LegoFan2 disappeared?

How come LegoFan2’s posts have disappeared? I’ve seen several threads where people appear to be talking to themselves because LegoFan2’s replies have gone AWOL! Was he/she revealed to be below the minimum age allowed to post on Brickset? If so, I wouldn’t be at all surprised :-)

It's weird, actually. The main page indicates 4 comments here, with the latest from LegoFan2, but while I write this I can only read 2 posts and none of them from LegoFan2...

I have been getting fed up reading @LEGOFan2's juvenile questions and contributions which add nothing of any value.

The minimum age to join the forum is hereby raised to 18.

Dude was necromancing all these threads from 1+ years back and, to be blunt, wasn't adding much to the conversation other than essentially saying he/she liked the topic. Maybe those in power got tired of it. I mean, you do you, and over-policing online forums isn't always the best thing buuuuuuuut.... yeah.

That was my mistake ^ admins feel free to delete. But I agree, the admins were more than patient with him but, at least for me, it just became overwhelming

I certainly don't doubt his enthusiasm for LEGO, or for this site.

The combination of incessant posts on Marketplace Threads, and idle comments - I can see why there was mod intervention.

Ok, so it wasn't just me. The guy was on for only about what a month and had about 500+ posts (most really added no value to the thread). I started to think he was trying to drive up his post numbers for some reason.

I definitely understand what everyone is talking about but did a mod PM the kid to explain to him the forum expectations and behavior? The kid said he was 16 and seemed overly eager and excited about Lego and the forum. I feel bad because a 16 year old these days can be involved worse things than annoying forum behavior. It seemed like he took every correction positively and with a sense of humor and never confrontational. I don't know the kid's background or what he is going through. If this forum was a way for him to keep his focus off other things that might get I trouble, I would hate for that door to be closed. Maybe because I work with a bunch of kids that are all so different that I can overlook and ignore certain behaviors or just too lenient but that is just my just two cents.

I just thought he was very young and enthusiastic so I forgave his annoying comments as best I could and left it alone. I'm sure he'll mature a bit by the time he is old enough to come back.

They posted in marketplace threads saying they wanted to buy a set but didn’t have the money while also PM’ing me about wanting to buy items I had for sale trying to make deals. I guarantee I’m not the only one they did this too. I’m not usually a fan of banning people, but good riddance.

I don't know if any mods sent him a message, but I know that some Bricksetters had and also gave him constructive criticism within the thread; that didn't seem to get through to him. It was as though every post that we made was directed specifically at him; like we were talking directly to him. I think the fact that HUW didn't outright ban was nice gesture.

When he joined last November, he said he had just turned 16.

I was trying to be patient and occasionally give guidance (like not posting comments that were just “Neat” and so forth) but then he seemed to think liking everything was going to garner him some kind of cred or goodwill, when it was having the opposite effect. Maybe that kind of thing works in other online communities, but not here.

LegoFan2, if you’re reading this, please take it as a learning experience.

I don't mean to keep railing on the kid, but what really put me off about him was when I was asking if anyone knew if Lego stores in Singapore were still selling the CNY sets a couple of weeks back and he said they were available since he had a friend there who bought some the previous weekend. Sure, he could've been telling the truth, but I just felt something was off, especially since that was around the time he really started dredging up super old threads and making spam-like comments in others. Thankfully, other members stepped in and said they were long gone and saved me the hassle of lugging around a large suitcase (that didn't stop me from checking the nearest Lego Certified Store, though. :P ) I get wanting to be liked and trying to be helpful at that young age, but come on, man, that was messed up.

Good, I can go back to upsetting small children and preventing potential AFOLS from joining the hobby by buying the last set on the shelf!

As a former mod on various forums, it felt like the surge of junk you got in school holidays. Huw has done the right thing IMHO.
