Forest/tree sets to compliment logging sets

  High levels of tree/plant parts in sets are very rare. Your best bet would be to look at Bricks & Pieces on the Lego site or Bricklink or Brickowl. There you can order the parts you want in bulk. It might not be cheap though.
  
  Another option would be to acquire various brown and dark brown bricks and build your own trees. It can be much cheaper and more fun than the single part spruce trees.

  I guess what I'm looking for is 4211166: Brick Ø16 W. Cross and 4648118: Plate Round 2X2 W. Ver.Shaft and a bunch of leaves to make a little forest.  The plate is pretty specific and brickset has a nice "appears in" feature to target sets.
  
  the trees that appear in these sets are probably what I'm looking for
  4208-1: Fire Truck
  4209-1: Fire Plane
  4440-1: Forest Police Station
  60097-1: City Square
  
  the cheapest set for me for where I live (Indonesia) is the first one coming in just over $50 USD (the other sets are all over $100 USD) this beats the amazon.com price for it if I lived in the US so I should consider myself lucky.  I'm sure my son would love it but seems a bit overkill just to get a tree.
  
  Its unfortunate lego doesn't release a simple deciduous tree set like what you see above.  I can find a lot of extreme builds and classic pine trees but no trees that work well for play with the logging sets which is too bad.
  
  I will probably try a custom build

  The best-looking deciduous tree build I can think of was in Medieval Market Village - the set is long retired but the instructions should be online at Lego.com in case you want to use it to get ideas on what parts to Bricklink. I would add that it's quite fragile when finished, but if your son is playing at logging that may not be a disadvantage!

  The upcoming Expecto Patronum set has two trees. Play with the trrees now, and save the figs for if/when your kid gets into Harry Potter.

  in my searches, I have found some polybags that have some decent trees
  
  contenders are
  10069-1: Tree
  40052-1: Springtime Scene
  40057-1: Fall Scene
  40096-1: Spring Tree
  
  not quite what I'm looking for since the logging trucks handles these long pole like trunks but still useful sets if all you're looking for is tree parts to mix and match.

  As a quick thought, it might be worth getting https://brickset.com/sets/31084-1/Pirate-Roller-Coaster - I've seen it on offer a few times.

  
  

  As well as a fun build, it has plenty of brown and green bricks your son could use to make trees and landscapes. You should be able to get creative and replace the brown / green parts in the roller coaster with other pieces from your collection so you can still run the roller coaster while having a better forest for logging!

  Well again like @Bumblepants says, I think in the end, find a design you like (you can also browse instruction books online for many LEGO sets at LEGO.com), or find the common parts you see in most LEGO tree builds, buy the parts from shop.lego.com 'bricks and pieces' or bricklink (if LEGO will not ship to you for some reason as Im sure there would be sellers on bl that would, and they are sometimes cheaper than LEGO for those parts-but watch out for shipping costs on bricklink), and mix and match parts and build your own trees.
  

  Who knows, you may find a better design of your own making and, more importantly,  it will likely be cheaper than buying a whole set for one tree!

  Thanks for posting those.  I might have to keep on the lookout for them to add more trees to my city as well.
