Yay, my first brag though not a massive one. I managed to pick up a 7946 Kings Castle from Argos this evening for £52. Sadly no figs as some dirty rascal had pinched them and returned the set but hopefully the rest is all there (building it now :)
Quite happy to pick up this discontinued set at substantial discount despite lack of minifigs!
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Congrats LIT! That's the first time I've heard of minifigs being stolen that were not Star Wars. At least you'll be able to replace the figs for cheap. =)

Picked up the following all NIB for $645:
Incredible. That 10123 Cloud City is probably worth 1000 USD alone.

I can't really say I have any finds that are comparable to some of the finds on this thread. So the only thing that stands out for me right now is something that is not that recent, nor that major:

One time opening a S5 minifig package (dwarf) with an extra 1-bladed axe. For the dwarf it was a great find, 2 axes! For me, not as exciting, but cool still.

Just scored another! Imperial Star Destroyer NIB for $325 USD.
Picked up the following all NIB for $645:

    Best part of that deal!

I picked up a decent portion of a 7965 for 11 bucks, minus minifigs. Given my grey, bley, and white part counts, it is 90+% complete. I had randomly gone into a local salvage store, they had a random assortment of open/destroyed lego for 50% off. As I was in the store they put up 60% off signs. I found a 2.5 gallon ziplock of legos just tossed on a shelf. Here's hoping the mostly there police station makes it to 80% off so I can afford it. haha.
It is sad though, I went back yesterday and they had a trashcan in the blocked off toy isles. I'm willing to bet the empty boxes and loose legos will/did get tossed. I did my best to put the loose bags/pieces to the right box, when I was there previously.

Finally home (@ 10pm) after leaving at 6am this morning. Drove 3.5 hours to pick up a craigslist find and hit up 3 of the 4 Chicago area LEGO stores to fill 10 holiday boxes. I had fun but was a tiring day.

Here is the $300 craigslist find that I'm hoping turns out to be worth it.

And here is my 11 grab bags at just over 10 lbs. No sets just PAB stuff and what looks like some random friends pieces but I figured the variety of pieces will help in some of the stuff I want to build for my city/train layout.

    image

And here are my 10 holiday PAB boxes and the one large cup I decided to fill since the 3rd store I went to had more interesting stuff that I wanted and I only left myself 3 boxes.

    Some of the interesting stuff:
    Tiles - 1x2 lime, 1x4 brown, 1x4 green, 1x8 red, 2x2 yellow, 2x2 dark tan
    Stuff in Tan - plates 1x4, 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10, 4x6. bricks 1x2 2x4
    Light bley 2x2x4 slopes
1x2 slopes in blue green and yellow
1x2 bricks in white, yellow, lime, light blue, blue, green, light bley with grooves.
1x2 clear bricks and smoke bricks.
    White - 1x2x4's, 1x1x4's, bricks in 1x10, 1x8 1x2 1x2 with handle 1x4 arch
    Clear 1x2 plates and 1x1 2/3 slopes

and lots more usual stuff. I got quite a few of the 1x8 and 2x2 plates but they're all stacked in the centers of some of the cubes. One store had axles and wheel hubs but no tires and another store had the doors for 2x3x2? cargo boxes but no boxes.

Good day overall. Now I'm going to be spending the rest of my life cleaning sorting and building the CL find and breaking apart those damn blocks of bricks and plates.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^That sure is a whole lot of loose bricks! Make sure to separate the old bricks from your newer pieces while you're in the process of cleaning & sorting.
  • littletokilittletoki Member Posts: 519
@graphite - very nice haul! I'd be all over that Space Simulation Station!

And whatever time you have estimated for cleaning, sorting and building - triple it. :D
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I dont really "estimate" the time. This is just ongoing activity for me. I just finished my last bulk lot of dismantling, cleaning, sorting, verifying parts lists, ordering replacements and selling off sets that I wasn't keeping.

I'm going to work on breaking down the PAB stuff and inventorying it so I can get an estimate of its [email protected] PAB value while I'm in the cleaning stages of the lot I got. It really is amazing how much the online PAB prices are compared to what you can get at a store. I paid $7.50 per holiday box and if all you put in it is 1x2's you can fit like 572 which is $85 worth from [email protected] If you filled a box with the translucent 1x2's it is $200. I just find that crazy.

Not a "Great" find but I went to one of the local WM and found 2 S4 CMF in the box that the polybags were in back in toys. Lol Got the Hazmat guy and the Soccer Player. Was hoping for one of the fastasy ones (frankenstien, werewolf, etc) but no such luck :) Still happy I found them!!

^ Nice find. I'm surprised they still have series 4.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
I was shocked actually! Lol I saw the bright orange bag and wasn't sure which series it was, since I did just get back into Legos I have only been around for S6. This was the same WM I found S5 on clearance for $1.50 each about 3 weeks ago.
  • SweetLoganSweetLogan Member Posts: 34
^ My CMFs consist solely of S5 from WM sales. I've looked everywhere on the off chance they had a few S4, pretty much just for the hazmat guy. For some reason, I want him. haha. But, nifty find!
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
Speaking of Series minifigures and Walmart... considering every Walmart is structured somewhat the same, where in the world are the Series figures located? Went to Walmart yesterday and I swear I went through the entire store, but could not find a single Series minifigure. It doesn't help the employees didn't know where they were either.. only thing they did know was that they had them somewhere.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
I find the current ones usually in the Lego area of Toys, usually near the Ninjago stuff. But the S5 was on the clearance aisle my local WM has.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
From experience at the WMs near me they have no set organized structure. I've seen CMF on the end cap side hangers of the lego aisle and a few aisles away in toys as well as in the flat shelf boxes like the polys/ninjago stuff in the middle of the lego stuff as well as in a non lego aisle. Just have to wander around sometimes.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
Thanks for the help you all! I guess I just need to wander a bit more when I'm at WM next time.

@graphite, nice find by the way posted above. Looks like you got yourself a steal.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ we'll see. The cleaning process has started but I need to pick up a few more containers so I can sort properly before going through parts lists.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^For $300, just the parts alone seem to be worth it. Any set that you can make out of the parts would seem to be an added bonus. Have you weighed it yet, how many pounds is it?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I haven't weighed it yet because my little mailing scale can only handle 10 lbs. I'll actually go break it up and do that now =)
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^^ appears to be ~25 lbs not including the Racers ramp things, 2 boat hulls and of course the manuals. So the $/lb isnt that great but hopefully the sets that come out will be.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
@graphite, No, not the best pound to dollar ratio. But... Yes, definitely if some of the sets, or even just the minifigures, that come out of it are worth something, then the whole cragislist adventure was worth it. Hope it works out for you! Best of luck!

Had my best deal this year, saw an add on Dutch Marktplaats with the title : "lego kasteeltje" (small lego castle) but not where other Lego was advertised and the picture showed the Medieval Market Village so I made a bid and he accepted. Just arrived and it turned a to be MISB for only € 45,00 !!

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,943
^Sounds like a lucky gamble... Glad it worked out for you though! It's a great set.
  • ErnstErnst Member Posts: 133
It was a gamble, but even if it had been used with some pieces missing I would have been happy with it.

I attended Bricks by the Bay last week, and was able to pick up 2 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker 10195, for $220 a piece....not a steal, but still a bargin. I was Super excited about it, because I didnt have any, and noticed how much they have climbed in price the past couple months. I should easily double my investment by Christmas, but I'll probably hold on to these for a bit longer than that. =)
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^Retired, quickly rising in price, and both NIB for $220 a piece? Great deal, easily double your money by Christmas like you said.
  • PepperPepper Member Posts: 91
Not that great, but I found the new 2012 SW BPs for 13% off MSRP yesterday at Kmart. Bought one of each.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Gratz! I didn't see ANY Legos on clearance at the KMart in Lakewood, WA. Gonna check the other KMart tomorrow
  • PepperPepper Member Posts: 91
They weren't clearance, acutally, they were marked $11.99 on the shelf with all of the non-clearance LEGO. That Kmart had no LEGO clearance whatsoever.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Yeah I know. Found that out this am lol
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
Just finished sorting and counting my 10 PAB boxes and the 1 large cup and creating a spreadsheet to determine the [email protected] PAB cost for what I got. 10 boxes for $75 + ~$16 for the 1 cup = $846.05 online. Man that is some nasty mark up ordering from them. Don't think I'm going to bother figuring out what the 11 grab bags got me.
  • pvancil27pvancil27 Member Posts: 588
Just snagged a lot for 100, includes "99%" complete:

    10174 UCS AT-ST (with Instructions)
    7675 AT-TE (with Instructions/sticker sheet)

Also finding parts for: (no other instructions)
    7110 Landspeeder
    7115 Gungan Patrol
    7144 Slave 1 (is about 80% built)

Also found a George Lucas Mini fig (with the eyelet on head) and a couple boater guys. Also have a Darth Maul figure that I'm not sure came from what.

I bought it for the two big sets, and knew about the Gungan stuff as the Eopies were viable in the picks, but the original Slave 1 is a great surprise, especially since is has both the Boba and Old Han Carbonite brick.

Gonna spend the night parting out the two big sets and see whats missing then set about trying to figure out what all is left
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Great find! That's about half of what these used sets would go for separately.
  • pvancil27pvancil27 Member Posts: 588
Only real Neg thus far is I cant find the info sticker plate for the AT-ST =/
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^That's like a deathblow for any UCS set. Hope it shows up.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^^If it doesn't, I'm sure you can find one on BL or eBay. Unless the sticker is incredibly rare (such as the snowspeeder or Tantive iv), then a replacement can usually be found.

Either way, if you aren't planning to re-sell it, the set looks outstanding with or without the sticker sheet.
  • pvancil27pvancil27 Member Posts: 588
Finished sorting by colour, no luck on the sticker plate. Not a huge issue as its not gonna be resold (anytime soon at least). No Gungan figs for the 7115 but the rest of the key parts are there. The land speeder is far from complete, no doors/only two engines. Found enough matching color parts to assume the slave 1 is also "99%" complete. Found the instructions to a 4488 Mini Falcon along with the printed top plate for it.

The Maul is likely from 7101 as I found Qui Gon hair and an extra green sabre, but no fig.

I had some fantastic hauls the last 3 weeks. On the way to Hawaii I garbed a Craigs list full of mini sets that are discontinued some Mission to mars and a few other retired space sets complete for 425. Got to Phoenix and found the new poly bags the STAP, SD, and Tie fighter and grabbed 10 each. Went to the Lego store and grabbed a SSD for 10% and got the double points for that. Went to the PX on Oahu and scored some discounted Atlantis sets and got those home. Got back and went to the Lego store again and got a few more sets. Best score though was Kmart last night. Got an Atlantis HQ for 12.50 and 9 Fountain of youth for 7.50 ea. I will be posting a picture later tonight.

Tell me if this was a good deal. Had a craiglist find today. $240 for the following (all open and disassembled).

    8083 Rebel Snow BP
    8084 Snowtrooper BP
    8086 Droid Trifighter
    7748 Corporate Alliance Battle Tank
    7749 Echo Base
    7778 Midi MF
    8014 Clone Walker BP
    8039 Venator
    8016 Hyena Droid Bomber

    7052 AC UFO Abduction
    5970 Freeze Ray Frenzy
    7948 OUtpost Attack.

This isn't the best haul I;ve ever had. Almost walked away from it. Anyone have any thoughts to make me feel better about it?

Browsing a local auction site, I saw a random lot of lego for sale - which looked like it had parts for 8078 Portal of Atlantis and 8077 Exploration HQ. I ended up winning it for $48 inc postage. It arrived today, and both sets seem complete and in mint condintion - 8078 even had mint instructions! Thats one of the better deals I've had in a while - RRP would have been $300 :D

Kinda funny, After buying 3 of each from Amazon.fr dirt cheap a week ago, I got another one of each even cheaper!
  • pvancil27pvancil27 Member Posts: 588
So after sorting, I found out I messed up. I have 100% complete 10174 UCS AT-ST 7675 AT-TE (missing one 2X2 round plate) and near complete 7115 Gungan Patrol (missing the two gungans and one 4X4 Green plate) and 7144 Slave 1 (missing parts for the two guns)

I couldnt mind may parts for the 7110 because it ended up NOT being the 7110...

It's a 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina.... the Cantina and Speeder are near complete, sadly no Dewback and the only Mini fig was Luke... So close to an awesome find, yet so far....
