ersiersi Member Posts: 229
Hi I have just built my first lego set it was 21309 and it was amazing. Can you suggest me some really good lego set? I was searching for something space related but I did not found anything except star wars that Im not big fan. I was thinking about sticking with one theme lego sets my favourite themes are harry potter and architecture(but some sets looks really bad in my opinion). Can you suggest me some good lego set? And is it good to stick with one theme legos or it doesnt matter?

Something from Harry Potter, depending on your budget.

I have decided that I will go with harry potter sets, should I buy sets from 2018 or older?

Right now prices in my shop for harry potter lego sets are:
    #71043 350€
    #75955 72€
    #75956 35€
    #75954 85€
    #75953 60€
    #75950 17€
    #75952 40€
    #75951 28€

Are theese prices okay or should I wait for some discount?

Go for the current sets. They are the first releases of this period. Forget about the ones from ~2010 or before. They tend to be expensive and will probably be redone anyway.

If you plan to build the set and leave it built for display, get the ones that you would most want to display. As for prices, check over at Brickset.com, Bricklink, and SOLD listings on eBay and you can get a good handle on what each set is currently selling for. Unless you really want the set, avoid paying full retail price.

Okay thank you very much, I will go with
#75955(72€) and 75954(85€) theese 2 look the best I think. I was checking ebay, amazon and bricklink but I did not found anything with better price. Few of them were cheaper but Im from Slovakia so shipping would be too high

@ersi , in your opening post you asked if it's wise to stick to one theme. Honestly, I try to stick to sets I think I can integrate in my small city layout, but sometimes a set is so good, I just have to get it. In some cases, like with the Harry Potter Great Hall, I will inegrate in my city somehow. With others, like the Saturn V and Voltron, I will just display.

Longg story short. If you see a set you really like, that makes you smile and makes your heart beat faster, that's the one you should get. There are no rules with Lego. Just have fun!

I think a lot of it also depends on how you intend to play with or display them. Like TheBrickTank, I have a city layout in my basement, so I tend to stick to City sets, modulars, or Creator sets like the Sunshine Camper Van that work in that.  Other display pieces, like the Architecture sets I have, or UCS and Creator Expert vehicles, as well as one-offs like the Saturn V or my employee holiday gifts are also on display, or will be after Saturday's IKEA trip. You could drive yourself nuts going after every set of every theme, so pick where your interests lie and build on those. There's enough out there to flesh out almost every niche that you could want to fill.

Space related? Great timing since they've just released pics of the city summer sets. Most of them look pretty cool.
