will go this smoothly but one can hope. Found some rare sets so my buying hiatus broke before it even started... Still not gonna hit 100k bricks in terms of non loose bricks though, at 97,192 parts now though.
Gonna force myself to take that needed break for my wallet. Final numbers: 475 sets (422 different), 1315 minifigures (902 different)

By the way not flexing just what my autistic brain wants to post as it likes numbers, i would post it on the lego reddit but what a boring submission that would be and i moan in my head about boring submission like many so yeah not gonna be a hypocrite :P.

Watched TLM for a second time and suddenly saw eastereggs that i missed on first run.
Also: 75192 finally managed to get to final shelf space. Was a royal PITA to get the efferman stand on it without someone helping.

@thehoarder we were just noticing the similarity between some recent posts on the forum and the posts of a former member. The style and content was strikingly similar, enthusiasm is always a good thing and shouldn't be discouraged... ...except in the case of @LEGOFan2 !

Was able to take the largest set off my wanted list today, #75192.  Bought used for a good price, so I don't get to enjoy building it (don't have the time anyway) but it will display nicely.

@thehoarder I think it's mostly in jest, my friend. @LegoFan2 was post-banned for spamming and, more significantly, his apparent lack of maturity which is undesirable on an adult Lego forum. There's nothing wrong with the way you write in your posts, but it just happens to be similar to how LegoFan wrote.

quick question. why are you comparing me to him? i do not see why it matters if i go on at similar time that this person did. sometimes i go on at 4:30 as i like to get an early start and then start working.
    Because:
    - you write posts in a very similar way, such as not being able to capitalize words correctly.
    - you happen to be active and stop being active at exactly the same time as a user that is banned and can no longer use the forum to post. It is strange that they hadn't logged in for a while but happened to log back in at a time you were compared to them. And they stopped looking at the forum at the same time as you stopped looking.
    - you are interested in display cases, similar to them.
    - you are both from CT (you just posted elsewhere about being in Danbury).
    - you keep emphasizing that you are new to the forum, which makes it look like you are trying to hide that you are maybe not so new.
    - you claim to have had the opportunity to buy a rare sealed figure for $10 but didn't have any money on you. He also made some strange claims.

Lightening the mood. I was in Liverpool for work, which is really  close (in my mind) to Manchester Discovery Centre! Dropped in on route to a hotel in Birmingham for the night and nabbed a few polybags.
Been looking for Ironman for ages, picked up a couple for trades. City Space seems apt for the 50th anniversary of the moon landings and the Batmobile was £2 at the till, so I grabbed two for my stash.

Presumption of innocence before proven guilty, remember. And I doubt it would be difficult to resolve this. @Huw - are you able to compare users' IP addresses to confirm that thehoarder is not a sock-puppet account for LegoFan2?

IP is 'Internet Protocol' address. Very simply, it identifies an internet user to the site being visited, it's partly how sites remember your visits. When I ran a website, I could see statistics of repeat visits, roughly where users were located globally, where on the net they had come from (google search, hyperlink etc.) and if they left via a link on one of my pages... all of this information was based on the user's IP address.

Yeah, now I'm really curious. @Huw ? Can you do it?
  • Baby_YodaBaby_Yoda Member Posts: 1,295
Yeah, it's been a while now, so I'm inclined to agree. But it's Huw's decision, ultimately, and we should respect whatever he decides to do (or not do).

In other news, have any Australians ordered from Shop@Home recently? I ordered a set Monday and it's going through Toll rather than the regular Australian Post. I wonder if Lego switched to it for faster deliveries, as the parcel seems to be getting here exceptionally fast.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@Baby_Yoda, they changed to Toll some time ago & it's not great, it's meant to be 3-5 days for Adelaide deliveries to arrive, I've only had one get here in that time frame, most are 9-12 days. They also will not readily reattempt delivery if they miss you (considering the best they can give for delivery time is sometime between 8am & 8pm, & a lot of the time not on the day they specified, it is BS), hope your nearest Toll center isn't to far from your home & don't even try to organise a delivery to an alternate address, they'll either refuse outright or manage to get it wrong. Overall, yeah, AusPost sucked, but Toll suck much more.
