Target seems to have expanded their 'popculture etc' area in general to replace the CD and shrinking DVD market. Lego ideas and architecture seemingly is part of that strategy.
In this market, at least, all LEGO is still being shelved together, except for polybags, clearance, and the occasional Brickheadz. The remodeled stores mostly have an expanded LEGO section that includes Architecture and a couple Ideas sets.

Definitely an uptick in inventory since TRU closed.  My Target expanded to a 3rd shelf face and started carrying alot more Technic, Speed Champions, Architecture, and Ideas.

Oh yeah, Speed Champions. I knew I was forgetting something.

Nice to see it's back in stock.  Having more on the open market will make it more reasonable to purchase via third party.  I bet those who purchased early and paid a high premium are regretting the situation.  Oh well, "been there, done that" with several Lego purchases in the past along with other items.  You are never too old to learn from prior mistakes.

It only lasted a few hours in stock. Likely a small number that was from failed orders or return or straggling stock.

    Good catch.

My local Target's CD/DVD aisle is now only two aisles after the store update. The older inventory of CDs and DVDs are gone; the emphasis on new, recent, and classic/budget.

LEGO has also been spread throughout the store as they utilize the island multi-tier displays.

So now I have to skulk around in the ladies undergarments department to make sure I didn’t miss any LEGO?

Due to various things, I missed the whole #75227 Darth Vader Bust fiasco. Got one off eBay for $58.99 - not great, but not terrible.

I am however searching for #30461 Podracer. Is that supposed to be available at Target as well? Is there a legitimate DPCI number?

I checked the pages of this thread, but could not seem to find a legitimate DPCI number for it.

Not sure how helpful this will be because I don't have a DPCI number, but my Target had a display with the 20th anniversary sets, including the polybags, by the LEGO section.  The polybags included the podracer.

I just bought a #30461 the other day, along with #30384 and #30383. The receipt has the following three DCPIs:
    204000546
    204004845
    204004899.
But the descriptions don’t tell me which was which, and Target’s web site is no help because those sets aren’t on it, as far as I can tell. Brickseek didn’t help either.

I was able to get #30384 Snowspeeder but did not see #30461 Podracer. I would also love to find #30383 Naboo Starfighter.

The Snowspeeder was on an end cap, but the other two were no where to be found.

I have three Target locations within relatively close range, so I guess I should just check all three of them. I tried those DPCI numbers on Brickseek but no real luck there.

Thank you both for the input.

One of those DCPIs came up as a Technic set on Brickseek, and I know that’s wrong.

Naboo Starfighters are readily available at Walmart.  I have some in my Bricklink storeas well.

Bricklink does not show the sets correctly.  Your best bet is to ask an associate to check each.  That's what I had to do.

I'm finding multiple reports that the DPCI numbers listed above are correct for the 3 polys at Target.  I'd have to find my receipt to see what it said.  Or did I buy that one at Walmart as Walmart carries these as well...

Last night I was in two Targets and they both had all 3 on the shelf.  I was in 3 Walmarts as well and saw them or at least some in some of the WM.  So yes, they're out there.

Whichever one that BS showed as a Technic truck is correct.  I posted the DPCIs in the poly thread straight from my receipt weeks ago and that's what came up.

#30461 is 204-00-4899 verified by the shelf tag at the store.

Thought I’d post the tags from one Target that has all 3 polys neatly hanging for DPCI reference.

The Edina Target has had several #5005107 buildable rulers on clearance for $9 the last couple times I’ve been there. They were just on a shelf in the “normal” LEGO aisle, but they are continually rearranging that Target right now.

^I was finding those a few months ago at Target for $3. It might be worth holding off to see if they go lower.

Yeah, they don’t seem to be selling at $9.

Several sets 20% off, got #41367 for my horse fan cousin. nice to see it with a simple discount rather than buy X to get GC like Target often does, or [email protected] spent X to get promo items

As for changes post TRU closing - is it simply leftover TRU inventory or are they getting more going forward without that competition?
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
I can report that both Target and Wal-Mart, particularly those close to former TRUs, ordered between 50% and 300% more product last Christmas to account for the absence of TRU.  There were a couple of instances of copious amounts of stock being discounted at Wal-Mart, but those were generally considered outliers in this market.  (Someone bought a palette of Friends/City sets at 75% off at a local Wal-Mart.)

Generally, their product sales are up, but not to an equivalent level (or even comparable level) to account for the product that TRU sold.  And this really only applies to the upstate/WNY area, where there were five pretty successful TRU locations.

And we have a LEGO Brand Store, which has also reportedly seen a healthy boost in sales since the TRU closures.

In short - Target/Walmart/LEGO Store sales are up, but not by as much as TRU sold, but that still means it's more than just a fire sale on TRU assets

About 20 #41775 Unikitty CMF 50% off ($1.98) - definite maybe. saw nothing else interesting.

And this doesn't account for online sales for consumers in this area that may be spending their TRU dollars at Amazon.  (Or other online outlets.)

Including Target and Walmart’s sites. Apparently, Target has been doing fairly well recently with online sales and store pickup.

Target's weekly print ad is showing #10770 Buzz & Woody's Carnival Mania on sale for $19.99.  Oddly the online weekly ad doesn't show the page (a full page of Toy Story 4 items) and the website price is $39.99.

Typo?  I'm curious if any one of us will be trying to price match this, either at Target itself or other stores...let us know, please!  I may have to try to do this myself!

I got it for $19.99 by showing the ad to the cashier. It initially scanned for $49.99.

Crap I do not think I have a flyer.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
They usually have them at the front door or at customer service. Reports on other sites are that stores have been instructed to pull stock from the shelves and remove that page from the flyer.

The week I actually want the physical add, and it's been disappeared by my family. -.-
  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,176
Got it tonight for the "sale price".  The young lady at the guest services counter didnt even look at the ad - she trusted my word that it was on sale for that price!  Thanks to @Tkatt for the heads up!

I got one for  $20 at my store, they'd pulled all the paper ads and the online one had been updated to the correct price, however, the physical one they had displayed on the wall at the front of the store still had the incorrect price, by showing them that I got them to match it
  • hoodaddyhoodaddy Member Posts: 315
Got one yesterday morning before they pulled the online ad. Just showed the cashier and he verified the text and picture, and got a supervisor to override the price. Nice as you get Bo Peep, woody, buzz, and the Key and Peele characters, and the octopus ride is nice too.

Same here. Borrowed the ad from the service desk, went to pick the set up from Toys then checked right out. Nice find for all the main characters.

I saw a few sets - maybe half a dozen - on clearance today. Only 15% off at this point. Snoke’s Throne Room was one.
