Any word on “castle Byers” mini build that was only with a couple stores at signing event?   Will it get a wider or store specific release when stranger things set goes non-VIP only?

From what I've heard, there were only 400 made, they were only available at the midnight signing release event, and there are no plans to make more.  On the positive side, the only part that is unique to the set is the stickers.  No printed parts or special pieces that you'll have to get if you want to Bricklink it.
    Thanks for the input!

Do we know how quickly the keychain for #10265 Ford Mustang went out of stock, as the patch is a similar item?

I am quite interested in both promotions and #10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander, so would obviously prefer to stack the promos as opposed to making separate purchases for both. Unfortunately there's no guarantee the patch will last until June 5th, so I figure the best comparison to help gauge what I should do is the keychain.
I ordered my keychain around midnight when the bricktober marvel released as well.  I also got keychain and mustang sticker.  I do believe that Marvel bricktober sold out in 2-3 days and heard customer service called it “very popular” when someone didn’t order it soon enough.

Anyone else get the email from Lego about the new VIP program? It’s still vague, but this caught my eye:

    All New Rewards Centre

When you want to use points for a discount, just visit the all new Rewards Centre, choose how many points you want to use, then get a code for your discount. Easy!”

Doesn’t sound so easy to me. Sounds like more hoops to jump through to use your points instead of being able to just use them directly at check-out.

Sounds like what the TRU rewards system used to be like which was an epic PIA.  Wondering if I should cash in my rewards before this goes live...

Happy I used up all my VIP points last month while on a trip to the US. I have a feeling they will close the loophole where I could earn points in Canadian dollars and spend them in USD at 1:1 :-)

It's actually due to a printing mishap in the catalog. I see the same results on a Star Wars page. The sky and police vehicles have their normal color. But don't be upset - there's no need to cry boo-hoo-hoo for the true blue hue.

From what I heard there will be no way for the store to know how may points you have and the option to use them is gome at check out. You have to redeem them for a certificate before check out. LEGO already pushed the launch back once. There was also talk of using points for VIP only merchandise. This looks like the Black card all over again.

I think there's an important distinction too:  If points could be used to purchase VIP only merch, vs if points could ONLY be used to purchase VIP merch.  If it was the latter... I would be very, VERY unhappy.  I currently have 11k points stored up (I WAS waiting for the technic Liebherr coming later this summer to use them) and just all the chaos around the whole thing is starting to piss me off and make me want to use all of them, and then basically never purchase direct from LEGO again since it's rarely, if ever, actually the best deal.

Edit: never mind. It doesn’t show up in the quick view or in the shopping bag count but does show up before final checkout.

Are they already out of the Lunar Lander patch at [email protected] or is it just not adding to the cart like most promos do? The patch still shows on the offers and promos page, which has usually meant it’s still available.

Go to checkout and it should be there. It doesn’t show as being added to the cart with package icon at the top of the page.

Seriously? That's completely absurd. VIP is literally only useful as a pat 5% discount on thier otherwise unreasonably priced sets at the Lego Store. It's already a massive inconvenience shopping with them (be it waiting on FedEx' arbitrary delivery schedule or driving across town to one of thier out of the way locations). This would be yet another reason to just avoid thier direct retail outlets and opt for more convenient shops.

Who ever asked for this? What was wrong with the simple system they had? If anything, the only change they should have opted to make was upping the percentage. Rendering the entire program too convoluted to actually use is just asinine. *grumble, grumble*

I ordered my Lunar Lander just after midnight CDT. Got both the rocket ride and the patch according to the checkout process, and used up my VIP points before they screw up that system.

I just did the same after thinking about it for a bit.  I usually hoard my points until there's a GWP I really want when there's no 2x VIP points and with this potentially bad VIP change, it became a no-brainer use my points.

I did the same. I had $45 in VIP points & and a lack of cash so it just made sense for me.

Breaking news - the City design team has officially decided to team up with Friends, and recolor the 2019 sets, beginning with the Sky Police sets. Just kidding :)
But wow, that really came out more, well, colorful than usual! I’ve had misprinted, and minor color change in my catalogs, but nothing like that.

I ordered #10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander last evening and managed to get #5005907 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander Patch and #40335 Space Rocket Ride with it, which wasn't bad for $105.99.

Regarding the new VIP changes, I am also considering using my $180 in points now. I've wanted #42083 Bugatti Chiron since it came out, so I'll probably use the points on that. The new program sounds like it's going to be a real pain to use though.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Yeah... it is a weird change to go from something easy and simple to use to far more complex. Now I can just say, sure, I want to use my point. But instead needing to go into a site/app, to then change out reward points to some physical or online coupon code seems like we are going backwards.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Yeah, Lowe's, a home improvement chain in the USA has a credit card that either gives you an immediate 5% discount or let's you pay interest free for 12 months. I have a buddy that always opts for the interest free for 12 months because he says he'd rather invest the money and use pay back the interest free loan over time. I always ask him if he knows a 0 risk investment that returns greater than 5%. He does not.

#41335 looks great. not sure if i want to bite on #10266

Also with LEGO Space, #70841 looks like my favorite of the TLM2 sets

will the new system let you use points in increments besides 100?

  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,788
If someone is on the fence about #10266, I would say get it now while the Rocket ship promo and patch are available when buying  #10266. Aside from a future double points offer Im not sure there will be a better deal.

Well, I for one am hopeful that the VIP points don't turn out to be as much of a debacle as they could be.

But, just in case I just picked up #10266 and used my $30 worth of points. Got the Space Rocket ride and patch in there as well.

Having just read this I ran to open my box & check. The patch was on the bottom of the box under all the papers. Did you check under the flaps? I've had stuff slide under before (TLM2 card packs).

@Astrobricks  After reading this I immediately opened my shipping box and mine was also missing.  :(  As per usual, one of the very few times I have ever had to call over the last 20 years, CS asked me to look one more time as well and when I did and didn't find it still, he said he was shipping it out to me asap and apologized.  As has been said before, the customer service at LEGO is the BEST!!

My patch was all the way at the bottom of the box and saw it as I was about to throw the box into recycling.  I can see the patch falling out of the slits on the bottom of the boxes if they are not fully taped up.

My patch was neatly tucked between the space rocket ride and the lunar lander.

Only issue I have is the lunar lander box has a couple creases. Not too bad, and ultimately I've moved past caring about the boxes for larger sets. Just too hard to keep perfect, especially when I open it to build the set.

@Oubird, Apparently my information was about as wrong as it's possible to be.  VIP In-Store build for June 25, must be 15+ to sign up. (In North America at least, not sure about any other regions.)

EDIT:  This is referring to the 'Castle Byers' Stranger Things mini-build that was first seen at the midnight release event of #75810

I was able to get the poster when I bought a LEGO Movie 2 set, so I don't think it's actually tied to marvel sets except for them possibly saying it in the text.

Used my points on Corner Garage and to get the Rocket Ride promo.  Who knows what the new point system will look like, but no risk in burning them now and starting to save them up again if it's not completely F'd.

Did anyone else notice that because of the piece in front of the seat that holds their feet, even Friends & Elves, etc., can ride the rocket? :) I wonder if that was done on purpose. Or maybe it's just filler so there's some space in front of the minifig with short legs (that is essentially standing).
I stumbled on the original Ideas submitter's video and he confirmed that that's what that piece was for and was glad that Lego left it in there in the official release.
