At long last, I finally have started my Exo Force collection! The big mech has KNEES!! KNEES! If Lego could do it then, they can do it now. The figures are quite amusing, though the hair did not stick well. Was that a widespread issue with those rubber hairs?

Got the Helms Deep setup looking good.
Even with the extra minifigs, it still feels awfully bare to me. I really need at least a couple more Rohan soldiers in there. More Orcs as well.

Nice! I had a similar setup with higher walls and tower. :)

    RIGHT???
I highly suggest Golden Guardian- that's been my favorite set.
In fact, I might have an extra, if you want it.

Yeah, the hair never stuck especially well...

Not been doing much lego but that means I've managed to save up for Harry Potter. Sets are in their way. So excited. Been watching the 3rd film today with my son (back holiday weekend here) in preparation.

Also been taking some pictures when there was an overview as inspiration for the big massive Hogwarts MOC.

Got a pretty fair sized haul, and six out of seven feels were accurate. Somehow I mistook Herc's sword handles for Louie's flashlight piece. Either that or I put the Herc in the wrong spot and Louie back in the box while I was methodically seeking the last seven I needed for the set. Oh well, another excuse to head back to The LEGO Store in June, new JW sets and another chance to get Louie to finish my set of 18.

Was surprised to see the new Harry Potter sets in my local store. Picked up Hagrids Hut, Knight Bus and The Clock Tower. Added to the birthday haul. We don't get sets early here. We usually have to wait a few weeks for new sets to be seen in stores. Thank you Lego for giving us a warehouse a few suburbs away from me.
I think I've managed to get a Flintstones set. See how that pans out. Buying my birthday haul tonight as well. In about 5 hours. Adding the new Batmobile and The Lunar Lander to my order as well.

Love it! I'm very envious of your Rohan army.

I've considered building up the walls as well (also though of doing the same thing to the Black Gate) but I'll need to buy up a few more sets and/or a lot of brick before I could do that. Definitely looks a bit more realistic though.

Thanks. They're from the Uruk Hai set which I've bought quite a few.

I've also got 2 Helms Deep set but only opened 1 and used extra bricks to raise the height.

Woke up, saw the email confirming the Space patch was the gwp for the Lunar Lander and clicked buy! VIP and some polybag sales in my PP account means it cost under £60, which I can justify after an expensive month of birthdays.
Now need to get Saturn V to go with it next

A huge regret of mine is that I wasn't actively collecting LEGO when the LotR sets were on the shelves. The #9471 set goes for so ridiculously high nowadays, even used it's usually close to twice the retail price. If I ever come across a great deal on a few more up them I'll jump on it quick though.

^such a cool set. Another happy bunny here.
Having fun actually 'playing' with this little set, it's only tiny but it was a nice little build with some new pieces that will come in very handy for vertical building.
Not a great picture, sorry, was difficult with the black.

Been looking at a lot of pictures of the Millennium Falcon as it appears in Solo Story, because I wanted to make sure the blue parts are as film accurate as possible for one of my current projects....& Argh! In some images it looks more like it's Dark Blue, in a couple it looks more akin to Blue-Violet, then in a few more it looks closer to Dark Azure, but also, in another batch it (including what looks to be an early version of a daybill poster) looks to be more of a match for Dark Blue-Violet, plus there's a good chunk of artwork/screenshot/toy images, etc, where it clearly looks like standard Blue would be the best pick. Why Lucasfilm why!?!

^Well, that's supposedly as seen by the light of several different suns, right? It should look different!
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu AustraliaMember Posts: 2,230
^ That would be part of it for some of them, but there are several pics clearly meant to be the same settings as in a couple of other images (same light levels, etc), but the blue varies, in some cases quite wildly. It's not a fun thing, especially since it's not on Netflix as yet so I can just re-watch a couple of times to get a better feel for which blue would be the best match. Beginning to think that the blue is meant to be something akin to the pearlescent paints used on some street racer style cars, considering some of what Lucas said about the Falcon at points (I remember a few Hot-Rod references over the years), I wouldn't surprised if Ron Howard took that idea on board for Solo Story.

All to see if I could find a better match that might have all the parts I need in that colour....I'm beginning to think I'll just stick with standard Blue & hope that TLG release the 1x1 quarter circle tile in Blue soonish.

@pxchris @Recce I'm not into LOTR in particular but I do like a big medieval battle scene. I stockpiled medieval CMFs - S15 Frightening Knight, S16 Rogue, S17 Elf Girl and tweaked a big castle set, #41180 was handy

By the time these six weeks are out, I will actually build the #21309 Saturn V bought years ago and return it safely to a display shelf

Also with LEGO Space, #41335 Space Rocket Ride (the current US [email protected] promo) looks great, and #70841 looks like my favorite of the TLM2 sets

That's the birthday shop done. [email protected]'s delivered safely yesterday morning, good shop on Monday and a surprise purchase of the Stark Jet today.

I was having needless worry over the delivery company Lego use in Australia. Toll. Reading the reviews, parcels never arriving, damaged boxes etc.
Got an email saying they would be delivered on Tuesday and they never came. Then got an email saying delivery would be Wednesday. Oh no they have lost it. Almost 2 grand lost.
Then I thought to myself. I have had things delivered by them a few times and no problem. Sure enough, 8am in the rain Wednesday morning they were at my gate and he even helped bring them up the stairs.

People just leave bad reviews when they are angry (which I have been guilty of) and in this day of instant gratification if a parcel is 5 minutes late people get irate.

Very happy. I have all my Lego and a long weekend of building coming up.

Getting slightly annoyed with Fedex. My AFOL-Designer-set has been on its way since the 21st of May. I know it has to travel halfway across the globe, but still, it's friggin' 2019...

And the second is still on "shipping information received" after a week. Argh.

Also ordered #8883-1 Motor and #88000-1 Battery Box to motorise my #10262 Roller Coaster :-))

Some overseas shipping companies do that. DHL used to do that when Australia had our [email protected] orders delivered from Europe. It would say shipping information received and no updates after that. Then 6 days later Cleared Customs. With Australia Post etc.

I'm struggling trying to figure out what to buy to get the rocket ride GWP. I have plenty of options but they're all $200+. I was planning on waiting for double points on those since they're pricier. Guess I could always stop at the Lego store and see what they have.

Jeeze, the Rexcelsior is far larger than I'd anticipated. I have no idea where it's going to live. Here's a side by side with Benny's Spaceship! (previously the largest Lego Movie spaceship). It's footprint is enormous.

@snowhitie This has long been an area of fascination for me too! I've been slowly learning German for a couple of years now. I'm far from fluent and I struggle to understand anything I hear but I've got a reasonable vocabulary and can generally read it ok.

I've always wanted to ask more fluent bilingual speakers if they see different languages as separate in their mind or if it's all just 'one big language'. For example, before I started learning I knew about half a dozen ways to ask "How are you?" in English, including some peculiarly Australian slang versions. Now, I know an additional couple of German ways. It doesn't really feel different in my head, it's just... more options! I often wonder if it's like that for everyone?

Kids seem to have a particular knack for languages that leaves me quite jealous! I used to play in a band with a Swedish buddy who moved to Australia as an exchange student. He married a Spanish girl who was living here at the time and had a son with her. The son was brought up learning 3 languages, Swedish, Spanish and English and can apparently switch between them with incredible ease. Turns out it's a little harder when you leave it until your late 30's...

I have no idea about the languages. I can order a beer in a couple but that's it! I have a friend who is fluent in a dozen different languages, it's scary how he just picks them up.
Like @snowhitie it was a wash out day here, wife and child are out for the day so after a few jobs I managed an hour of LEGO time.

@Polyphemus my mother tongue is Dutch but am now fluently bilingual (there's several people here that can testify to that fact). French was actually my second language, but English seems to feel like my 'heart' language if that makes any sense. When I dream, people who speak Dutch in real life will speak English in my dreams (I sometimes also speak aloud in my sleep and that's always in English).

When I try to speak French now and don't know a word, I will actually say the English word first, even though I learned French from Dutch.

For my son, it seems like he just speaks whatever is around him now, whatever language the person he is speaking too understands. He prefers English over Dutch he says, maybe because it's richer?

Hope we are not going off to much on a tagent from the Lego status topic, if we are going in too deep and more people want to talk about it, mayeb we should start a speerate thread in the 'chat' section.

Trying out the beta version of the LEGO Tower game.
It sometimes exits unexpectedly but aside from that everything seems ok. The game itself, however, quickly becomes boring...

After about 6 months away from the forum and to a large extent Lego, I am finally getting back into both again. Have managed to catch up on this thread, but there are many others I am going to have to skip over!

Had been renovating our house (no lego room unfortunately) which ended up consuming all spare time and space, but that is nearing the end. So now I can actually start thinking about reducing my backlog rather than just growing it.

My 3 year old has been pestering me to play with my Brick bounty (and pirates and sharks and crocodiles!). Was finally able to get them all out today, and he has played with it happily and surprisingly gently all day.

Tonight I quickly set up a little island with a base for the soldiers so he and his sister can have some pirate adventures tomorrow.

I had forgotten how joyful freeform building is.

anyway it is good to be back

I was staying at my brother's over the weekend, and spent most of the time playing Lego Jurassic World with my 8 year old niece, who has recently just become obsessed with all things Jurassic Park/World.

I haven't played any of the LEGO video games since the original Lego Movie Game and enjoyed it so much that when I got home in instantly went online to see if I could find a cheap copy for PS3/PC - only to discover I already had it in my Steam Library!  Must've picked it up on sale at some point and forgot all about it.
